Dickson Is CL's Top-Rated Rookie

The Continental League Benny Myers Rookie of the Year Award has been given to Bruce Dickson of the Noblesville Millers.

In the 2208 season the 23-year-old left fielder played in 152 games, recording a .320 batting average with 14 home runs, 77 RBIs and 77 runs scored.


Hartford's Maddox Selected Outstanding Rookie

It was a good season for Hartford's Nick Maddox, capped off today by the announcement that he has been named the Republic League Benny Myers Rookie of the Year Award winner.

The talented first baseman hit .279 in 162 games this season, racking up 192 hits, 16 home runs, 93 RBIs and 77 runs scored.

CL Gives #1 Pitcher Award

The Brooklyn clubhouse staff referred to him as "the kid" this season. Next year José Gonzáles will have to have a new nickname. He earned it after winning the 2208 Continental League Gabriel Prado Award.

Gonzáles made 32 starts this year, winning 20 and losing 5. He threw 218.2 innings, fanned 167, allowed 178 hits and 32 walks, while holding opposing teams to a .221 average as he logged an impressive 2.22 ERA.


Winged Lingerines Star Wins Gabriel Prado Award

The Republic League has heralded Tomohiko Murakami of the Ann Arbor Winged Lingerines as the #1 man on the mound for the 2208 campaign.

This year's Gabriel Prado Award winner stood out by running up an impressive 18-6 record, holding opposing hitters to a .245 batting average and posting a 2.94 ERA. The 34-year-old hurler tossed 208.1 innings, gave up 194 hits, fanned 145 and issued 63 walks.

CL's Best Batsman Selected, It's Peralta

What a way to finish off the year -- being honored with the 2208 Hideaki Tanaka Award in the Continental League. It had already been a very special season for Apex's Francisco Peralta, but today's announcement really put the icing on his cake.

All season long Francisco Peralta gave opposing pitchers fits by hitting .321 as he collected 192 hits, 31 doubles, 2 triples, 29 home runs and 112 RBIs.

When it came to hitting the baseball, Randall Stewart had few peers in the Republic League this year. The gifted third baseman for Hammersmith tagged opposing pitchers for a .328 average and was voted the Hideaki Tanaka Award for 2208. Included in his season stats were 206 hits, 36 doubles, 2 triples, 26 home runs, 93 runs scored and 92 RBIs.
