I really don't know what to expect here. We're definitely a lesser-talented team than last year, but last year's team surprised me tremendously.

So, um, when you have an interception-prone QB, I guess anything can happen if he throws those picks at the wrong time, including missing the playoffs while having a top offense AND defense.

I guess the most important part of the challenge for now will be coming up with a game plan that can help reduce his picks but that will still move the ball effectively.

The 2017 offseason starts with some hard moves being made. Our recent O-line draftees are going to get tested, because I had to cut three strong veterans for cap reasons. Also, an aging old friend got the axe. Gone are...

These cuts get us *barely* in position to field a legal team. We can afford to do nothing else in FA1.

2017 AMATEUR DRAFT

1(19): SLB-->WLB Martin Preston (19/49)--Should be a pass-rushing monster.
2(18): LT Nick Dole (17/40)--After all the cuts on the o-line, there's lots of opportunity there.
3(22): NT Al Sherman (38/46)--Pass-rushing specialist at NT. Blues in everything but agility. I have no NTs under contract, so he'll surely play a LOT.
4(21): RDE Carl Hulton (25/40)--Three blues at yet another position of need.
5(20): FL Artie Osterlund (18/25)--He was #112 overall, so I'm allowed to take him here. 4.37 40, but nothing special anywhere else. At least he's a big-play threat, and I only have 3 WRs under contract.
6(19): RG Tracy Tate (12/17)--3 blues
7(18): C Fernando Carter (16/39)--2-blue affinity guy.

Surprised about Dole going down. No surprises anywhere else. No particularly noteworthy changes for vets.

Extremely uneventful beginning to the offseason. I end up trading away my 3rd-7th picks to free up some cap space. I like that that move, unlike in my MP leagues, is actually coming at a cost.

No major retirements, cuts, or guys walking in FA. On to the draft.

Uh-oh. WR Price is holding out. This could cause a ripple effect on chemistry. I didn't mention it in my first post, but my two positional leaders retired. I was planning on replacing them cheaply in FA2. May not be able to afford to do so now.

Yeah, I end up having to go with a minsal positional leader with only 23 leadership. This is going to really hurt my formerly-strong chemistry.

#9 roster rating, and top 10 in all four cohesion categories. We should be solid, but I'll be really surprised if this team repeats.

2019 offseason begins uneventfully. A couple of old guys retire, and I make one cut: RT Damon Coffey Player Details

Coffey was getting starter money and had lost his starting position.

After the cut and renegs, we only have around $3M to play with. It's not enough to do anything worth doing in FA1, but is enough to shore up chemistry, so that's what I do. I won't bore the readers with the details

2019 AMATEUR DRAFT

1(31): RB A.J. "Steady" Cash (23/28)--Red dash and only 26% developed. Should play for a long time.
2(31): QB Hugh Horner (8/24)--four blues, double affinity (will be triple once I get OL chemistry together), and big sense rush bar. Posting his player card, too. It could get interesting at QB.
3(31): C Randall Borders (21/50)--1 red, 2 blues. Could be an eventual starter.
4(23): FB Neal Grenier (16/24)--One red, four blues. Position of need in the near future, as both of the FBs I have under contract are getting old.
5(26): TE Kevin Lee (18/33)--1 red, 2 blues, but a green. Weird guy all around at 6'6", 271. I had to give him a shot.
5(31): FS J.T. Finley (17/43)--3 blues
6(31): RG Mitch Griffith (19/31)--3 blues
7(24): FL Carl Graham (16/31)--2 blues, #195 player. Need a WR to fill the roster. Affinity.
7(31): QB Spender Banes (3/26)--no-combine affinity guy with odd-looking bars.

Nothing much interesting in FA2. Training camp, however, was a different story.

2019 TRAININC CAMP

1(31): RB A.J. "Steady" Cash (23/28-->27/34)--(+4/+6)
2(31): QB Hugh Horner (8/24-->12/36)--(+4/+12)
3(31): C Randall Borders (21/50-->26/52)--(+5/+2)
4(23): FB Neal Grenier (16/24-->17/25)--(+1+1)
5(26): TE Kevin Lee (18/33-->20/34)--(+2/+1)
5(31): FS J.T. Finley (17/43-->22/43)--(+5/0)
6(31): RG Mitch Griffith (19/31-->22/34)--(+3/+3)
7(24): FL Carl Graham (16/31-->18/30)--(+2/-1)
7(31): QB Spender Banes (3/26-->5/28)--(+2/+2)

We also had an undrafted rookie WR named Norman Conaty who went from 11/22 to 17/32 (+6/+10). On the negative side, WR Newhart was -7/-7 in only his 8th season.

It's pretty much the same team that has put up back-to-back 13-3 seasons, so I'm certainly hoping/expecting something similar this season.
