LSU had a chance for a final drive and their special teams blew it.

Them having a chance illustrates how weak FSU is.

It's possible that LSU has THE worst OL in the entire SEC. I'm not sure that Vandy doesn't have a better OL.

This could very well be a 3-9 LSU team. Unless they make significant changes, I'm not sure next week vs Southern is a gimme.

I guess Kelly brought some of the "luck of the Irish" down with him. Now for the extra point and OT.

EDIT: well frak it, special teams failure again

That's probably the most painful ending for B Kelly, so I'm all for it.

LSU should beat Southern and New Mexico. UAB late in the year maybe.

That might be all they get. Having Miss State at home gives them a chance for 4 wins, but they either gotta win that one or go to Auburn and win to get to 4.

I don't care if that is a 3 win LSU team. For 6, 7 years, it's been 1 step forward, throw yourself down the stairs. Last night, it was 3 steps forward, 2 steps back. I'll take it. We beat an SEC team on the road that isn't Vanderbilt.

LOL at Brian Kelly

Taking a few steps back in looking at the whole college football picture:

The thing that college football has always had over every other sport is that it has the best arguments. Everything from mythical national championships, to the passion people have for their teams, to the fact that many years the two obvious best teams in the country never played each other, college football has always been the place for serious passionate arguments.

And now we have gotten a little meta with the arguments over The changes to the game itself. But what I just realized this morning, is that these arguments are going to be awesome over the coming decades because no one is really going to be able to know anything.

We have four super serious major changes to the sport that are all happening at roughly the same time. The transfer portal. NIL deals. The SEC & Big Ten becoming mega ultra conferences and leaving everyone else behind. And a 12 team playoff. College football is going to change enormously. Some changes for the better, some changes for the worse, and some changes that are just going to be weird. And none of us are going to be able to agree on what causes lead to what effects.

That is the most college football thing of all.

I agree with you. LSU's last drive the length of the field was pretty impressive (special teams notwithstanding). Offensive line needs work also.

I'm starting to think Dabo shouldn't have promoted internally on offense.

I bet Clemson team total over 37.5 points. No idea how it got there. The blocked punt was key.

Classy of ol' Dabo to pad the score down the stretch.

He's exposed as a fraud more and more.

I can forgive him. He had a young QB he wanted to get some real game reps. Zero issues. Like Bobby Bowden said, it isn't his job to stop his offense.

The spread was also Clemson -24. Dabo knew that and wanted to cover for the boosters.

I keep seeing all this bright siding of the game from a GT perspective. I don’t see it. We lost by 31 to a team that played like crap for 3 quarters, had 10 penalties, terrible special teams, and our clown coach somehow both didn’t use his time outs in the first half in an attempt to get a score before the half and also used all his 2nd half time outs with 13 minutes to go in the 4th quarter.

As a reminder, we only lost 14-8 to them last year and they had to stop us on 4th and goal from the 2 to win.

It's a clown show.

It's actually possible that somehow the used car salesman has assembled a roster worse than the one he inherited. That's mind boggling, but that's where it seems to be.

Eh, I am pretty sure that Jon was saying similar things when Bobby Bowden did it as well. I don't have any issues with it either. There are only 4 slots in the playoffs and the selectors clearly look at margin of victory as a part of the selection criteria.

FWIW Bowden did once send a letter of apology to the Duke head coach who had accursed him of running up the score back in the day.

I was speaking of his Saint Dabo persona as much or more than his alleged ability to coach ... which seems to have vanished along with his coordinators.

And I say fuck Dabo for being a classless prick that likes to pretend he's anything else. It's the pretending that makes last night more egregious.

Just drop the act, admit that "hey, I'm just a self-centered motherfucker like 90% of this business, I don't give a damn about anything else when my nuts are over a fire", I would barely have a said a word after the game.

Tomayto tomahto.

The only thing more amazing than that stat is how long it took my brain to decipher the 7-17,456-4 line. I just can’t read that without thinking it’s two separate W/L records of 7/17 and 456/4.

I'm hoping Texas plays well and gives Alabama a scare in their home game. But somehow, I'm thinking it'll be the opposite.

Texas will (supposedly) join the SEC in 2025 season. I can't imagine it's the lack of talent. So their Sark better step up.

Iowa will need to score 4 safeties to cover the 3.5 spread.

You guys make fun of me for hating on Ferentz. I bet 3 of those 6 wins happened in the last 23 years.

FWIW, I don't make fun of you for hating on Ferentz. It's not all that original to hate on your team's coach, that's a long-standing sports fan tradition that many take to excess.

I make fun of you more for thinking Iowa is playoff material and a shoo-in to win their division one week, and thinking they'll be lucky to win half their games the next, or things to that effect.

Guilty. I grew up watching ineoptitude football. 70s Iowa football sucked.
Then Hayden Fry appeared. So good.

Ferentz is a super character guy that the fat cats love. He names a price and they pay.

I guess I'm also curious how Iowa has never lost a game with less than 170 yards of offense. Can totally believe the 6-X-4 part, but they've literally never lost a game while struggling on offense?

138 yards vs. Wisconsin in 1998. I just looked for games where they scored 3 or less.
