RIP Christopher Plummer
Christopher Plummer, 'Sound of Music' actor, dead at 91
Is it just me or is 2021 hitting us hard already?

He was so active, even his later years, 2-4 movies every year. Including that whole deal a few years ago where they flew him out to re-do all of Kevin Spacey's scenes in 8 days.
I also saw him recently in Starcrash, a horrible 1978 Star Wars-ripoff, which I watched just because I listened to the How did This Get Made podcast about it. Plummer explained later that he realized the film was terrible, he just wanted a free vacation in Rome where his scenes were filmed. I believe the quote was, "Give me Rome any day. I'll do porno in Rome, as long as I can get to Rome." |

Plummer is a big one, but I just look at this as when you're 91, chances are you won't be around much longer. Most of the famous deaths lately have been of that flavor. So many good roles. So many. |

From Terry Gilliam: With great sadness I have to report that Doctor Parnssus has left The Imaginarium. That majestic, beautiful, and utterly wonderous actor, Christopher Plummer is no longer with us. I held him in absolute awe and felt privileged to be able to work with him not once, but twice. Chris was the epitome of elegant, effortless skill.. a totally class act. Despite that, he was game to go with what ever I threw at him, no matter how uncomfortable or absurd. In 12 Monkeys he had to perform while uncomfortably zipped into a body bag with his eyes taped shut. As Doctor Parnassus he had to dangle over a precipice, hooked on the Devil's fishing line. All of this was done with such immaculate grace and good humour. It made him such a joy to work with. He elevated every moment with sublime gravitas or gentle charm or a wicked twinkle. His intelligence glowed and spread through everything he did. I thought his spark would be sparkling for us much longer so his death has caught me by surprise. I already miss him terribly and I hope to God they don't play Edelweiss at his funeral. It would kill him. |

This movie may be worth a watch for you. That is definitely the scene where she is the most-clothed the whole time. Last edited by molson : 02-06-2021 at 11:28 AM. |

This is one of those deaths, where at 91, you kind of understand. A hell of a full life.
He seemed to be getting better with age, but I think it was a market correction because some of the guys he would've been challenged with passed on in life. He also grabbed an Oscar late in life ( and a Tony and Emmy early) which is a nice trifecta. I liked him in Knives Out and while the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was a hard watch, he was good in it.
