Secret Codes??? FOF manual
i was looking over the FOF manual.
and i saw this in it. Secret Codes There are many hidden secret codes that allow you to change the Front Office Football universe. Codes can give a ratings boost to players on a roster, reduce ratings or make a team much more popular with its fans. Watch www.FrontOfficeGames.com for the periodic revelation of various codes. what is that about? |

Try typing 'I Love Telemarketers' while a player window is open. A clip of a 70s slasher movie will load up and play.

Surely you cant be serious? Never tried it, but wouldn't the Commish see that someone activated a code if it is possible? And wouldn't the rest of the league see that someone's team is all of the sudden at max statistics or low?

If they do work in MP (I haven't tried), then it would only matter if they were run on the Commish's iteration of the game (since that's where all the processing is done) and yes, it would be obvious to everyone else in the league. |

I think that's a bit misleading. Yes, you can enter the codes in a MP league, but (I am pretty certain) the results do not get sent into the league central game -- they are not part of the game export/import function. So, it's not like you can key in a code and suddenly your team in your MP league bursts out with huge ratings increases. |

What about the RookieShow code? Couldn't that make a big difference in MP?

As I recall, the RookieShow code only serves to tell you what number ratings the "blue" ranges include for unrevealed rookie players. You can pretty easily eyeball that your guy has a rating from "about 55" to "about 75" without the code. With the code, you might know that it's actually 55-74. Not exactly a threat to the competitive balance.

I doubt there will be another FOF5 patch. This last one was for obvious reasons and was "put out" in just a week. Perhaps work will be put into a new patch after TCY2 is released and patched a couple of times.

Again, it seems to be something that your commish needs to run. If you can't trust your commish not to use codes to make one team indestructable, then you may want to wonder about being in the league in the first place. |

Yeah, that was misleading, my fault. Only way they can be applied and used is if input by the commish and the game saved. But it would be fairly obvious to everyone when they saw an entire team with players maxed out in the 80s and 90s. My initial post was just saying that the possibility is there to use them in an MP league, and that they're not completely disabled. |

Are you sure that the MP main files will be affected by a cheat code boom if a participant uses it and his export gets used? If you are correct in this, then it's my own statement above that is misleading. My impression is/was that if I use the special code to make my players boom, and then send in an export to my MP league, the commissioner can import that file but the "boom" won't carry over into the MP league. Which, essentially, means that the code is diasbled for practical purposes in a MP league. |

Exports don't send things like revised ratings....changes done to an owner's file like that would not be reflected in the commissioner's file. |

No, no, no.. I meant its only possible if the commish himself put in the codes. I don't believe the export files from participants would matter. So I agree with your above statements. |

Hey... Duane Gates, is that you? I thought you were busy starting another league to cheat in. Oh what's that? Everyone knows you cheat and didn't want to join your FOF league so it closed? That's too bad... no, really, it is. |

I just did a test and the ratings changes don't import with a file from a participant as we thought. Only way it can be employed in MP is if the commish himself does it. So just say away from a league run by Duane Gates or someone else you don't trust, and everything will be fine. |
