so do we all villagers agree that we'd rather see tyrith lynched than blade? i'm going to be around pretty much the whole time until deadline, so i'll keep an eye on things, and my outstanding vote (which is on sndvls right now) will have to be factored in...the wolves would really have to expose themselves in order to change the lynch now.

then again, does the fact that both blade+tyrith have a lot of votes indicate that the wolves would be happy to see either of them lynched because they're both good???

Another day brings another morning, another breakfast, another trip to school, and most importantly, another chance to actually fight the Blakekin. You each put off your task today as long as possible. Seconds turn to minutes turn to hours.

Soon, the day is gone, and the kids are exiting the school. The six of you gather again in the boiler room downstairs and wait while first students, then teachers, and finally staff vacate the building, leaving only you, the maintenance crew and the show choir staying late for rehearsals in the school. Mr. French is preparing them to perform a 1957 revue for the school to celebrate it’s 50th anniversary with music and dance from the year in which it opened.

But there’s no celebrating in the boiler room. You know the stakes. Its time to cast lots again and select another of your number to go into the purging flames.

After the votes have been cast, Hohiro Kasuri and Jennifer Grawley are neck and neck. Another tie! Someone pulls out the same quarter used several days ago and flips it.

Jennifer is chosen to enter the boiler. Maybe there is something about the poor kid to cause you to suspect her. She certainly is different. She takes a deep breath, and bravely walks towards the flame. She ducks down and climbs in, with nary a scream, just a singe and a sizzle.

You agree that she hardly seemed like a Blakekin there at the end, where she volunteered to enter the flames. That means the Blakekin are still out there.

Half of your number are gone, and you have nothing to show for your efforts.

I fully expect to be killed tonight, because at this point the bodyguard ought to be watching their own neck instead of sticking it out for someone who's goodness they're not 100% convinced of, and since you and tyrith have both voiced doubts about me, if it's either of you I'm a goner. and I realize that makes no sense to say if you or tyrith is the bodyguard i'm a goner and then accuse you two of being the wolves.

frankly I think we've hit it on the head and you two are the wolves. But on the off chance that one of you isn't and is the bodyguard and one of the ntn/sndvls pair is the wolf, I don't expect to be saved by either you or tyrith. And I don't think ntn or sndvls feel strongly enough about me to save me.

On your way home that night, after leaving the school late, you decide to walk home. In some way, you don’t trust anyone else except those in the group, and in other ways, you don’t trust anyone in the group either. Sometimes, not even yourselves.

You walk past a shop front. As you look into the window, you wonder – are those eyes staring back your own, or do you catch a glint of Blake McKenzie?

As you stare into the glass, intent on investigating every corner of your reflection, you hear a scream and a screech of wheels. You spin around and witness Hohiro Katsuri get smashed by an SUV.

What was he doing out in the road? This can’t be the doing of the Blakekin, right? After all, this is not their style. They toss you in boilers, not in front of cars. Was Hohiro a Blakekin? Was someone looking out for you tonight?

You four remaining students decide to leave the scene. Hohiro is obviously dead. Police sirens can be heard and you steal into a park in order to avoid the eyes of the law.

You turn around to glimpse the accident scene from a significant distance. The cars seem smaller than ants – more like gnats caught on a strip of flypaper that is painted like a road. You smile as you think that. That’s a very clever turn of phrase.

You turn your head back to the group to share your interesting phrase when you are startled to see the grimace of a Scotsman coming from the faces of Juan and Jamie.

Just a few seconds later, you die. You can’t remember how, but you know that you are distinctly dead now. In fact, if you are dead, then you can’t read this, can you? So, why is it that you are still
