It's hard to remember now, years past his absolute prime, how major a media figure he once was. He brought his unbelievably popular talk radio format to television and really ushered in an era of "watch news and news-like things all evening long" as a mentality appealing to a lot of Americans who would never have considered that as an option.

Flawed, but absolutely remarkable in many ways.

Another cultural legend. He existed as a way to 'meet' and get to know celebs and personalities before the internet, twitter and Facebook. He loved many women, and was a big personality all on his own. He certainly was a person who made the world a smaller place.

I remember watching him on CNN way back when. But after CNN, he seemed to do some "dubious" specials which hurt his brand IMO. I'm sorry he has passed though, certainly a trailblazer.
