BBT's try at poker

I've been reading this forum for two years and haven't posted before now, but Honolulu Blue's WSOP dynasty got me interested and I'd figure I'd give it a go. So I got the game and started playing it. I feel that I'm now ready to start a dynasty to see how far I go.

Like RPI though, if HB or RPI doesn't like this dynasty posted here, I'll stop immediately.

A little about me: I love sports and all kind of simulations. I've been reading this forum for almost two years now and have bought a ton of games based mainly on the dynasty reports that people post here. Just never really been a forum guy as I'm usually busy with family, work, or sleep.

As far as poker goes, my strength or what I usually favor is a bluffing, aggressive style. I like to be involved in most hands unless its completely out of reach. My weakness is that sometimes I like to stay in a hand way too long when I'm bluffing.

This dynasty will pretty much go along the lines of the other two since that seems to be a good formula.

By the way, thank you for this forum everone. You guys are all creative in your own way which makes for some interesting reading. I only hope that this dynasty can live up to some of those.

I arrive in Las Vegas on Trans Atlantic air and take the complementary limo to Binions. After registering, I head immediately to the Satellite table with my $5000. I hate wasting time.

Sitting in the middle of the table, I say hello to all my competitors, each one looking for a spot in the prestigious World Series of Poker. I'm confident that I can take these players.

(Note: I'll note the big pot hands and the hands when players go out, just like the other two dynasties).

Hand 1: I fold on a 9s,3c. Large blind takes it after all hands fold.

Hand 4: I bluff my way to a $1350 pot with Js,10c. First hand that I was able to play. Currently sit at $3350 which leads the table. My neighbor on the left is second with $2225 and the only other player over $2000. (Speaking of which, there are 8 other players at the table and I'll begin calling them by player number.)

Hand 10: As,7h. I call $150 with Players 2 and 7 in. After flop (A,2,2) I call $225. Next card was a 4. I bet $375 after check by player 2. Both players fold and I'm sitting at $4125.

Hand 11: Blinds raised to $50/$100. Player 1 and Player 6 go at it in a $3300 pot. Player 6 goes all in with trip 3's. Problem is Player 1 had trip 5's. Player 6 goes home. Player 1 moves into 2nd behind me with $3825. 7 players left other than myself.

Hand 14: Player 2 and Player 7 go at it in a $1500 pot. Pair of Jacks come up after the fourth card and both stay in. Player 2 wins when it turns out he has two pair of Kings and Jacks while Player 8 doesn't have anything. Player 2 moves into 3rd with $3125 while Player 7 sits at $900, lowest at the table.

Hand 15: Player 7 goes all in after deal and gets everyone to fold, he's up to $1300.

Hand 16: Player 4 and Player 8 battle over a $1500 pot. After fourth card, Player 4 goes all in. Player 8 folds. Player 4 sits at $2100 and fourth place, while player 8 drops to $1100 (lowest at the table). Update on my status: I've gotten a lot of poor hands and have folded every hand since Hand 10. Still have $3975 and lead the table by $250 over Player 1.

Hand 17: I get a pair of 2's and call. Player 8 calls and Player 2 check's (big blind). Flop comes up and I don't get anything. Player 2 checks, and I raise $175. Both players fold and I'm up to $4225.

Hand 20: I'm big blind and get Kc,4d. Player 8 calls, Player 1 raises $200. I call. Jc,Qh,Ks comes up and Player 1 raises $450. I stay, Player 8 folds. 6d is next and I call $1050. I'm getting stupid I know, but I can't stop myself. 9s is last card and Player 1 goes all in. I join him with all but $500. He's got 9h,10h for a King high straight. I've got a pair of Kings. Player 1 moves into the lead with $7800, I'm low man now with $500.

Hand 21: New dealer. Player 1 gets everyone to fold after raising $200 and now sits at $7950. I had 3d,4d.

Hand 22: Blinds go up to $100/$200. Player 6 takes hand and moves to $1600 after flop.

Hand 23: I get Kc,Jd. Player 3 calls. I call. Player 8 checks. Flop is 4d,kd,5c. Player 8 goes all in ($500), Player 3 calls, and I go all in ($250). 4th is 7h, 5th is 10h. Players 3 and 8 go first and 8 wins with K's and 4's over 4's to get his $500 back. I beat 8 with K's and 4's-J to his K's and 4's-10 to win $1450 and move back into 6th place.

Hand 25: Players 1,2, and 4 go at it after 4 raises $600. Flop is 9c,8c,Kh. Player 2 goes all in ($1550). Player 4 goes all in ($1050). Player 1 calls. Next 2 are Qh, 2d. Player 1 and 2 go first and both have 9's, 8's, K to split. Player 4 joins in with a pair of Kings and is sent packing. 2 players down. Player 1 now has $8800. Player 2 sits in second with $3525.

Table standings:

Player 1: $8800
Player 2: $3525
Player 7: $2000
Player 5: $1575
Myself: $1250
Player 3: $450
Player 8: $400
Player 4: out
Player 6: out

I'm taking a break for now.

Talking Hand 26+

Well after 25 hands, I'm sitting in 5th place out of 7 with two players long gone. One stupid hand has pretty much done me in (by stupid, I mean, I played it stupid). However, I've still got a chance if I can get some decent cards.

Hand 26: I get Jh, 4h and call. Player 2 calls and Player 3 gives the go ahead. Flop is 5s, 7h, 5h. I need one card for a flush. Player 3 goes all in ($250). I call and Player 2 calls. next two are 8c, 7d with both of us checking. Player 2 and I go first with 2 having Ah, 6h. I lose to his Ace. Next up, Player 3 has 9h, 6h. He's sent packing. Player 2 sits at $4475. I'm at $750 which is second lowest at the table.

Hand 28: I'm small blind and draw pair of 8's. Player 2 raises $600 and I go all-in. Flop comes up 3h, 8d, 3c, FULL HOUSE!!! Next two are 10d, Ad. Player 2 has a two pair A's and 3's. I now have $1300 which pulls me close to 5th (player 5 - $1375).

Hand 29: Player 8 gets antsy and goes all in after deal. Everyone folds. Player 8 now has $700.

Hand 30: Players 1, 2, myself, and 7 all call. Player 8 (big blind) goes all in geting me to fold with my Ks, 3h. Flop comes up 10s, Kc, Qd. Player 1 raises $1100 to get Player 2 and 7 to drop off. Next two are 4s, 2h. Player 8 has pair of Q's which gives him 3Q. However Player 1 has been sitting on a straight since the flop. Player 8 says his goodbyes. Player 1 now sits at $11300, the bastard.

Hand 31: I need a change of luck and go with a new deck (Now blue instead of red). Of course I end up with 7s, 6c and fold right out the gate. Players 5 and 1 go at it with Player 5 winning a $1200 pot. He now moves to $1875.

Hand 32: I get dealt Kd, 6h and call. Player 2 is big blind and checks. Flop comes up 5s, 8s, 9h and 2 raises $500. I'm getting stupid again and call. Next card is Qh and he raises $400. I call with all my money hoping he's bluffing. He's got Kh, 10c. I'm in trouble. Last card comes up 10d, talk about insult to injury. Goodbye to me.

And that's all she wrote for this segment. I'll take a little break and try to get back into another satellite later.

Try, try again

Well, my break is spent flirting with the receptionist, who's about as hot as an avocado. To really boost my ego, she keeps turning me down saying that I'm a loser. I'll show her.

Which is where I stand when I head back to the satellite tables to try and get a win under my belt. Same rules as before. Everyone starts with $2000 and I'll be highliting the big pots and notable occurances.

Hand 1: Qs, 2h is what I'm dealt. I call along with Player 5. Player 7 raises $100 and we both call again. Flop is 8c, 5c, 8d. I check, Player 5 raises $250, Player 7 folds, and I call. 6d is next and we both check. 2s is last card and I lead with a $500 raise. Player 5 folds quickly and I start off well with $2625 in front of me.

Hand 2: I have Kc, 3h and call along with Players 1 and 2. Player 4 (big blind) gives the go ahead. Flop comes up Ks, 5c, 6d. I lead with a check. Player 1 raises $100 and gets Players 2 and 4 to fold. I raise $325 and get Player 1 to fold. $2900 after two hands, not bad.

Hand 3: I've got big blind and 7c,5c. Everyone folds except Player 1 who raises $100. I'm curious and call. Flop comes up 4h, 3h, 5h. We both check. Fourth card is 6d. BEAUTIFUL!!! I go all-in and get Player 1 to fold. I sit at $3075 and have taken the first three hands.

Hand 4: I get dealt Qh, 6c on the small blind. Player 6 calls and Player 7 raises getting everyone else to fold up to me. Again, I'm curious and call. Player 5 calls and Player 6 folds. Flop is 4h, 2c, 2d. I check. Player 5 raises $250 and Player 7 and I call. Fourth card is Kd. I check and so does Player 5. Player 7 raises $650 and chases both of us. He's got $2700 and moves into first by $25. He also gets the early title of bastard.

Hand 5: I've got Qh, 6h. Folds all around until Player 4 who raises $100. I call while the rest fold. Flop is 4d, Kh, Qs and I get raised $175. I'm worried about the king and call. Ah is up next and I get raised $350. Again I'm curious and call. 9s is the last card and Player 4 checks. I decide to go all-in thinking he'll fold. I'm wrong, however, and he goes all-in as well. Luckily I get $750 back because he's got a pair of A's which beats my Q's. Player 4 now sits in 1st at $3925 while I move into last with $750.

Hand 6: I'm looking at 5s, 2s and everyone folds in front of me. I decide to call. Players 5 and 6 fold leaving just Player 7 and myself and he gives the go ahead. Flop comes up Kc, Js, Ah. We both check. Fourth card is Kh and he raises $50. I call him a "little girl" and go all in which gets him to fold. I sit at $875.

Hand 7: I'm looking at a pair of 3's. Player 1 starts off by calling and I do the same. Player 7 also calls and Player 8 gives the go ahead. Flop is 2d, 4s, 9d. Player 7 raises $100 chasing 8 and 1. I call. 6c comes up for the fourth card and Player 7 checks. I start laughing and go all-in again. And then the funniest thing happens, Player 7 falls out of his chair and begins to laugh harder as he calls and turns over his cards.: 9c, Qd. God I feel like a rookie. 4d comes up last and I'm sent packing quickly.

Wow, that was embarassing. I'm going to go to my room and cry for a little bit. As I walk by the receptionist, I overhear her whispering "Look at that loser, doesn't he look like an eggplant."

No objections here. It's always good to have another WSOP dynasty on the board.

Sorry the first satellite didn't go so well for you. I wish better luck for you in the future.

P.S. Don't you hate it when you get a big hand and can only get a few hundred out of it?

Appreciate it

Honolulu Blue: I really appreciate it. This is a pretty fun game and I have to thank you for getting me interested in it. When I first started playing, I was able to win the satellites easily and get to the WSOP, but lately, I've hit a real bad streak and can't even get far in the satellites. And yes, when everyone folds because you look at them funny and you're sitting there with a good hand drives me nuts.

3rd time a charm?

I spend the next couple of hours in my room, wondering what the hell happened. I've still got $2750 in my pocket which means I've got a couple more chances before things start getting dicey. I take a shower and feel refreshed. I'm ready to do this.

I enter the casino again and ignore the chuckles aimed in my direction. I'm on a mission and head straight back to the satellite table and cash in.

Hand 1: Qs, 3c to start off with. I call. Player 6 raises $100 getting everyone else to fold. I call again. Flop is Kh, 10d, 9d. I check and he raises $175. I feel lucky and call again. 4th card is a 7h. I check again and he raises $350. I fold and the doubts start creeping in. Not good. Player 6 is at $2400 while I drop to $1675.

Hand 2: I've got a pair of 5's and lead off by calling. Player 5 also calls. Everyone else folds. Player 4 gives the go ahead and the flop comes up 2s, Kc, 3c. Player 4 raises $75 and I call. Player 5 raises $150 chasing Player 4. I call again. Fourth card is a 7d. I check. Player 5 raises $700 and I'm out again. Player 5 now moves into the lead with $2425 and I drop to $1400.

Hand 3: I've got the big blind and get a Ac, Ks. Player 3 is the only one interested and raises $100. I call. Flop brings 7s, Jh, 3s. I bet $75 and Player 3 folds. I'm up to $1575. That helps the old ego.

Hand 4: I'm the small blind and have Ac, 7s. Player 8 calls while everyone folds. I raise $50 and Player 5 calls. Player 8 bails. Flop is 6h, 3h, 9d and I raise another $50. Player 5 calls me. Fourth card is a 9s and I bet another $50 and get called again. Last card is a Jh and I bet $50 more. Player 5 finally folds. I sit at $1825 now.

Hand 5: I get dealt As, 7c. Player 1 raises $100 and I call while the rest fold. Flop comes up 6s, 9d, Js and I bet $75. Player 1 bails and I sit at $2050 now which is third at the table.

Hand 8: As, 4d stare back at me to start. Player 2 starts by raising $100 and I call. Everyone else folds. Flop is 3d, 9h, 7d and I bet $50. Player 2 calls. Next card is a 6s and I bet $100. Player 2 answers by calling again. Last card is a 9c and he raises me $325. I've got nothing and fold. Player 2 moves into the lead with $2425 while I drop into last with $1750.

Hand 11: Blinds are raised to $50/$100 and Player 7 asks for a new deck. I have a Kd, 4h to start and lead off by calling. Player 7 calls and Player 2 raises $200. He's got something that I don't have and I bail. Player 7 decides to stick it out. Flop comes up Js, 3c, 7h. Both players check. 9d is next and again both check. Last card is a 6d and they both check again. Player 7 has A-4 while Player 2 has A-K. Good thing I bailed. Player 2 increases his lead and sits at $3150. Player 7 drops below me with $1625.

Hand 12: I've got big blind and a 10d, 7c. Luckily everyone folds and I gain $50.

Hand 13: I've got small blind but fold quickly with 5c, 3d. Player 4 and 8 go at it on a $3000 pot. Player 8 wins and moves into the lead with $3450. Player 4 is hurting at only $275.

Hand 14: I've got Kc, 7h to begin with. Player 1 raises $150 and I call. Everyone else folds leaving just the two of us. Flop comes up 9h, 6s, Kh and Player 1 raises $375. I'm worried, but go ahead and call. 4th card is Ac and he checks. I bluff and go all-in getting him to fold. The win moves me into 3rd with $2475 and drops Player 1 into 8th with $1125.

Hand 15: I've got Jc, 3s and fold quickly when Player 3 raises $200. Everyone else gets out of dodge except for Player 6 who calls. Flop comes up Kc, 8s, 7c. Player 7 raises $375 and Player 3 retaliates by going all-in ($1075). Player 7 calls and has As, Kh. Player 3 sits with a Ks, Qc hand. Next two are Js, 4s and Player 3 is shown the door. Player 6 now leads with $4000.

Hand 16: I start with As, Qs. Player 1 begins by raising $200 and I'm the only one to answer. Flop is 3c, 7s, 2s and Player 1 raises $375. I call again. Next card is a 6c and he checks. I raise $450 and he calls all-in. We turn over and he's got Ac, Qc. With both of us having chances at a flush, all eyes were turned to the last card which turns out be a 9d and results in a split. I've got $2550 now which puts me in 4th. Player 1 sits at $1200 which is good for 7th.

Hand 17: I'm out early with 7d, 4c. Player 6 and Player 8 call with Player 1 giving the go ahead. After the flop, Player 1 checks. Player 6 raises $300, Player 8 raises $600, and Player 1 bails. Player 6 then reraises $1200. Player 8 calls. After the next card, Player 8 checks and Player 6 raises $500. Player 8 folds. Player 6 now sits at $6450 and in first place while Player 8 drops into 7th with $1000.

Hand 18: Player 6 asks for a new deck (back to red). I hold Qc, Js and call along with Players 6 and 8. Player 2 gives the go ahead and the flop comes up 8h, 5h, Jc. Player 2 bets $225 and everyone calls. Next card is a 9s and Player 2 bets $675. I feel he's bluffing and call again. Player 7 gets out while Player 8 calls with all of his money. Last card comes up 8c and Player 2 and I check. Player 2 has a pair of 8's. I've got J's and 8's. However, Player 8 wins the hand with a Full House, 8's over 9's. He moves into 2nd with $3375. Player 2 stays in 3rd with $2150 and I drop to 5th with $1550.

Hand 19: As, Qc stare back at me and I lead by calling. Players 5 and 1 do the same and Player 4 gives the go ahead. Flop is Jc, 10s, 3c and Player 4 checks. I bet $100 and 5 and 1 call. Player 4 then goes all-in ($175) and we all call again. Next card is a 4d and we all check. Same for the last card which is a 7s. Player 5 takes the hand with a pair of Jacks. Player 4 hits the road. Player 5 moves up to 3rd with $2925.

Hand 20: I get the big blind (no small due to player 4 getting booted) and get a Qd, 8c. Player 8 is the only 1 that does anything and calls and I give the go ahead. Flop is 4c, 8d, 8h and I'm trying to figure out how I can milk this. I bet $100 and he calls. Next card is a 7d and I bet $200. He folds of course. I now have $1450 which puts me in 6th.

Hand 21: New dealer, I've got the small blind, and I'm looking at Js, 8d. Everyone folds until Player 2 raises $200. I call and am followed by Player 5. Flop is 2d, 3h, 2h. I check. Player 5 then raises $450 and is called by Player 2. I get the hell out of this hand, or at least I think I do, when I accidentally call. Next card is 4s and I check again. Player 5 does the same, and Player 2 goes all-in ($1150). This time I hit the right button and fold and Player 5 follows. Player 2 moves into 2nd with $3600. I move into last with $700. Damn me.

Hand 23: Blinds are raised to $100/$200. I'm dealt As, 6h and call. Player 5 calls and then Player 7 raises $600. I know its crazy, but I call all-in. Player 5 then goes all-in, chasing Player 7. We turn up our cards (After he gets his refund) and he's got Qs, 9c. Next two cards are 10s, 2c. I win with Ace high and am very relieved. That gets me back up to $2200 and 4th at the table. Player 5 drops below me with $1525.

Hand 24: Player 7 goes all-in ($475) and chases everyone.

Hand 25: I get Kc, 4s to lead off and call. Player 5, who can't do anything on his own I guess, calls with me along with Player 7. Player 1 gives the go ahead and we get Qc, 8h, Ad. Player 1 then goes all-in ($550) which chases me. Player 5 goes all-in and Player 7 drops off. After the refund, they turn over their cards. Player 5 has As, 6d. Player 1 sits with Qs, 7c. Fourth card comes up 3s and Player 5 starts waving goodbye to Player 1. And then karma rears up with a Qd. Player 5 sits back down, stunned. Player 1 wins $2000 tying me for fourth. Player 5 sits in 6th now with $775.

I decide to take a break and walk around the casino and use the restroom. Here's the standings.

Player 6: $6175
Player 2: $3600
Player 8: $2875
Myself: $2000
Player 1: $2000
Player 5: $775
Player 7: $575
Player 4: out
Player 3: out

$2000 and a chance

Back to the tables.

Hand 26: I've got Js, 6h and fold. Player 5 goes all-in and chases the rest. He's now up to $1075.

Hand 27: Big Blind, and I've got a pair of 6's. Player 7 goes all-in ($575) and I figure what the hell, I'll call. He turns up a pair of jacks and I just want to cry. Cards that come up are Qh, 3d, Kh, 3s, 9c. He wins a $1250 pot and moves ahead of Player 5 for last.

Hand 29: I start with Qd, 10h and call. Player 6 is the only one left and he's the big blind. He gives the go ahead and we get Ad, Qh, 6c. He checks and I bet $200. He calls and the next card is a 5s. He bets $450 and I call bringing up an 8c as the last card. He checks, I go all-in, and he folds. I sit at $2275 now which is good for 4th.

Hand 31: I begin with Qs, 10h and call leaving only Player 8 (Big blind). He gives the go ahead and we get 7d, 2c, Jh. We both check which brings us Ac. He bets $250 and I know he's bluffing and call. 7h is last up and he bets $500. I've got nothing and have to fold. He wins $1500 and now has $3425.

Hand 32: I'm looking at Ad, 2h to start and call. Player 6 calls and Player 1 gives the go ahead. 3h, 5s, 4d comes up on the flop, SWEET!!! I bet $200 and Player 6 raises $400. Player 1 drops off. I call which bring up a 4h. I bet $475 which chases Player 6. I'm now up to $2925 which keeps me in 4th. Player 6 is still in the lead with $4125.

Hand 33: Qh, Jd lead me off and I call. Players 6 and 8 also call and Player 2 gives the go ahead. The flop is 8s, 5d, Qd. Player 2 checks. I bet $300 and watch them fold. I move into 2nd, $300 behind Player 6 for 1st.

Hand 34: Big Blind and a Qs, 9s to start off with. Players 6 and 1 call and I give the go ahead. Flop is Jc, Jd, 3s. Player 6 and I check while Player 1 raises $350. I call while Player 6 drops out. Fourth card is a 3h. We both check bringing up the last card which is As. We both check again and split the pot (he had Qd, 10h). The win moves me into 1st, with $3775, ahead of Player 6 who dropped to $3725.

Hand 35: Blinds jump to $200/$400 and I've got the Small with an 8s, 5h. Everyone folds and I hate just giving up hands so I call. Player 5 gives the go ahead and 2d, 2c, Jc are turned up. I check and he goes all in ($375). I've got nothing so I fold.

Hand 37: I've got Ah, Kh to begin with and Raise $400. Everyone jumps ship and I move up to $3975.

Hand 38: Player 5 raises all-in right away and everyone folds. He's got $1575 now.

Hand 39: I go out early with Qd, 3c. Player 8 calls and Player 1 gives the go ahead. Flop comes up 7d, 5c, 7c. Player 8 raises $400 and Player 1 calls. Next card is 10c and Player 8 bets $675. Player 1 goes all-in and Player 8 calls. Player 1 turns his over and has Ah, 10d. Player 8's got Ks, 7s. Ouch, goodbye Player 1. Last card doesn't matter and is a Jd. Player 1 starts bawling at the table and has to be removed by security. Player 8 now moves into 1st with $4475.

Hand 40: Player 7 goes all-in after the deal and everyone splits. He's up to $1350 now.

Hand 41: New dealer and I've got a Qc, 2h with the big blind. Player 7 goes all-in again and I decide to call. He turns up Ac, Js. Cards that come up are Kc, 5s, 7c, 5c, 10c. He gets the Ace high flush over my King high flush and win $2900 and moving him into 3rd. I drop to 5th with $2625.

Hand 43: I've got Ah, Jd to start and call. Player 6 gives the go ahead after everyone else folds. Flop is Qh, 8h, 2s. He checks, I bet $400 and he calls. Next card is 8c. He checks, I bet $600 and he's out. I'm up to $3425 and back into 2nd place.

Hand 45: Ah, 7c stare back at me to begin and I call. Player 8 gives the go ahead after everyone else folds. Flop is Ad, Qd, 4h. I bet $400, he folds. I'm now $50 behind Player 8 for 1st.

Hand 46: Jc, 10c is what I begin with. I start off by calling and Players 6 and 8 do the same. Player 2 gives the go ahead and the flop comes up 9d, 5c, Kc. Player 8 bets $800 and the rest of us call. 5d is up next and Player 2 bets all-in ($2100). I'm done as well as are the other two. Player 2 takes $6900 and moves into 1st. I drop to 4th with $2825.

Hand 47: I'm big blind and start with Qh, 3d. Player 2 calls and I raise him $400 which he calls. Flop comes up As, Kd, 9c and he bets $800. I've got nothing and fold. He wins $2400 more and now has $7700.

Hand 48: Blinds jump to $400/$800 and I've got small blind with 6d, 5d. Great. Everyone folds, so I call and Player 5 gives the go ahead. Flop comes up 10s, Qs, Qh. We both check which brings up Ah. I bluff and go all in and he folds. I'm up to $2625.

After Hand 50, I take another break and try to pump myself up. I've got a feeling this could go on quite awhile.

Standing after Hand 50:

Player 2: $8600
Player 7: $3200
Player 8: $2875
Myself: $2625
Player 6: $625
Player 5: $75
Player 1: out
Player 4: out
Player 3: out

Hand 50+

Thanks RPI.

Back to the tables after a long break. I was getting a little tired and decided to take a nap. Luckily the dealer had called a break for a couple of hours. Got two hours of rest and came down and had some complimentary breakfast and headed back to the table right when the dealer got there. Everyone else arrived and we started again.

Hand 51: I'm dealt Ah, Jd and call. Player 6 goes all in and I call. Cards get turned over and he's got Jh, 9d. Things are looking good. Cards come up as 10c, Ad, 7h, As, 10s. My full house A's over 10's beats his two pair and Player 6 is gone. He mutters something about just giving me the money instead of wasting his time on one hand. 5 Players are left and I now sit with $4150 which is second at the table.

Hand 52: I lead with a pair of 4's and call. Player 2 gives the go ahead after all the others fold. Flop comes up 3c, 6s, 6h. He raises $750 and I call. Next card is 8s and he checks. I bet $1500 and he folds. I'm up to $5800 now.

Hand 52: I've got big blind and 9d,2c. Player 5 throws his $75 in. Players 8 and 2 call. I give the go ahead. Fop is 8h, 7c, 3c. The 3 remaining bettors check. Next card is 5d and Player 2 raises $925. I've got nothing and fold. Player 8 then goes all in and Player 2 calls. Last card is 8c. Player 8 has Ks, 9s. Player 2 has Kc, 6c. Player 8 wins $4325 off that battle. Player 5 has a pair of Aces and wins $300 to stay in the game. Too bad he's big blind next game.

Hand 53: Player 5 has to go all in because he's big blind. I'm small blind and get Qd, 4s. Other 3 fold so I just check. He's got As, 2h. Cards come up 5c, 4c, 10d, 6c, 8s. I beat him with a pair of 4's. He just shakes his head and leaves the table. Down to 4 and I'm now in first with $5500.

Hand 55: I start with As, Kd and call. Player 8 gives the go ahead and Ad, 2d, 3h comes up. I bet $750 and Player 8 folds quickly. I'm up to $6400.

Hand 56: Players 2 and 8 go at it and get the pot up to $4800. Player 8 wins it and moves into 2nd with $6125. Player 2 drops to 3rd with $2875.

Hand 57: I'm big blind and get 6d, 2s. Player 7 goes all-in ($2600) and we all fold. He's up to third now and $3500.

Hand 60: New dealer steps in and I get a pair of 10's. I raise $600 and everyone folds. I'm back to $6400 and 1st again.

Hand 62: Blinds jump to $500/$1000. I'm small blind and get Jh, 2s. Player 2 goes all in ($1675). I've got a good feeling and call. Player 7 folds. His cards turn out to be Ad, Qd. Cards come up 2c, Ac, 5h, 10s, 9h. He wins with pair of aces. Player 2 now has $4350 and passes me up for second place. I've got $4125.

Hand 63: I get Ks, 8h and call. Player 7 goes all-in ($2000) and I think he's bluffing so I call. He turns over and has 5h, 3h. Cards come up 3c, 10d, 2d, 4s, 5c. I've got no luck sometimes. Player 7 wins a $6000 pot and moves into second. I fall to last with $1625.

Hand 64: I lead with Qc, 10c and call. Player 7 raises $2000 and I say to hell with it and go all in. He turns over and has Js, 9s. Cards come up 6d, Jc, 7c, 8d, 3d. Son of a ..... I'm out again. I just glare at Player 7 who just grins at me.

Well, crap, I'm out again. I've got enough money for 1 more satellite and then I'm either playing some of the other games or pawning stuff off. I decide to sit back down at another table right away.

You just got to keep plugging away until you get it right.

Ok, 3 tables=3 losses. My ego has taken a huge blow and the casino is beginning to wonder why they brought me out here when I can't even win a simple satellite. On my way to my next table, I meet two guys named Guido and Dan. They happen to be brothers and look like they can start for the Oakland Raiders on their offensive line. Dan doesn't talk much, but Guido says plenty. He tells me that if I lose one more time, I better start making plans to pay the casino back or else. He stresses the else by having Dan pull out a lead pipe which he then proceeds to bend over his head. I quickly run away to the next table. Nothing like a little pressure.

I get to the table and cash in for my $2000 in chips. I don't chit-chat much. I plan on running this table quickly.

Hand 1: I get Ks, 8s to begin with and call. Players 4, 7, 1, and 2 all call as well and Player 3 gives the go ahead. Flop gives us Ac, 9s, 2s. Players 2 and 3 both check while 4 raises $300. I raise $300 more and everyone folds. I now sit at $2550.

Hand 2: I get Qh, Jh and lead by calling. Players 7 and 8 stay in and Player 4 gives the go ahead. Flop turns up Qc, 6s, 8s. I bet $100 and Player 7 folds. Player 8 raises me $200 and Player 4 folds. I call. Next card is a 5c and I bet another $100. He raises $400 and I call again. Last card is 4s and I'm not liking how this looks so I check. He checks as well and turns up 8h, 6h. He wins the $1825 pot and I drop to $1700.

Hand 4: Player 6 takes a nice $1900 pot. He moves into second with $2950.

Hand 6: I'm dealt Kh, Qc. Player 8 starts off by raising $100. I raise $200 more and he calls after everyone else gets out. Flop is 9d, Js, 9h and he bets $375. I call. Next card is a Jd and he checks. I bet all-in and he folds. I pick up $2425 which moves me into second.

Hand 7: I get Kd, 9h and call along with Players 3 and 7. Player 8 gives the go ahead and floip comes up 3c, 3d, Js. Player 7 bets $100 and Players 8 and 3 call. I do the same and the next card is 3s. The other 3 check so I go all-in and they fold. I now sit at $2875 and tied for first with Player 6.

Hand 10: I've got Kh, 2d and call. Player 7 calls and Player 3 gives the go ahead. Flop is 10h, Ah, Qc. Player 3 checks and I follow. Player 7 bets $100 and Player 3 raises $200. I call and Player 7 reraises $400. Player 3 and I call. Next card is 9c and Player 3 and I check again. Player 7 goes all in with $900, Player 3 follows by putting his $875 in. I say screw it, its early and call. Of course he's got an Ace High Straight and takes a $4950 pot. Player 3 exits stage left.

Hand 11: I lead with Ah, 8s and call. Everyone else folds and Player 4 gives the go ahead. Flop comes up 7c, Kc, 9d. He bets $50. I raise $100 and he calls. Next card is 9s. He bets $200 and I call. Last card is 8c and he goes all-in with $775. I call. He's got a 10 high straight and I'm just feeling stupid at this point. He wins $2350 and I'm looking at my chips which total $50.

Hand 12: Blinds jump to $50/$100 and I'm big blind so I'm all in. I get 3s, 2h off the deal. Player 2 raises everyone $200 and chases them all off. He flips over and has Jd, 8c. Flop comes up 5s, 7s Ad, 9c, 7d. I've got nothing and did nothing. I'm gone again.

And now I'm going to take a break from this dynasty. I feel that I need some more practice as I'm just not playing well. Plus this gives me time to escape from Guido and Dan, the lead bending man. I hop in the first taxi that comes along and speed off to the airport and hop the first plane out of town which takes me to Anchorage, Alaska. Oh well, maybe I can beat these guys at poker.

Tough luck BBT. It's not easy to beat this game, and it's doubly tough to beat it from a satellite. The computer players are good and use varying strategies.

All I can say is that the one thing I've learned about Hold 'em from this game is that patience pays. You'll get your share of good cards, so there's no need to force action - at least when there's four or more players at the table.
