SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE YEAR
K Stephen Meadows
Meadows was an effective weapon for the 13-3 Recalcitrants in 2008. He didn't merely lead the league in several kicking categories, but his 38 FGs and 158 points were league records. To date, he has been the WOOF's most prolific long-distance kicker, going 21 for 37 from beyond the 50.

OFFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
RB Julio Stagg
The dearth of candidates for this award would be clear from the time of the draft: no offensive player went until the 10th pick; the first offensive skill position player went at pick #15; no RB went in the first round. The voters considered Stagg, the 21st pick of the 2nd round, to be the best candidate in a weaker field this year, though. He did lead the 10-6 Sharpshins in rushing this year, providing them with a decent change of pace in their predominantly passing attack.

DEFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
CB Steven Weaver
Weaver was scary-good as a rookie this year. Opposing quarterbacks learned not to challenge the #3 overall pick, and when they did throw in his directions, the results were not good. With Weaver taking away half of the field, it's no surprise that the 7-9 Shivs had the #1 passing defense in the league in 2008.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Marrero had a season for the ages for the 10-6 Gators. In addition to leading the league in the eleven passing categories bolded above, Marrero set league records in the following categories this year:Morris Marrero

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Daniel Myers
Myers was one of few bright spots for the 6-10 Cheetahs in 2008. His dominant pass rushing played a major role in Columbus allowing the lowest third down conversion percentage of any team in the league: 29.1. The all-time WOOF sack leader, he set a single-season record for sacks this year.

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER
Ben Krueger, PAL
The Krueger-led Whirlwind became the first team in league history to win 15 games in the regular season. Most impressive about Krueger was the fact that the Whirlwind had a running game that was relatively ineffective for most of the season. The opposition knew that the Whirlwind were going to have to throw to win, yet they were unable to stop the passing attack with any real consistency.

GM OF THE YEAR
Anthony "Antmeister" Marks Antmeister's aggressive moves in free agency and shrewd drafting played a major role in the change of direction for the Oceanside franchise. After finishing 2-13-1 in 2007, Antmeister went to work in the offseason, acquiring 9 new players who would start for a significant portion of the season. The most important of those signings was him going out and being willing to risk a multiyear salary and bonus on aging veteran QB Oscar Bruce, who ended up throwing for 3,653 yards and 26 TDs to lead the Sandsharks from the cellar to the playoffs.

Here's the vote count. Like I said, some of these were quite close. If the league would be up for a 1st/2nd/3rd vote for every award with a 3/2/1 points system, I'd be willing to do it that way in the future.
