Wild West Championship Wrestling- TEW 2005, DOTT

--Tuesday Week Three, Dec. 1983--

Goodbye MACW!!!

Day one for WWCW, and a ton of offers are going out. To keep roster cost down, I'm only going to offer contracts to the unemployed at first, then set up a couple of promotional pacts, and bargain shop to fill out my roster. With the industry and the economy both on the decline, there are actually some pretty good jobless workers right now.

I chose the Southwest to start my hardcore promotion simply for the atmosphere: a nice amount of bloodthirsty modern/hardcore fans. Ironically, Southwest Championship Wrestling, which is an existing hardcore promotion, is based in San Antonio, which is considered Mid-South. My only competition for Southwest audiences are Polynesian Pro Wrestling (ha!) and friggin' GLOW. Neither New England, nor Great lakes have existing promotions, but I'd rather co-exist with shitty promotions than have shitty regions all to myself. Tri-State would've been a more ideal place to start a hardcore promotion and Southeast probably would've been too, but I a) want nothing to do with McMahon, and b) don't want to compete with GCW, CWF and CWA at the same time.

I start with 40% prestige, $500,000, and C- popularity across the country.

Here we go...

Good to see some Wrestling on here as all the others seem to have been abandoned. I don't even watch it anymore and haven't for years, but I'm strangely addicted to foolowing the threads here.

Yeah, I haven't watched wrestling for like 10 years, so it was nice to watch the TEW DOTT dynasties...until they were abandoned.

Greg Valentine named wrestler of the year--a guy who I let walk from MACW, and whose offer I declined to work for WWCW. Shows how much I know.

I can schedule shows at will, as all of my shared workers top priorities are WWCW. Yay!

Signed:

Carlos Colon defeated Buddy Rose with a Belly To Back Cradle Suplex.
Colon claims the WWCW Heavyweight Title. (A+)

Show Rating: A

Improvements:
Raven, Sabu, Von Erich, Michaels, Landell, Fernandez- Performance Skills
Austin, Michaels- Technical Skills

Notes:
Austin and Somers don't click as a team

Thoughts:
Wow, an A rated show. The angles really gave it a boost. We lose almost five grand, but I'm not too worried about that. I used everybody on the roster, and I'll continue to do so for a while. Once I figure out what I have, I'll start giving days off to the higher paid guys, cut the Nationwide show down to 60 minutes, and of course...trim the fat. Because Pat Patterson is only a semi-active wrestler, I'll only book him in matches in the southwest where he has the A popularity. He'll hold the Southwest title most of his active tenure. Also, because I have so many young guys, I'm thinking of adding an under 25 junior lower level title, and bumping the hardcore title up to midcard.

Pat Patterson defeated Shawn Michaels in a non-title Table match. (C)

Carlos Colon pinned Playboy Buddy Rose with a Belly To Back Cradle Suplex at 23:25 to make defense #1 of the WWCW Heavyweight Title. (B+)

Show Rating: B-

Improvements:
Raven- Performance
Pritchard- Performance
Patterson- Performance
Michaels- Performance x2

Thoughts:
Why on earth would I decide to make my "away" shows small? I lost $5,725 this show. They're getting bumped up to medium.
With 2/3 of my roster at F popularity in Tri-State, I needed every shameless angle and gimmick match I could book to keep the show afloat 'til the main event. We've got Sally shooting T-shirts around, barbed wire, and 42 year-old Pat Patterson piledriving 18 year-old Shawn Michaels through a table. Helluva main event though. Two guys with C and C+ popularity in the region putting on a 23 minute B+ match to close out the show.
All in all, the question is this: Was it worth 57 hundred and change to put on a B- hardcore show in Vince's backyard and bump our popularity to a C in the region? Why yes, yes it was.

Steele just left WWF, want to see what his asking price is. Also want to see if Valentine's price has dropped after a few weeks of unemployment. I didn't think I'd be in a position to put on an A show and still make a profit this early into it. Not that $825 is anything, and I did raise ticket prices, but still. Thoughts:

Another good show in McMahon country. Although it wasn't quite a sellout, we still made a few hundred bucks. I've really been contemplating the idea of a lightweight division with it's own title, but I'd need to get a couple more workers to fill it out. Ideally I'd like to have two skilled, upper midcard level workers to fued over the belt and train up the youngsters in their spare time. The only thing is: I can't justify paying these guys very much, since A) The Lightweight Title would be a low level title, and B) I'd be using these two every single night. The good thing is, that I've got one, a face, in Hector Guerrero, who makes $600 per. That, I can deal with. Gotta find one more...

Calos Colon and Pat Patterson don't click

Thoughts:
I definitely reined it in on this show, sat some expensive guys and turned a $6,977 profit. It was only a B rated show, but how was I to know that two of my main eventers don't click. Even still, they pulled of a B+ match. Woe is me.

--Sunday Week Four, Jan. 1984--

Bruno Sammartino Jr. defeated Tim Horner for the GCW Junior Heavyweight Title

--Monday Week One, Feb. 1984--

WWCW made $707 in it's first month.

--Tuesday Week One, Feb. 1984--

The attempt to negotiate a contract with Eric Embry failed because a previously unprecidented rule in the bylaws states that he is uneligible for negotiations at this point because of the status of his existing contract with SWCW.

Negotiation Requests:
--Koko B. Ware
--La Fiera

Television Negotiations:
--MTV
--ESPN
--USA

PPV Negotiations:
--American Option

Title Modification:
--The WWCW Southwest Title will now be known as the NWA Western States Title and will be a Main Event Title

Thoughts:
That's a lot of stuff there. Hope to get Koko on the cheap after the Embry debauchle; hope to land a television show on one of these medium-sized networks. If not, a small network wouldn't be disappointing.

Notes:
Raven and Shawn Michaels don't click
Eddie and Hector Guerrero have great chemistry
Eddie Guerrero and King Killer have pretty good chemistry

Thoughts:
We made $4,300 this show. Buddy Landell is getting pretty upset about not being used while he is "injured" so I'll have to find ways to use him. I'm on stage 3 of this storyline and Landell wasn't set to "surprisingly appear" until stage 13, so I'm bringing him back early, just to have him attacked again after stage 9, so it actually will be a surprise when he appears. Eddie and Hector having great chemistry equals one turning on the other and entering into a storyline at some point. It'll probably be Hector turning, as he's better as a heel then a face. Eddie is good at both. Since Eddie and Killer have pretty good chemistry, maybe I can find (or write) and angle where Eddie and Killer fued to a special ref blowoff with Hector as the ref who screws Eddie. Then, I can evolve it into a Eddie v. Hector. Nice...

La Parka- Performance
Tom Pritchard- Performance x2
Lance Von Erich- Performance x2

Thoughts:

Rose and Colon continue to put on killer matches and Landell is still at the announcer's table because of this stupid angle that has him out injured for-freaking-ever. He'll be back in action soon, and then I'll re-injure him so the angle still makes sense. A $1,575 profit for the show...I can deal with that. Now I need a goddamn TV show!
