Wasteland 3 thread
Don't know if this will warrant it's own thread, but picked this up last night ans have to say I am quite impressed.
Only a couple of hours in, but the game play and combat, which was good in Wasteland 2 is really improved, which combat now very closely resembling XCOM 2. The setting is very well done and thus far the NPC's and factions encountered are fairly compelling. The character progression is straight out of the Fallout series and I can already see that decisions will have a big impact, both subtle and extreme on the story and game experience. Definitely a big thumbs up from me at this time. Last edited by BYU 14 : 08-28-2020 at 09:56 AM. |

I agree with BYU 14. I downloaded it this morning with my Gamepass subscription and was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't really on my radar but I've spent way too much time on it today. I hear the whole game is voice acted which is great as I hate reading blocks of text.

Nice. Thanks for sharing. Was considering waiting for this game to go on sale as I got too many games in the library right now. Always like to wait a bit as they patches and possibly add DLCs in the future so I can get it in one pack. But very pleased it is good from the get-go. Played Wasteland 2 twice.

I am so glad that I checked my GamePass first....after reading this, I went to make a purchase then thought I ought to check all my subscription services. Glad I did as it was on GamePass, save me a few $$$ I recently made the mistake of buying Crusader Kings III before checking and of course it was available there too Lesson learned.

Had my first big moral decision very early and it was brutal
Spoiler
I elected to make the choice with the most immediate benefit to me, not sure how that will come into play later, but it sucked LOL. Anther thing this does right that I like, when your squad goes down you have a chance to stabilize them prior to death, though they invariable get a debilitating injury (gouged eye, lame leg internal bleeding, etc) that will severely impact them until you get them healed, which is free once you get a doctor in your HQ. (Which is my next priority) |

Dang I want to play this but I just spent $160 on memory and purchased MS Flight Sim 2020. Plus I ordered Madden 21/NHL 21 and Phoenix Point DLC... I have to chill for a bit or the wife will kill me.
Keep the impressions coming though! |

Try GamePass, for only $4.99/month, could have Wasteland, Flight Simulator, and a ton more...it's great to have, especially for games you might be on the fence. |

I never sit and play video games for more than an hour or two at a time. 7 hours on this today and minus a couple of crashes it has been incredible fun. Just tied up the quest series that relates to the opening battle to start the game involving the Dorsey clan (Though I still have two of their leaders to deal with later) and it was totally satisfying.
A nice twist at the end forced me to make a choice that cost me a Doctor at my HQ at this point (I probably overthought the outcome) and set up an alliance I am not sure I want. I liked Wasteland 2, but it never completely sucked me in. This one has me completely immersed and sucked in more than any RPG since probably Fallout 2. |

Still playing this way more than i have played a video game in years and while I can't say there is one thing that really blows me away, the sum of the parts makes this a great game, everything just fits together well and the quests, while pretty much standard fair are very well designed. They continue to throw curves to the player and put you in a position to make tough choices and juggle delicate alliances.
Spoiler
Things like this are constant and really give the game that "one more quest" addictiveness. Last edited by BYU 14 : 09-01-2020 at 10:21 AM. |

I'm about halfway through this, I'm guessing, and I'd put it just below Original Sin 2 as the 2nd best modern isometric RPG I've played. It has an enormous amount of content and every area is more complex than what I've seen from every non Divinity CRPG recently.
Overall this is easily a 9/10 type of game for me and it's taken away a lot of CK3 time that I was expecting to have. |

We at least know now that Bots are more evolved than the Synths from Wasteland 3 in their ability to communicate with humans.
Back to the Patriarchs Museum for you good sir |

I finally played this game a while back now. A year or so ago and totally agree. I loved it!
