Just saw a commercial for the NFL Awards show coming up. Kelly Clarkson is hosting. I love her, and am all for equality, just seems like a bit of an odd choice.

I knew that's what they were going for. I'm not a fan of the show but I've seen small bits of it. I was like that meme that went around a while back that almost everyone here thought was just the funniest thing ever with Bernie Sanders wearing gloves/mittens. Meanwhile I thought it was just not funny at all.

It's not a case of not getting it, it's a case of getting it and not finding it entertaining/amusing/etc.

I get it, but having not watched BrBa I'm not exactly going to go all fanboy over it. You get actors to revisit roles for a commercial. Ok, great.

re: Clarkson, I dunno. What's the target audience for the NFL Awards show? I know IDGAF about it. Is it for people who watch awards shows? (Also, does she wear anything that does not look like a big bulky set of curtains anymore?)

I have not. I recognize the dude from Malcolm in the Middle was in Breaking Bad but that's about the extent of it.

I'm past the target age group for these ads anyway, so they aren't losing a potential sale because I don't get the commercial.

I guess I'm in the middle on that ad. It's funny enough ... but damn I suspect it'll get tiresome after a few runs.

Apparently Avocados From Mexico was trying to do an ad where a QR code would direct people to ChatGPT where they would then talk to an AI about avocados.

I think that we are all better off that they ended up dropping that idea.

Genuinely an impossible task... I didn't even look at stats or career longevity, just going off my feel. I think there's only maybe one name on that list who doesn't deserve to be in eventually, no idea how it all gets sorted out.

Most controversial pick - a guy who mostly returned kicks, but was the best ever to do it. The second part of that sentence is why he's a right now guy for me.

I'd have to dig to find it, but Robert Mays (admitted Chicago homer) had a podcast where he did the case for Hester. And it convinced me.

If the very best kickers and punters get into the HOF, then the very best kick returners should too, IMO.

Same caveat as bhlloy that this is my gut. An hour of stat research might tweak my list.

I am just going with my initial thoughts as well.

5 now
Joe Thomas
Willie Anderson
Devin Hester
Zach Thomas
Reggie Wayne

3 later
Darelle Revis
Demarcus Ware
Andre Johnson

I really struggled with Wayne, Revis, Ware and Johnson. To be more accurate, I struggled how to judge what is HOF worthy when it comes to the modern passing game especially when it comes to the WR, TE, DE, CB positions. For example, I think Ware and Allen are HOFers but maybe that is because they piled up more sacks and pressure numbers in a league that was more focused on the passing game.

Let’s see..easy selections
Revis
Thomas

Freeney over Ware and Allen cause he forced 12 and 15 more fumbles. Other two guys go on the next 3 list

Hester cause you couldn’t kick to him.
Reggie Wayne over the other receivers.

Barber joining Ware/Allen on the next 3 list because he’d be the most qualified DB not in the hall already.

The Browns are local favorites and haven't been since they reappeared as an expansion team. Joe Thomas was a legend here. Since they play the Jets at home this season, and the Bucs haven't been at the HoF game since the late '90s as well, book the Browns and Bucs.

intriguing case for Corderrelle Patterson one day, then? Less terror than Hester (or Dante Hall) triggered, imo, but... by the numbers, hmmm....

So, I decide to look up on a story about the Hall of Fame class, hence I go to the NFL's website. All I see is a picture of Rihanna, no text whatsoever visible to explain anything, until scrolling down a bit and getting 'exclusive sneak peek with Rihanna". For a second I seriously wondered whether I went to the right website.

Is it just me or does this game seem to be lacking in some buzz?

I can’t put my finger on exactly why I feel this way.

2 teams that have won in recent memory.
Neither team is a big underdog.
Neither team seems to have a lot of national hate or national love.

And no grand story. I’m rooting for Gardner Minchew to get a ring.

Rumors are saying that the Colts want the Eagles OC as their next head coach, but won't announce it until after the Super Bowl and the ink on the contract has dried.

Sounds like the Indianapolis Colts are hoping to hire current Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen as their next head coach. I'm really glad it sounds like it won't be Jeff Saturday.
