Electric Tea Kettles

I was just informed that these don't exist in the US. Like a tea kettle that plugs into an outlet. Is this true, this seems insane to me but I thought that you being an upstanding cross-section of society could confirm or deny these voracious rumours for me. Although you guys do call toques knit stockings for some crazy reason so...

I have one at work. They exist, but are far from plentiful.

I have seen them, but they tend to be used mostly by folks who are really into tea. I use an electric hot water heater to boil the water and then make the tea that way - so to me it seems about the same.

Of course they do! #fofcresidentteasnob

Most stores sell them online for sure. I too, use an electric water heater. My tea store even sells electric tea kettles with infusers for loose leaf tea.

They absolutely do. Not super-common for good ones with multiple temperatures, but you can get them. I have a 4.0L zojirushi water boiler on my counter right now. In fact, I need to make myself a cup of tea...

Who knew there were this many loose-leaf tea drinkers in this place!

I need a cup of tea after reading this thread - and yes, Young Drachma, I'm sure there are more than a few - might be worth creating a thread for it and we can swap favorite types, etc.

Best idea ever. Will do it right now! I never would have thought there were so many here either.

I've been exclusively tea for a number of years now - after all those years working at Starbucks.
