11...d5?! seemed weak by your opponent, blunting his own bishop and denying his N's access to your dark squares as he would've had with an eventual ...e5 (after castling).
I like the b5 tactic. I think he would've been better off taking on b5 and dealing with the consequences of bxB, RxR BxR, RxB Nc6, Nxb5 0-0, which is by no means pretty... Good job though, you took good advantage of your opponent's mistakes. |

Starting tomorrow I will be beginning two new video series:
1) Live commentary during standard chess games (15 mins or more, but usually 15 mins due to time constraints on making an entertaining video). This will come with some discussion about ratings, results, and things I have learned or am trying to learn. 2) Live analysis of random GM games. I will just pick a game with no knowledge of moves or results ahead of time and attempt to analyze it live on video. I will use no computer engine assistance. I will very likely look up openings so that I can at least learn some new opening lines a little. |

My first in the series of live standard games. These games are straight 15 minutes, as close to random opponents as I can get.

Live Master Game Analysis #1
No knowledge of moves, results, players, or ratings. Just hit load random game and stepped through it. |

For those that didn't watch the master analysis video and like the puzzles, there is a pretty cool one that comes from that game.
White to play and win. If you watched the video, you know the answer. |

Monster video today. Almost 45 minutes on one master game analysis. Still fun even if it makes me look silly in a lot of places.

Standard Game #2 - I will be modifying the series a little bit because the game is too fast. I will probably move to either 15 15 or 20 20 insteead of 15 0.

Two videos today. The first one is standard game #4. You can see my rating's progress through this experiment in the pane on the right during the video.
Second video is yet another master game analysis video. #3. If you prefer my annotations with diagrams instead of watching the videos, here is Standard Game #4's annotation: Scid export |

My chesstempo rating fluctuates a lot, but I believe it will be increasing generally, now. I seem to have fought past a little block and it has been rising steadily the last few days.

Was thinking this dynasty is more like a blog for me than what most here would consider a dynasty. I have therefore decided to move off-site to a blog:
omgchess I am serious about this blog, so feel free to bookmark and follow if you are interested. |

2 and a half years later, I have come a long way in my journey to be good at chess. My chesstempo rating is around 1900, my FICS rating is over 2000 (though that's a fluke), but my USCF rating is only 1563 (just no tournaments around here, so my improvement hasn't had a chance to show there).
I recently finished 2nd place in a pretty strong online tournament and I've started a new blog and started analyzing the games there. Thought I'd give an update since I know we have a couple of chess players on the board. Here is the new blog: Gorgonian's Chess Site - Blog |
