End of an Era - Chicago Out
Well, Chicago had a nice run for the wildcard but failed in the end.
With that I announce my resignation from running the Hornets. My wife and I are leaving for Ireland tomorrow morning and we will be gone for six weeks (or three SLOP seasons). It's time to let someone else run the show. I will not have time to try to keep up while traveling even if I could depend on wi-fi everywhere. So I'll say so long and wish everybody the best of luck. I am proud of my three championships. I'm glad Bobby Foster (age 40) managed to get his 250th win, but his career is effectively over. As the player I created (modeled after Roy Halladay), he had a great career including 251 wins, 125 complete games, 37 shutouts (including one no hitter), and 3,483 strike outs. Hall of Fame stuff. 14 times pitcher of the month and nine times all star. And franchise player Steve Chowen is still going strong at age 37. This year he hit .311 with 54 homers and 126 RBIs. Long the best catcher in the game after a couple of years at 1B, he has switched back to 1B in his later years. He has 619 home runs and 1,732 RBIs. 24 time player of week, 7 time batter of month, and 15 time all star. He won a silver glove as a catcher and four as a 1B. Good luck to whoever becomes the new Chicago owner.

Indeed it's the end of the era. Hell of a run you had!
When you get back, if you're still pining for SLOP action do drop me a note. You'll always have a home here. Great work! |
