An engine that could handle the diversity of college football is very important. And not just on offense. There are multiple types of defense as well.

Surprised with how quiet things are, especially on their forum.

This was posted by the developer today....

"We're doing some alpha testing now... Hopefully we're about a month out, but if we decide it's not compelling enough we will add more features and push it farther out. I fully expect it to launch within this college football season though."

Things are going well in testing so with the start of the college football season thought I would share a quick update about the ability to no longer just watch games as a replay but to coach them out play by play.

I love OOTP's 2d display and it sounds like the 2d display for your NFL game has been improved for the college game. Day 1 purchase for me. Being able to visually see my players is something that just makes me happy.

This was my number one must do with this game on my wish list for Brooks - being able to call the plays and the additional items that are being shown and being able to show the entire field makes it very different and a vastly improved experience.

After watching real college games kick off yesterday, always gets the blood flowing for playing a PC college football game...hopefully does not come out too late in the season where some of that excitement dies. This would be a great candidate for a "Early Access" game With this kind of improvement, gives me hope that maybe other areas have improved as well.

I don't know why the 2D wouldn't work - we will have a free demo of course to try it and if you want to know you could always download the demo of DDS:PF 2016 as that had a 2D replay engine which was the basis for what Brooks built onto for DDS:CF 2017. If that works I see no reason why it won't work for you in the college game.

We're really pushing to get it finished up - with it being a new game we're finding little things here and there to shore up and also coming across small things we want to add to enhance the experience. Believe me, I want to release it as soon as possible (especially since I'm personally loving this college football season - GO BLUE)

Huge bump - just in time for Thanksgiving week. DDS:CF 2017 will be available on November 20th.

Don't waste your time arguing with relatives over politics or family squabbles. Don't stand in line for black friday stampedes. Just grab a huge plate of food and hide in your home office and spend your vacation with DDS:CF 2017 (and don't forget DDS:Pro Basketball 2017 too!)

I also want to share quickly just how much fun I have playing games out in 2D. The ability to actually coach the game takes Brooks' work to a whole new level. I don't remember how many of you played XOR NFL Challenge back in the day but I totally get that feeling watching the icons move around on the field and just hoping that the icon with the ball doesn't stop moving with all the defender icons closing in

Holy crap, that's a blast from the past!! Loved that game, still one of my favs. If game plays like XOR with a career mode I will be more than happy.

Not as of right now - I'm still waiting on them giving the approval to my release build of DDSPB17 even. Once we get one up and running there then we will see about other new games. Ideally I would like all of our new games there but until I know for sure we can get it there then I have to say no.

Surprised, but it's awesome it will be released so soon. There's very little information about the game on your website.

I'm working on the full landing page for the game - we'll have screenshots, game info and of course a playable demo in the coming days.

I haven't bought a Sports Sim on the first week of release since before my oldest kiddo who's six now. This just might get the nod from me... I'll have to convince the other half. Ah, what she doesn't know won't hurt her.

Well the biggest improvement is that its not a replay anymore - you get to go play by play, get to see the entire field at once and there are additions like displaying incomplete passes. The best feature of the 2D is how much fun it is to see the game unfold in action instead of text. You'll be yelling GO GO GO when your back emerges from the pile of icons trying to take him down!

That's great! Is it more fluid?

That I can't answer because I didn't think it really wasn't fluid before so I guess you'll have to be the judge yourself

Nice looking screens. I will be checking it out at some point, though admittedly with the next FOF coming out right now as well I think that one takes the priority for me at the moment. I will be following, though.
