Bowling scores?

I don't if anyone on this board bowls that much, but I just started a bowling class at school with a few of my friends. Yes a bowling class, but all you do is just go there and bowl, its not like theres a mid term or final or anything. Anyway thats not te point. My brother is in the same class as me and kicks my ass everytime. He got 174 in the first game we played! This compared to my 131. I beat him in the second game though, 139 to 129 and lost the last game 133 or something to my broke 108. For anyone who bowls or has bowled, whats your usual score?

I bowl in a league every Wednesday night (been in the league 5 years). My average is 155, but I think it should be higher. Last night I got the first 200 game that I have had in over 2 years (a 203). I am too inconsistent on my spares to get my average where I believe it should be (high 160s). Probably because I don't go practice, just bowl in the league on Wed nights...

2 weeks ago, i went bowling for the first time in 8 years. played three games. 134 was my best score.

sad but true statement of the day: when i was about 12 years old, i actually took bowling lessons for a week with a buddy of mine. yes, summer vacations were that boring where i grew up...

Back in college, I enrolled in bowling class multiple times. So many times, that the lone 1/2 credit no longer counted toward my total enrollment. My scores sucked though, with an average between 120-140. However, I did bowl a 208 once.

I went bowling last weekend, in fact. After a one-year hiatus, and in three games scored a measley 87, 117, and 117.

I used to bowl a lot when I was younger. The last time I was in a league was when I was in 6th grade. My average back then was around 150. Now when I bowl I usually bowl between 160 and 200. High game is 225.

Hope you don't mind me picking you out wahoomac, but this one of the reasons why I like this board. Someone who has been lurking since 2001 and posted 19 times can jump right in with an on-topic reply to a relevant thread.

It's neat to think how many lurkers are out there, just waiting for threads like this one to contribute.

I bowl once every couple of years...generally I don't get too high of a score, but usually between 110 and 130.

When I played a lot my average was 150-160. My high game 250-260ish...I left a pin or two in the first frame, and struck out except for the last ball where I left a few standing. It has been a really long time since i have regularly bowled. Last year I put up a pair of 130s and an abysmal 110.

I was a bowling prodigy of sorts in my younger years(8-12). I took many lessons, bowled in leagues with adults and averaged around a 170 or so. The life got to me and I burnt out. Didn't bowl again until my last job, which allowed for large amounts of free time during the day to bowl. I never broke 150. I nearly killed myself because I knew I had already peaked. Now I smoke weed to kill the pain. Sad Really.

Getting into the tenth frame with a 300 game going(in league) is quite possibly one of the most nerve racking experiences ever.. cause everyone stops to watch you..

My average runs around 205 or so... i am a really good coach.. however i'm left handed so really not alot of people i can teach

i bowl when I can, still trying to get into a league around here. my league avg is 155 I think still but after I got my new ball I bowled better. Hi game was 240 (I think) and my high handicap game in league was 301

I came in 2nd in a handicap tourny that had like 700+ entries in it a couple of years ago. The lanes were super oily on the match play day (I barely qualified, like 5th from the bottom) so it helped me as I had a good amount of handicap and I throw a very slight hook (not a cranker like most did in the tourny). Anyways, I just kept winning. I didn't know I was beating these semi-pro guys scratch. Gets to the quarterfinals and I got a huge blister on my thumb, so I cut it off (dumb but I didn't know) and kept going. Beat that guy then met up with a fan fave in the semi's (top 3 with high score getting a bye). So the whole crowd is cheering for him every time he bowls, then I get up throw a strike and everyone groans, it was great I beat him finally in the 10th frame to go to the championship match. My hand was killing me but I just kept icing it and tried my best. Then of course, I was the fan favorite (since no one knew who I was except a few people) so there was like 200 people watching and yelling "You can do it!" which was really cool. I got crushed by like 60 pins cause my hand was going to fall off (it was my 7th game in a row that day) but I wouldn't trade the experience for anything, or the $1,700

Bowling is fun.

I use to bowl as a kid in tourneys and had a good average 150's but got tired of it a quit. My highest game ever was a 217 and I was half tanked when I did it. I just got back into it the past couple of months and am averaging about 140's right now.

Average about 175 now. A few years ago I averaged 190-195, but then I tore cartiledge in my wrist and my career took precedent so my game pretty much went to crap.

Hey...I'm trying to get my posts/day average up ! (This will be a 3-post day for me...a new record I am guessing).

I read this board almost every day, but I reply to topics only when I feel I have something to contribute. (Now that I am unemployed, I probably spend way too much time here).

Luckily, I have been around long enough to know what "Dola" means, remember wondering "who the hell is this Dean Houston guy", know where I don't want to put a trout, and have seen the antics of many a FOFC'er over the years.

Now that I have started posting, I'll probably see how fast I can reach 100 posts (or even 1000!)

Bowling is something I picked up in High School...my buddies and I were looking for something to do one summer, so we joined a league. I ended up buying my own ball and shoes, and upped my average to the 165-170 area. I haven't been bowling in a while, but me and some buddies, ironically, are going tonight. Should be fun

My high game is 236, high handicap game is 300 even.

Bowling left handed (in league play) is a huge advantage usually.. since your oil(if the lanes are even oiled) and your line will be virtually untouched all night long..

I used to average around 160 when bowling regularly (very long time ago)... now when I hit the lanes it's anywhere from 80-150 in a game.

It's bound to happen...so I might as well lay it out:

67.

78 on a great day!

I guess I'm more of a billiards player. Then again, well. I'm not real good at that either. Guess I just feel more 'comfortable' playing pool than bowling. Well, that, and attributing my performance to a lack of physical therapy and rehab. Hm.

I have been bowling since I was 8, 27 now.

I average 190 or so. My high game is 296. I have never thrown a 700 series, but I have thrown everything between 682-699. Right now I just bowl in a league on Thursday nights.

A guy on the other team last night shot 257-279-269 against us.

Bowl in a winter league 1 night a week. Average about 210 with a high game of 296 (choked hard) and a high set of 756. Any chance to get out and down a few beers regularly is a welcome diversion when you have toddlers (not that I don't love my kids, but you know...)

Great topic

***SNIP***

Boy you can tell how consistent I have been over the last three seasons on that site:

2000-2001: 152 fall league, 164 summer league
2001-2002: 157 fall league
2002-2003: 154 fall league
2003-2004: 152 fall league

Don't know whether this is good (consistency) or bad (not improving)...
