I have my 21 year old SS coming up. I'm really excited to see him play. The guy will hit .300 (might not hit that this year but will get there) and is a defensive wizard. Quite a few Gold Gloves in his future. I've never had a SS like Herrera before.

Otani Stops Toronto
Friday, April 26th, 2137: He didn't put a spell on them. It wasn't black magic, it was just old-fashioned good pitching. That's how Sotatsu Otani of the Hammersmith Hooligans blanked the Toronto Marlboros 4-0.

After tossing a complete-game 2-hit shutout, he was all smiles, saying, "I threw a lot of my pitches for strikes in this game. I mixed it up and tried keeping these guys off balance."

His own skipper said, "He's at his best when he gets ahead of the hitters." Otani walked 1 and struck out 6 in the victory.

The Marlboros manager commented on their lack of success against him, saying, "He was throwing his breaking ball for strikes and we never capitalized on any of his mistakes."

Otani has fashioned a 3-1 mark for the season, 3.13 ERA and thrown 37.1 innings in 5 starts. Opposing clubs are batting .237 against him.

We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Palbes enjoy the limelight.

Sensational Month for RL Rookie
Saturday, June 1st, 2137: David Reeves is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Republic League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In May the Colorado hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .330 average with 29 hits, no home runs and 7 RBIs.

This year Reeves is batting .311 with 1 home run.

Palbes Heads the Rookie Class
Saturday, June 1st, 2137: Dani Palbes's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Baltimore first baseman has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In May he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.

During the month he hit .362 with 9 doubles, no triples and 3 home runs. Palbes also scored 18 times and drove in 14 runs.

Presently Palbes is batting .351 and has collected 9 home runs, 37 RBIs, .428 OBP and scored 34 runs.

Gwang-soo Chong Named RL Rookie of Month
Monday, July 1st, 2137: Gwang-soo Chong was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 22-year-old shortstop definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen June's Republic League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 24 games Chong batted .394 for Colorado, slapping 37 hits in 94 at-bats with 2 home runs, drove in 9 runs and scored 15 times.

Presently Chong is batting .316 with 2 home runs and 30 RBIs. He has played in 78 games and scored 42 times.

CL Spotlight Shines on Rookie Star

Monday, July 1st, 2137: Ernesto Torres earned June's Rookie of the Month honors in the Continental League for last month's performance. The boyish Napa Valley right fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Torres hit .310 with 3 home runs, 11 RBIs and 13 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

So far this year Torres has 11 home runs and a .270 batting average.

Torres Fashions Shutout Against Winged Lingerines
Thursday, August 8th, 2137: Sometimes even Ignacio Torres of Los Angeles isn't sure which pitcher will show up when he takes the mound.

"I've been good sometimes and bad sometimes," he said. This time he looked good and made the Ann Arbor Winged Lingerines look bad, blanking them by the score of 5-0.

Torres tossed a 2-hit shutout against them, totaling 5 strikeouts and giving up 1 walk.

This season Torres has fanned 77 in 157 innings and collected a 7-5 record with a 2.75 ERA.
