Well, we had our first vacancy of the season today. Let the discussions about who to hire and fire begin!

This may come as a surprise, but, I think Norv Turner should be fired next.

Who do you think Gene Smith and the new guy for the Jags will hire for them? Who would be on your radar as a brand new owner of them?

Depending on how quickly the sale moves, I don't think Smith will even be there. The new deal was simply a thanks for putting up with Del Rio parachute.

Though Smith didn't do a very good job stocking the cupboard.

Really? Cause I feel that Jags fans and people think Gene has done a great job finding and identifying talent. And I agree. Derek Cox? Terrence Knighton? Tyson Alualu? We'll see how Gabbert shakes out, and drafting a QB that high will make or break you as a Gm, but i think Gene Smith has done a great job with personnel.

There isn't a serviceable receiver on the roster, Marcedes Lewis needed to be replaced last year at TE and the OL is having a tough time blocking anyone.

Besides drafting a QB who is obviously in over his head, the offense is a mess and has been lacking in talent for several years. Jones-Drew can only carry so much of the load.

I don't think Gbbert is ready to play this year. Ultimately they could have signed a guy like Hasselbeck for a year, or they could have kept Gerrard. Getting rid of Del Rio is like cutting out a cancerous tumor. At least they got that correct. Whomever whiffed on Derek Harvey really screwed the pooch.

I think Whisenhunt might be on the hot seat for my beloved Cards, not sure if its to the point of firing yet, but another season like this and the past one and he's gone. Not going with Leinart last season-leading to the abominations at that position-which lead to the Kevin Kolb trade, which so far is not going so well, and Cardinal nation grows restless about his tenure as coach.

He was let go three years ago, and since then, hi successor has made smart football choices. Things that Shack Harris did wrong would stagger a mule, from mega-bucks at Jerry Porter, Hugh Douglas and Drayton Florence, and drafting players like Matt Jones, Derrick Hervey, Quentin Groves, Reggie Williams, and many other busts. With woeful drafting and horrible free agent signings, he was the architect of disaster. And not in a good way.

Since then, Gene Smith has made good FA signings (like Poluszny and Aaron Kamptman) and strong drafts, some of which I've mentioned above.

It would not surprise me (if he did go to Dallas) that he would have a pretty decent homecoming of sorts and would more than likely have some success there. Lousy head coach/pretty good O-coordinator.

I just want to say that if I were a brand new owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars, my first coaching conversation with my Gm would be about the potential of hiring Jeff Fisher. We'd look at the usual suspects - like Bill Cowher and some up and coming talent, but I think you have to start with Jeff Fisher - he knows the division, he's a great coach, and he'd bring some spark to the team and fans easily. (Even if he did coach our rivals).

I think Jacksonville needs to go with someone realtively young and fresh from the offensive side of the ball. That's where the overhaul really needs to happen.

Colts go 0-16. Fire Caldwell and hire Cowher. Draft Luck. Win Super Bowls.

Rumors have it that they are interested in Jay Gruden. I think he'll eventually make a good HC, but it seems awfully early to give him control of an NFL team.

Cowher has no interest in rebuilding, which is what he would be facing in Indy.

The team that makes the most sense for Jeff Fisher is the Giants. They need a players coach after years of Tom Coughlin, and it's a team that is still very much a contender. Perfect fit.

Problem with the Colts is that the other 7 draft picks will all be busts after Luck. They've gone full Millen recently on the draft.
