Week 4 – Pittsburgh – We win 23-20

Week 5 – At Jacksonville – We lose 14-27

We go 2-2

7.32 – RB Daniel Harrison, Charleston Southern, 36/47, 38/48; 39/52

Rombach didn’t grow much and Van Nus not at all, but I’ll take the boom of McGovern and Pingeton all day long.

I have 38 mill for extensions. Who gets one?

LB Adams. Check
LB Arellano. Check

OT Hymes? No, too expensive and long for a 9th year vet who dropped to 62/62

Any two year extensions?

The obvious one is TE Riley…what does the best TE in the league want? 68 mill, 4 years. Done

Moyad wants 125 mill over 5 years and we’ll hold of on that until next year

Wanna see my rookies?

This is McGovern after camp and the preseason! As you can see Amari has a great run d, pass run str, and is good at thinking and punching, but his pass rush technique is only okay. He’s a great option down the middle and could really help my nasty D. Now…here’s the question…will he be my FIFTH first round Rookie of the Year in a row? I guess we’ll find out!

Here’s my 2.32 pick

Heilprin is starting across from Moyad and looks like a solid adjunct to my defense. He’s good in run d, pass rush technique, and okay at thinking and pass rush punchery. Welcome to the team!

Wanna see something cool?

These are all of the players in the league that aren’t kickers sorted by pot. As you can see we have 1 90, and 16 80s. Of those, we have Foreman, Cleghorn, Kirk, and Madison.

On The Green Page

We have McGovern at 4th and 5th is Heilprin.

Rookie Investigation

This was a one QB draft with a 76 pot, and then a single one in the 50s, and that was it.

The RB on the draft board that I was considering at 1.32 was 47/63 after the draft. Harrison is the 10th best RB in the deep draft.

There is an 81 pot TE taken at 1.20 that would be the best in the league if he develops.

There are no WRs better than 65 pot. Fairfield was the 5th best and Rombach the 7th.

The best OC in this draft was 57 pot. Wow

At OG Pingeton is 4th best.

Dt NT McGovern boomed into the best at his position and best D Line. We have 4 D Line in the 70s,and a bunch in the 60s

Hastings is the 7th best LB in the draft, and he was a UFA

After booming in camp UFA Fannon is the 6th best CB

The 2053 NFL Regular Season

I predict 12-4.

Week 1 – Carolina – We open with a home game? That’s weird. Please note that the 4 Super Bowl winning stud Qb for the Panthers retired in the offseason so what team will show up this time? Let’s find out! I have 3 questionables and 1 doubtful coming out of the preseason – We lose 20-24. Kirk was 26 for 123, 1 score; Abrams was 25 of 40, 266 and 1:0, score by FB Bensen, pick by Hutchins, FF by Boyd, 4 KRB by Blair

TE Van Nus is out for a while. I massage my roster after placing him on IR and signing TE Caleb Deisig an 11 year vet

Week 2 – Miami – Another old team. We win 46-21. MVp is Abrams, 16 of 29, 213 and 3:0, scores by Langlois, Cleghorn and Henderson. He was benched for backup QB Tewkesbury to give him some experience. RB Kirk was 20 for 168 and 1 scor,e rush TD by Abrams, picks by Foreman and Madison, FF by Hutchins and Arellano, 4 KRB by Macias

I have three injuries. TE Deisig is also out for the year, and I place him on IR and sign TE Hunter Ballard a 9th year vet.

QB Tewkesbury is out for a few weeks.

WLB Arellano also had a major game ending injury that will knock him out for 62 weeks. I place him on IR and sign LB Jumbo Shepherd.

Week 3 – At New York (Giants) – We win 26-20. MVP is Abrams, 22 of 33, 167, 1:0, score by Cleghorn, rush score. Kirk was 28 for 133.

Week 4 – At the Falcons – We win 37-16. MVP is Madison with pick six, 2 picks by Grembowski with one a pick six, 2.5 sacks by Moyad, 5 pasdef by Madison, Kirk held to 90 yards rushing, Abrams was 14 of 21, 122 and 2:2, scores by Cleghorn and Henderson, FF by Moyad and Grembowski,

We are an injury plagued rough 3-1 with three players on IR.

Week 7 – At Detroit – We win 24-17. MVp is Kirk with 25 for 96, 1 score. Abrams was 18 of 29 for 204 and 1:0, score to Riley, picks by Adams, Coomes, and ILB Hastings, FF by Willis, Hutchins and Willis, recovery by Foreman,

Week 8 – BYE

Cleghorn is back

Week 9 – Green Bay – This is last year’s rematch of the NFC Conference Game! Can we win at home as well? They are 6-2. We win 28-14! MVP is Kirk with 28 for 167 and 1 score, Abrams, 18 of 30, 247 and 2:1, FB Bensen and Cleghorn scores, 3 pasdef by Kempthorne,

With four games left, Kirk is sitting at 1571 yards and is on pace for 2k.

Week 14 – Buffalo – We win 37-27. MVP is Corey Moyad with 4.5 sacks. Nasty! Kirk was 30 for 92 and 2 score, Abrams is 24 of 39, 366 and 2:2, Riley 9 for 144, Henderson and Kirk with TD scores, Grembowski a pick, FF and rec by Madison,

Week 15 - At New Orleans – They are 9-4. This is not a give me game. We win 34-11. MVP is Madison with 2.5 sacks and INT. Kirk was held to his lowest total at 22 for 56 and 2 scores. Abrams was 27 of 39,288 and 1:1. Score by Kirk. FF by McGovern, rec by Madison, 2.5 sacks by McGovern,

Kirk needs 289 to get to 2k. Rough!

Week 16 – At New England – We win 31-24. MVP is Moyad with 4 sacks and a pick and 2 FF. Kirk was 22 for 178 and 2 scores! Good job! Abrams, 21 of 36, 288 and 2:2, Kirk and Rombach for scores, FF by Madison, and 2 recoveries by him, 5 KRB by Blair

WR Fairfield is out for 5 weeks. I massage my roster.

Kirk needs 103 to cross 2k, doable!

Week 17 – Atlanta - The Falcons are 6-9 and this is a doable home win. Ready? We finish 17-10. MVP is Kirk, who was….30 for….112 and 1 score! Good job buddy! Abrams 20 of 34, 177 and 1:1, score by Riley, pick by Coomes, 2 sacks by Madison, 4 passdef by Willis, 3 by Grembowski,

LB Adams broke his tibia and is out for the season. I place him on IR and hire LB Luther Pape

We finish 14-2 and with the top seed in the NFC.

Stats

Offensive

Passing

QB Abrams – 332 of 543, 3569 yards, 25:14, 85.0 rating

He’s just okay for the last few years and I need to accept that. This is Kirk’s team now.

Speaking of which…

Rushing

RB Kirk – 408 for 2009 yards, 4.92 ypc, 16 rush scores

His ypc was up from last year, he had 500 more rush yards and 4 more rush TDs, and he led in rush scores and yards by bunches. Good job Kirk!

Receiving

I don’t know what’s happening with Cleghorn…. Riley led my team with 920 yards and 3 scores – good job TE!

Blocking

As you can see Macias dominated in KRb and was 2nd most in the league to an OG with 52, he led all Cs in KRBs. Just 2 sacks allowed and 4 pancakes. Macias is just a weapon for my team!

Special Teams

K Poston – 38 of 43, Long of 58, 43 of 46 PAT

That is Poston’s 4th All Pro season! Good job K!

P Bruce – 94 punts, 44.6 avg, 29 in 20

Okay

Langlois had 1 KR and PR TD each.

Good stuff!

Defense

Madison led my team in tackles again, and rocked a nasty 6 sacks, which led my LB Corps in sacks. Moyad grabbed a nasty 18 sacks, with that being the most in the NFL by 3.5 sacks. I was a little surprised he wasn’t the Def PotY instead of Madison. Rookie McGovern notched a strong 7 sacks, which is great for a DT so I thought he was in line for Rookie of the Year for Def. Heilprin with 6.5 as a rookie. With 4 FF, Moyad led my team. Good stuff!

Pass Coverage

Coomes and Grembowski both clocked in 4 picks, and Madison led my team with 17 pasdef and 3 picks. Loads of injuries on y roster. Good stuff team!

Staff Draft

I retain my HC and DC. I make no changes

I have 12 mill under the cap and I need 14 for rookies so we’ll need to massage my cap. No tags for Hymes or anyone else. (Hymes would be 18 mill)

I’ll see you in FA!

I review the OTs as that’s my main need for the back of the 1st. I interview the top 6 OTs and then some OGs and LBs and a TE

I cannot sign my RFAs until I’ve freed some cap

I cut Nemecheck and Horner and free up 8 mill. I sign my RFAs. MLB Hastings won’t resign with me due to complaints about playing time. Ditto C Dorsey. I have 45 roster and no more cash

Here are my non-backup players coming free in a year…

WR Cleghorn – Wants 120 mil, 4 years, cap drop of 10 mill – 29 years old – do I want to resign a guy without 1000 yards rec in the last two years?

CB Foreman – 29 years old, 119 mill, 4 years, 2.5 mill cap drop… Is this too pricey for a 29 year old player? Can I just let him go and lean into Hutchins?

DE Moyad – 122 milll, 5 years, increase of 15 mill this year – I have two sign this two All Pros in 3 years guy, right? Or could I just go with Heilprin instead and let him go as a luxury?

WILB Willis – 60 mill, 5 years – A solid price for him. Increase this year of 7 mill.

SS Grembowski – 50 mill, 4 years, increase in 7.5 mill

I cut NT Morton and free up another 5 mill, I cut WR Henderson and save another 5 mill

I’ll wait to extend these folks until post draft to see what happens. I’d hate to extend Cleghorn and then have a stud WR fall to us.

Do I want to fight for any of my UFas? Nope! Anyone else I want to chase? Nope.

Week 2 – Hymes signs with Denver,

Week 9 – Horner signs with Detroit

Week 10 – Morton signs with Indy,

I’m feeling a little…….draft…………….

The 2054 NFL Amateur Draft

Picking at the 1.1 spot is New England and they take… QB Harold Bey. See you at the 1.30!

Our pick arrives…who do I like here?

OT Jerry Porter – Great pass and run block, weak elsewhere, Hard to Read
OT Cole Armendariz – Poor rankings, As Scouted
SLB Bubba Griggs – Top player on the board, underrated

Those are my only interviews still on the board. With the injury to Arellano I may not have him as a starter any more due to the knee ACL injury. I might want to target Griggs here. Or I could go Porter at OT which is a bigger position of need.

Here’s let’s look!

Let’s begin with the top player on the board, Griggs. His weakness is Man to Man and pass rush tech and str. But Underrated? And he’s a solid body here. I could take Griggs and then cut Arellano when he comes back from his injury assuming a hit. (Arellano is currently 74/74) if Arellano doesn’t fall, or he doesn’t fall hard, then I can move Griggs to an inside LB role a SILB and move Willis to WILB.

On the other hand…

Here is Porter, and OT is a bigger position of need with Hymes leaving my squad. But Porter is Hard to Read and a gamble. He’s very green though.

Which would you do?

I'll think on it!

I have been looking for another OT for a while. I grab Porter.

2.30 – I’d still like a good LB. The best are MLB Colin McWilliams and WLB John Alston. Do I wanna grab one? I prefer Alston.

3.30 – TE Clay Sanford? I need a 4th Te for my team and he seems to be a solid one.

4.30 – There is a very green OG on the board named Norman Ramirez. Do I want him? CB Travis Hamilton seems solid as well, but I prefer the OG. Ramirez has good bars like my new OT but no combines to measure by.

5.30 – I need another DLine. DT Tito Crane? DT C.J. Luong? I do Luong.

6.30 – RB Derrick Burns looks like a nice grower… I could grab him and them if he grows I could cut Wodarz and his cap…

7.30 – OC Stan Baker? CB Brad Duffy? I go Baker.

Rookie Lookie #1

1.30 – OT Jeffrey Porter, Temple, 15/75
2.30 – WLB John Alston, New Mexico, 37/56
3.30 – TE Clay Sanford, Utah, 35/54
4.30 – OG Norman Ramirez, Houston, 7/66
5.30 – DT C.J. Luong, Stanford, 27/53
6.30 – RB Derrick Burns, Kentucky, 49/61
7.30 – C Stan Baker, Tulsa, 21/65

There we are!

Contracts…

I extend these

WR Cleghorn
CB Foreman
LB Willis who will now end his holdout
DE Moyad

I have 3.3 mill left

The only one we didn’t extend of high quality is SS Grembowski

I massage my roster now that Willis is back.

Wanna see my top two rookies?

Here is Porter! As you can see his block str and end grew and his blocking skills are pretty good. If he develops to this he’ll be a solid OT!

Here’s my 2nd rounder SILB John Alston. As you can see, he’s fine with run d, and pass rush technique, but his strength isn’t a strength. His coverage is uneven and his thinking is better than his punching.

On the Green Page is… RB Burns who boomed and OT Porter

Rookie Investigation

At Qb this was, again, a one QB draft with a 37/71 at the top, and then a single QB in the 50s.

At RB after Burns boomed he is the best RB in the draft in the 6th round. Good stuff!

At TE Sanford was 2nd best after he held and others busted. The best TE is 46/71.

This was a horrible WR Draft with the best at 56, and only 4 in the 50s.

OC Baker is 2nd best in the draft

OG Ramirez is 4th best and UFA Devitt is 8th best

At OT, Porter is 3rd best behind two 78 pots.

At DT Luong isn’t even on the top 20 list.

At LB, Alston boomed and is sitting at 4th best. Griggs whom we were considering hard at 1.30 was taken 2.2 and is 59/82. Nasty.

Cool stuff!

Alright it’s time…

Time to move on from the Bucs. The Panthers, Saints, and Bucs are powerhouses, so the obvious place to move to is the Falcons, if they’ll have me. I’ll finish my postseason stuff and then move on.

This was my career in ten years with the Bucs.

2045 – 1-14-1
2046 – 2-14
2047 – 4-12
2048 – 12-3-1 – Lost Week 2
2049 – 13-3 – Lost in Super Bowl
2050 – 11-5 – Lost in Week 2
2051 – 10-6
2052 – 12-3-1 – Won Super Bowl
2053 – 13-3 – Lost in Week 3
2054 – 15-1 – Won Super Bowl

This was my toughest team with three years before the playoffs rather than 2 and a 10-6 season there were we didn’t make the playoffs.

Stats

Offensive

Passing

QB Abrams – 332 of 527, 3913, 31:10, 97.2 rating

Great rating, picks were down, that’s a record TD number. Welcome back!

Rushing

RB Kirk – 361 for 1569, 4.35 ypc, 10 scores

That’s leading all RBs in yards by 9, and has a down year in ypc, and 2nd in rush scores. Good stuff Kirk!

Receiving

Cleghorn is back! His 1271 yards was 2nd most by just 5 yards. Good stuff! Riley another great year catching that ball. Kirk was 3rd with 552 yards putting him over 2100 yards from scrimmage.

Blocking

Macias another All Pro, and Blair had his first All Pro as well. Good stuff! Rookie Porter was fine with 16 KRB with 44 KRO and a better than average % and just 2 sacks allowed.

Special Teams

K Poston – 43 of 50, Long of 54, 51 of 51

DANG PATs. Good stuff!

P Bruce – 77 punts, 43.9 avg, 29 in 20.

Okay again

Langlois – 1 KR RET TD

LB Willis – 27 special teams tackles

Defense

Kempthorne and Madison have swapped tackle numbers. Our most sacks was Heilprin with 12 which was pretty good, and came in 1.5 sacks behind the league leader. Moyad tied McGovern with 10 sacks, and as you can see, in a few years I have renovated my D Line. Nice right? Madison led my LB corps with 5 sacks. Willis led my team with 5 FF

Pass Coverage

Kempthorne had a great year in picks and led my team in pasdef. The league leader in INT was 9 and there was just one person with it, and no one had 8 or 7, so Kempthorne was tied with the 2nd highest picks with 2 other people. Good stuff!

I end the season… I score a 50…weird I know

The 2055 NFL Offseason

The Vikings have finished their move to Richmond

We want move to the Falcons, but they won’t have us…

Who am I going to instead?

Only three teams will take us… Las Vegas, Richmond, and Greenville. Who has the worst historical record? Who needs us?

Let’s try and take a team right after they moved and head to Richmond to take on the Vikings? They are also in the division with the heavy Green Bay Packers who won the Super Bowl two years ago

Hall of Fame

WR Braxton Wilcox – Our great WR with the Panthers, finished with 3 rings and 6 All Pros. Was my worst WR that filled that #1 role by talent but the most consistent. Picked at the top of the 2nd round.

OG Sammy Tatum -Was the best O Line during his run, drafted him in the 1st round with the Panthers in their first year, and finished with 5 All Pros, and 3 rings

Retirements of Note

From the Bucs –

S Raul Boyd – One of the oldest players with the team, won two Rings, no All Pros.

Other Abe’s Boys of Note

RB Cesar Lemoine – The first pick with the Bucs, three All Pros, no rings.

DE Edward Jordon – long time UFA player with the Bucs.

I’m surprised that Arellano didn’t retire on doctor’s orders -he dropped from 74/74 to 51/51 after his injury…

Staff Draft

We pick 17th

Our HC is Oliver Vernon and there is a much better guy on the board – Blaine Ferrell the DC from Arizona, with a suitability rating of 67.

At the OC our guy is Lionel Pinard, and he likes balanced offenses. I keep him as he is the best on the board with a suitability of 72.

At DC our current guy is Joey Parcells with a 62 suit and 43 Under. I grab the top DC on the board who is Giovanni Guthrie, with a 71 suitability and he likes True 3-4 so we will be building my 3rd 3-4.

The AC pick arrives. Our guy is Curtis McGregor and he is the best so I keep him.

At SC our guy is Byron Ramirez and he is way better than anyone else by 8 suitability so I make no changes

I make no changes to franchising anyone

With a 4-12 record last year we pick #2. The problem with this is obvious. If this is a one QB draft like the last few, then we won’t be getting a QB at the 1.2 spot. We need either a 2 QB draft with two studs available for us, or a 1 QB draft where the 1.1 heads elsewhere. Drafting at 1.1 is New England and they have the stud QB from last year’s draft at 45/70, so we may be lucky here. Is there a great QB in the draft?

There are three top QBs that I interview and we’ll look at come draft time! They are As Scouted, Very Underrated and Overrated. I interview some that may be there at 2.2.

I look at my roster. Any Abe’s Boys here? Nope

I cut everyone.

I have 267 mill ready for new players. Over on the Bucs, they did not franchise anyone which is good news for us.

Abe’s Boys UFAs to chase

P Hunter Greer OR Terrance Bruce

K Rickey Poston

Te Bradley Preston

OG Peyton Shelby

LB Andres Arellano

MLB Will Carney

S Antonio Grembowski

CB Raymond Fletcher

CB Rodney Coomes

DE Denzel Lemons

NT Jamie Williamson

I make some offers

Arellano wants 87 mill so I skip him. Carney won’t sign with me as he played with us at one point in time and didn’t like it. I offer P Bruce

Week 2 – NT Williamson signs.

Week 3 - Shelby and Preston sign for less money by millions to head back to the Bucs. We sign Fletcher and Poston.

Week 4 – Coomes and Grembowski sign

Week 9 – DE Lemons signs

Week 10 – P Bruce signs

Arellano’s demand has dropped to 68 mill but no one is knocking

Who’s ready for the draft?

The 2055 NFL Amateur Draft

At the top spot, the Patriots take…they trade the pick to Buffalo who takes… ILB Jon Limbert.

That leaves us three Qbs.

Lets’ unpack the two that aren’t overrated

Neither of these are absolute studs.

We’ll begin with the As Scouted and top QB on the board, Denzel Morrison. He’s good at most passing skills, but his accuracy isn’t good at all. He is low on the scrambling, which I prefer, I don’t want him taking carries away from my precious RB.

Now here’s the next QB on the board…

This is Ryan Ferguson. Unlike the other option, accuracy is arguably his best stat but his timing os off. Unfortunately, this is a big scrambler. He has no combines to look at. But this is the Very Underrated guy. I hate drafting a scrambler and runner, but do I have a choice?

What do you think?

I go with Ferguson…

Now let’s BAP this thang…

2.2 – I enjoy LT Rickey McDonald. Want a good LB? LB Devan Fox seems like a good option. Or SLB Elijah Gray. FS Calvin Schwartz? I do McDonald.

3.2 – Do I like RB Rod McElroy? I think Kirk might be let go next year since Tampa Bay has a stud backup and there’s no need to push RB here fiscally. How about DE Graham Snyder who looks pretty nice. MLB Ricardo Flowers? I like Snyder.

4.2 – Do I like OG Herb Brand? What about RT Ron Rivers? I prefer Rivers. Also I like DT Colin Sica.

5.2 – WLB John Horton?

6.2 – DE Mackenzie Malewitz? CB Avery Terry the best CB on the board? I go Terry.

7.2 – How about here? SS Taylor Dunlap is good at Punt Ret.

Rookie Lookie

1 – QB Ryan Ferguson, Iowa, 20/72
2 – LT Rickey McDonald, Western Michigan, 25/71
3 – DE Graham Snyder, 32/63
4 - RT Ron Rivers, 18/59
5 – WLB John Horton, 34/68
6 - CB Avery Terry, Texas A&M, 28/56
7 – SS Taylor Dunlap, 16/48

There you go!

I make offers to tons of UFAs

Week 2 – Arellano signs with us. We sign many more UFAs.

Week 3 – The rest sign!

Here are my rookies

Ryan Ferguson dropped. A mid 60’s QB might still get me there, but I’m not holding my breath. Abrams was my worst of my franchise QBs in the low 70s and he never really dominated. We’ll see what this guy can do after some development.

Here’s my only draft pick that did well. Good job McDonald!

On The Green Page we have those two players and none others.

Rookie Investigation

After busting, our QB wound up the FOURTH BEST QB. That’s sad. The best was 14/72 and was taken 2.7. The overrated one wound up 38/68… A 6th Round QB is just behind our 1.2 with 28/62!

This was a horrible year for Rbs, the best is 57 pot. Ditto TEs with 56. This was a bad year for WR. Only one had 60+ pot and he was at 62.

Our UFA C is the 3rd best

OT McDonald is 2nd best; OT Rivers is 7th best.

DE Snyder is 6th best DE.

After busting badly Horton is out of the top 20!

CB Avery Terry is the 18th best d back

Wow that was a bad draft….
