My parents have a very nice LG OLED TV. They bought it about three and a half years ago. I was over at their place yesterday and noticed that there is a faint shadow of the Fox News logo and banner burned into the bottom of the screen.

First World problem: Ever bought anything that's too good for its purpose?

I bought shower towels that are too big & thick. It's not easy to fold them for stacking in my closet, and they hardly fit on the towel rack. You could use one to dry off a family of hippos.

I feel like this is an impossibility. There is no such thing as too big and too thick when it comes to towels. Buy a bigger shelf.

I find it funny that the guy who does our Trugreen service is Scott S. Apparently M. Gro is unavailable.

Hey, when Arby's has 5 for 5, as much as I'd like I'm not eating five roast beefs in one sitting.

I generally like Arby's except the drink selection is terrible (as I recently posted about).

okay bastards, i just went to the drivethru and suffered the incompetence of kids running a restaurant. I got the reuben at half off since i jopined the club then had to wait for cashier to figure out how to do that...the rancid sandwich smelled particularly pancid and overly greasey sitting in the bag.

when i got it home it was still warm but not enough so i nuked it like 20 seconds. This bread is worthless as a fast food to go item

getting soggy esp with the sauce

however the kraut really makes this sandwich. the meat has an indistinguishable flavor yet i'd call the flavor "Warm Meat" flavor...and then the thousand island and kraut kick in. that's yummy.

Ha!

I love me a reuben, but that's one sandwich that makes me feel like a fat piece of crap by the time I finish it - regardless of who makes it.

I haven't been to Arbys in maybe 20 years. Actually I haven't eaten any cattle, pig or turkey meat since Christmas week 2019 when I vacationed at my brother's home. Just some grilled chicken breast every few weeks.

Used to eat tons of that stuff in my younger days. I have to admit, I'm craving a fast food burger and some fries. I'm going to crack by early summer...

We had to grab something quick to eat before a HS softball game last night. Wife suggested ... you guessed it ... Arby's.

I like Arby's simply because of the Nihilist Arby's twitter account.

I get the Impossible Whopper and fries when I have that urge. If you want to stay away from beef, it might be a viable alternative. It works for me, and now BK is really the only fast food place that I regularly (once every few weeks) go to.

After 20+ years, tomorrow is my last day at my current employer. The last 3 years I have seen a downturn in culture and morale that makes me glad I am leaving. During COVID we have had to come in every day without options for remote working or even empathy for adjusting to family life during all of this...my director even made a comment that 10% of the US is out of work and would gladly come to work here to follow the rules.

I have a new job which I start next month with our prime customer, and I will be essentially be doing the same thing I am now. I've never changed jobs (Started the one I have now after my freshman year in college as a co-op). The new one offers everything I had hoped...9/80 work schedules, flexibility to work from home, and advancement opportunities that seem limited at best at my current job.

I still can't help but to feel sad for what this place has become and sad for the people I leave behind, and in the same breath apprehensive for my future job. The group of people I work with are some of the best people I've ever worked with or met. Most of which are trying to leave too; I am just the first one to go. I

Good luck!

Changing jobs can be a gamble/mixed bag for sure, but I have done it every 5-7 years (just by circumstance) and have fallen upward so far. I'm hopeful that I've found the place I can retire, but that's a ways away and a lot can change.

dola- kidding aside, my wife went through literally the same thing as you 5 years ago. Worked for P and G right out of college for almost 20 years. The culture had gotten terrible but she felt trapped by a good salary, options, comfort level etc...when a golden opportunity opened she took the chance to leave and personally and professionally the best thing she ever did.

Thanks Lathum and Ksyrup.

I felt trapped by the amount of vacation I had. 6 weeks of vacation a year...given I take at least 15 days a year for officiating that left me with 3. Now with the every other Friday off and the new employer letting me work from hotel rooms remotely...I end up with the same if not more at my new place.

I have seen so many people make that one jump from their "career" job and end up so much better and happier in the long run. It's not that the other place was bad, but seemingly everywhere starts to take advantage of entrenched people after a while.

Once you hit middle age, you tend not to change your way of doing things unless forced to. You need to tell them you're not a dinosaur & don't have a fax.
