Strat-o-Matic Replay Suggestions
Given I have more time at home now with the quarantine, and given there are no sports on TV, I thought I'd see about doing a SOM Replay. I have several options, and would like input from the board to see if anyone has any preferences. Basically there are 3 options the way I see it.
1. I have 20 seasons available and can do a relay on any of the 20. 2. I can take allstar teams from the AL and NL for all 20 season and create a tournament 3. i can use my Hall of Fame season and allow board members to pick players from the 20 seasons to field an FOFC team that will compete against the best of all time (like I did years ago here) Let me know what you'd like me to do... |

If you don't recall the previous dynasty, the link provided shows what happened but not how it was configured. Basically, the way it worked was:
Players that were interested found a ML player from one of the seasons listed above that didn't already exist in the league (HOFers basically), they would then change the player's name but use their stats based "card" as part of the FOFC team. The FOFC team would be comprised of the best single season players that FOFCers could come up with from the 20 seasons and they would compete against HOF players, Negro Leaguers, Japanese and Caribbean All Stars. Just wanted to clarify what/how the 1st option in the drop down works. It's been a REALLY LONG TIME... |

well this has fallen a bit flat...i'm going to play some strat on my own anyway. Given that we really don't have enough interest to do the Dynasty League again like I did years ago, I figure 1985 works as well as anything else. I've started setting up the season schedule, default lineups, rotations, etc. hopefully, I can start posting game results in a few days.

Lol... I meant the 1996 seasons... they were bought brand new 24 years ago... I just found them... sorry! I do probably have 8-10 seasons (cards). Including Statis Pro, APBA, and PTP I probably have even more...

That's awesome. He'd be like the Scrooge McDuck of SOM.

I was also wondering where you store that many cards...they are small, but I have a few, and they are in cigar boxes...96 cigar boxes takes up a lot of space.

Given the slow initial response I thought the single vote for 1985 was going to be the only one I got, so I started configuring the teams. Unfortunately, during test play, i was getting way to many strange results and relief pitchers with 200 IP, so i got into the more detailed configurations. That has taken me a bit longer to complete and unfortunately, I'm probably going to miss what I had hoped to be opening day - Today. Still pushing to finish, but I have most of the National League to still get through. But be on the lookout for the 1985 replay...it's coming soon.

Chas, I'm playing on a real old version...so old that it isn't supported anymore and my past seasons are not playable in the new version. The company changed their licensing year ago (when I had a bunch of little kids), and I missed the final chance to exchange my previous purchases, so the only way I can play is to do it in the version I had 15 years ago. I was extremely irritated with SOM after that fiasco and stopped playing, so i really have no experience with the new version. This one is basically a pretty faithful digital version of the dice game. There was an encyclopedia function that would allow you link season results so you could see how a career unfolded, but for the most part each season is independent and based on the season cards.

Shoot. I can't. I'd have gone 85.

I've been contemplating buying the new version of the game so I can buy up old digital seasons...maybe starting from the time I started watching baseball (87). I'm in the irritated boat a bit as well...as I bought a version of SOM's computer game (2015 as I recall) that apparently the rosters they have currently are not compatible with.
