Hmmm, the patch didn't install right as after I got it in there It says elicense.dll file was missing. Do I need to install the patch a different way?

Spoke too soon on the patch. It wants an elicense dll file, so I'll have to see when StrategyFirst.com gets the latest patch. Sorry about the mis-information.

I imagine it has something to do with this (as posted by Alan T in the OOTP thread):

As of late last night, it didn't contain much information beyond what was posted here, mostly a handful of disgruntled posters who seemed to feel screwed over by a sale price lower than what they got by pre-ordering.

I own Civ 3, Civ 4 base (no expansions) and Freedom Force. Wonder if it would be worth it still.

Would any of these work on a netbook? I only have 1024x600 resolution. Puresim does not, FOF will not (both because of screen resolution), TCY will, but I feel all played out on TCY. I am looking for a good text-sim that I can take with me. Yes, I could download the demos, but I am being lazy and want people to hand me the answers on a silver platter

I completely remember this game from back in the day... and distinctly recall my frustration that my 286 simply could not run this.

I loved that game, and I think I still have the 5 CDs. This and Phantasmagoria were the first movie/story games I remember playing and I couldn't get enough of them.

Heavy duty deal for PS3 owners. Many of the very good games are under $20 and some are priced at $11. Tough part right now is getting into the server. It's getting hammered.

PS3 Games: The Orange Box $11, Fallout 3 $33, Metal Gear Solid IV $16, Street Fighter IV $32, Burnout Paradise $11, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune $32, and more - Slickdeals.net

Burnout Paradise for $11 is such a fantastic deal that any PS3 owner who doesn't purchase it should be sentenced to a lifetime of Atari Jaguar gaming and nothing else.

Well, it's actually a great site under most circumstances, but when you put a deal like that out there, it's bound to hammer your speed. I noticed the site is down temporarily. Hopefully that's not the end of the deals.

Looks like the Sony Style store may be all sold out. Tried to go to the website to look for the games on sale and it just redirects back to the main page. I'm guessing that's a "we're all sold out" hint.

I had issues like that when I ordered yesterday. If you keep trying the links, they work. it took me about 15 minutes to add the 3 games into the shopping cart and check out.

Nice, you'll love it (if you've never played it before)

I just went DS crazy yesterday getting retro game challenge, two castlevania games, puzzle quest galactrix and fire emblem the shadow dragon. All used, so if I don't like it in 7 days, back for a full refund. I suspect I am really going to like the retro game challenge though and the two castlevania's.

OOTP has always been better in theory rather than practice for me. I've got 7 and 9 as well. In your opinion what is different with X?

I'm quite well versed in CT- best RPG ever, for my money (tho FF4 is still my favorite). I was just waiting for it to drop to play it again, tho. And, you know, I never played Crono Cross so maybe after I beat that, I could dig out the PSX or just play it on the PS2.

I'm curious how PQ: Galactrix is. I played the first up to about level 40 and beat the game, tho I was getting bored at the end.

SI

I really liked Retro Game Challenge, the games themselves were good (the Haggle Man series my favorite probably) plus the in-game magazines previews and cheat codes, the conversations with the other kid before/after gaming sessions, as a whole RGC has a lot charm.

I want the sequel (which has a lot more games and moves into the 16-bit era!) to be localized but this is unlikely after the sales of the first game.

Just got this email from Sony:
Quote:
Dear Valued Sony Customers,

We regret to inform you that any video game which was part of your order SW09071201583 that has not yet shipped has been cancelled. If you have previously received an email with a tracking number, the items associated with shipping confirmation have not been effected.

Your order had to be cancelled due to an overwhelming number of orders placed during a severe pricing error that occurred on our site. We have done everything possible to fulfill every order but we have exhausted all inventory.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused but, we do not anticipating any further inventory in the near future. Additionally, because this was a pricing error, we are unable to offer other products at a discount.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding,
I don't think they charged my card and the items haven't shipped, so it looks like no dice on this deal. No biggie, but anyone who tried to sneak in on this deal will probably have it canceled.

Ah, stinker. That's the price of chasing good deals online. I've had a couple of cheapies canceled after ordering them from Amazon.

Yea, I'm really have a great time with it. There's a sequel?

SI - as for Galactrix the idiots at Gamestop put the first Puzzle Quest in the box and I didn't realize it until Sunday, so I just ended up returning it today with Fire Emblem. I don't have the patience anymore for a game like Fire Emblem and I just can't find myself playing a game with the stylus. The first puzzle quest demanded it so I assume the second one did as well.

Next game - I want to check out is The World Ends With You, but apparently its hard to find around these neck of the woods.

I am having a fun time with the newest Castlevania.

I did pick up Elder Scrolls Oblivion (game of the year version) for $25 new at Gamestop after I went to a wedding on Saturday and they were ranting and raving about it for about 2 hours.

Yeah, the sequel came out in Japan a few months ago. It looks like it might not ever be translated into English

Best bang for the buck I've ever gotten for a game in my life (same deal several months back) -- console, tabletop, pc, casino, or otherwise -- for what I got from that price nothing else has ever come close.

Really. Wow. I gotta start reading about this game.

About Retro Game Challenge, it got such great reviews, I couldn't find it used at 4 local Gamestops. I would have thought the game had sold well.

There's a texture upgrade mod that, if your PC can handle it, greatly enhances the graphics. After you play for a while you can experiment with some of the other mods out there. It really is a great game.
