USA vs. Lithuania Game Thread *spoilers*
Don't want to threadjack Dutch's thread, as it's about something else, but thought we needed a thread for this game. Don't read it if you want to be surprised later.
Initial thoughts: I'm really surprised Italy is in the Gold Medal game...they would have been a much better matchup for the US than Lithuania, who already beat them. |

18-13 U.S., 3 minutes left in 1Q. U.S. is playing well...looking very strong. |

I don't think I've ever seen a team give up as many four-point plays as I have by this U.S. squad. 23-20 Lithuania, 45 seconds left in 1Q. |

45-44 U.S., 1:15 2Q Great game so far...tough play on both sides. Duncan in foul trouble early (of course). |

49-44 U.S. at the half. Could go either way, but I'm leaning towards the U.S...aside from some sloppiness at times, they're playing a little more strongly. |

51-49 Lithuania, 8:00 3Q Duncan does what he does best in the Olympics, picking up his seventeen-thousandth foul of the game. Last edited by NoMyths : 08-28-2004 at 02:46 PM. |

59-54 Lithuania, 5:24 3Q U.S. is looking...tired? Less intense? Goodness gracious but Lithuania can shoot from outside. |

66-65 U.S., ~3:00 3Q U.S. on an 8-0 run to regain the lead...it's gonna be a hell of a fourth quarter. |

And here I thought I'd hit ten in a row with no problems.
74-71 U.S., end of 3Q |

104-96, United States, Final Crazy three-point shooting by the Lietuvans, but the U.S. was too strong to overcome today. Bronze medals all around for the 500 billion dollar squad. |

Yay. The lowest achieving basketball team since they let the "professionals" compete. Come back home proud...

No, we also won the bronze in 1988, which I believe precipitated the push for allowing pros.
