I'm gonna downgrade us to a B. I think my infield combined with some losses in pitching is gonna kill us.

Boston Settlers move, loyal fans threaten to jump from rooftops!

In shocking news, Boston management was unable to come to terms for a new stadium deal with the city and have held up their threats and have moved out of the state. One of the loyalest fanbases now find themselves without a team.

The Settlers have moved to a suburb of Indianapolis where they will be known as the Noblesville Millers. Team leader Bert 'Cupcakes' Thirkettle is seen in the team's new jersey during a scheduled press conference where he was asked how he got his nickname.

"We are so excited to move to a city that will truly get behind their team. We know Indiana is known for basketball, however, the following of their other sports teams is what showed us that we will have the city behind us the entire time no matter how long we've been in a city. I just love the look of Gold and Black!." Said General Manager Eddie K.

"Many people have asked me where I got the nickname from. I was a chubby kid and I loved cupcakes. But I owe it to those cupcakes I ate when I was little that put me behind the plate and made me the great catcher I am now." Thirkettle Responding to the question of the origin of his nickname said.

Bert 'Clean Plate' Thirkettle!

"As a kid, he never had a problem eating all of his dinner... in fact he usually came back for seconds and thirds and fourths! His favorite meal was extra doublechocolate fudge cake with whipped cream and twinkies." ... said Thirkettle's mom in a recent interview.

Is 65 that number above 99 ? See now when I miss the cap in the future you can say I can't count to 65 either.

Mendoza Raps 400th Roundtripper
Wednesday, April 7th, 2088: Pepe Mendoza circled the bases and raised his arm in triumph. He had finally hit his 400th home run. It was a homer for a lot of people: himself; his teammates past and present; his former managers and coaches; and especially his family, who sat near the plate cheering his every at-bat during the past few games.

Mendoza spoke with BNN and said, "I knew number 400 would come sooner or later. I had to keep reminding myself, 'Relax, relax, just let it happen, let it happen.' And it finally did."

His milestone homer came in the Noblesville Millers 5-4 win over the Baltimore Charm. Mendoza went 1 for 4 in the game, scored 1 run, and batted in 1.

Mendoza is hitting the ball at a .303 clip over his career. In 1920 games he has delivered 2334 hits, 400 home runs with 1368 RBIs and scored 1154 times.

RL Pitcher of the Month Goes to Reyes
Saturday, May 1st, 2088: José Reyes has been around the league long enough to know that relievers are often overlooked. That has never stopped him from doing what he does best -- and he did it extremely well in April and stole away with the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

The Marlboros bullpen ace collected 4 saves and 9 strikeouts in 12.2 innings, holding the opposition to a .150 average and posting a 0.71 ERA and a 4-0 record.

CL Pitcher of the Month Goes to Ramos
Saturday, May 1st, 2088: Francisco Ramos has made fans throughout Front Office Offseason League take notice over the past month with an exceptional 3-0 record. No pitcher in the Continental League threw better in April, garnering him the Pitcher of the Month award today.

In 5 starts Ramos compiled a 2.06 ERA, putting up a 3-0 record, striking out 38 and tossing 39.1 innings.

I'm grumpy because of work. Evidently our project managers don't understand the importance of expectation setting when giving dates. I've worked 12 hours already today and probably have another 3-4 hours work after this sim to do.

García Earns April's Top Batter Prize in RL
Saturday, May 1st, 2088: Seasoned by several years of professional experience, 31-year-old Manny García put together a solid offensive month for Ann Arbor and was crowned April's top batter in the Republic League.

He batted .373 with 8 home runs, 27 RBIs and 24 runs scored.

Continental League Selects April's Best Batter
Saturday, May 1st, 2088: Hot-hitting left fielder Matt Cashmann of the Noblesville Millers really pounded opposing pitchers in April and collected Continental League Batter of the Month honors.

He hit .313 with 7 home runs and 20 RBIs and scored 20 runs.

RL Names Newcomer of the Month
Saturday, May 1st, 2088: April was a month to remember for Hartford left fielder Juan Valenzuela and it was capped off today with the announcement that he was named the winner of the Republic League Rookie of the Month award.

Valenzuela compiled a .322 batting average and .398 on-base percentage last month. In 21 games he piled up 28 hits, 6 home runs, 10 RBIs and 24 runs scored.

Red-Hot Apex Rookie Rated CL's Best
Saturday, May 1st, 2088: Manny Calderón is beginning to make a name for himself and he did it by posting a 3-0 record and a 4.39 ERA in April. For his spectacular mound performance last month he has been named BNN's Rookie of the Month in the Continental League.

The 24-year-old newcomer isn't at all intimidated by his lack of experience, at least not outwardly. In fact, by the way he has pitched beyond his years, you could easily mistake him for a veteran.

In 4 starts for the Assassins Calderón has struck out 10 batters in 26.2 innings, holding opposing hitters to a batting average of .264 during his hot streak.

No, it is the forums. I'm getting great response time to the server, so the server must be overloaded or something going on with the backend database for the forums.

Winter Wolves Caesar Nails Down 300-th Save
Thursday, May 20th, 2088: The Halifax Winter Wolves really celebrated their 2-1 victory over the Baltimore Charm at Charm Ballpark. Not only did the Winter Wolves win the game, but reliever Matthew Caesar recorded his 300th-career save. The bullpen ace stopped Baltimore on no runs and no hits in his 1 innings of work to seal the triumph.

"It's a pretty good milestone - It doesn't happen very often," Caesar said. "I was out there when my teammates needed me 300 times and I'm real proud of that."

Caesar has appeared in 716 games in his career and saved 300 of them. His record is 56-59 and he has struck out 868 in 913.1 innings, while registering a 3.01 ERA.

Tarn Booms 300th Homer
Monday, May 24th, 2088: It was a historic day for Napa Valley's fine left fielder Keith Tarn. He slammed home run number 300 in the Winemakers 6-5 loss to the Baltimore Charm at Ballpark of Napa Valley.

He told reporters after the game, that he was disappointed in losing the game. "It's great to get that many homers, but I don't play for homers -- I play to win. That's the name of the game."

In his milestone-making game Tarn went 2 for 3, scored 2 runs and collected 5 RBI. That home run put him in a select group of ballplayers.

Lifetime Tarn is hitting .293 with 1480 hits, 177 doubles, 23 triples and 301 home runs. He has scored 893 runs and driven in 882.

Republic League Picks Best Starter in May
Tuesday, June 1st, 2088: Will Grant's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 3-0 in May, the 30-year-old Colorado hurler has been named Republic League Pitcher of the Month.

So far this season Grant has a 6-2 record with a 2.61 ERA.

Cull Best CL Starter
Tuesday, June 1st, 2088: When Gordon Cull takes the mound, a Noblesville victory is usually the result. That was the the case in May.

That's why he was voted the Continental League Pitcher of the Month.

Cull throttled league hitters the whole month with an impressive 4-0 mark and 1.62 ERA in 5 starts. The Millers star hurler also rung up 37 strikeouts in 39 innings.

RL Announces Outstanding Batter Award
Tuesday, June 1st, 2088: Lane Boyd battered Republic League pitchers all May and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Front Office Offseason League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 29-year-old Boyd told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I may not take the field and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 29 games, Boyd hit .330 with 6 home runs, 29 RBIs and scored 21 runs.

On the year Boyd has hit .299 with 9 home runs, 38 RBIs and scored 33 runs.

CL Presents Batter of Month Trophy to Zapata
Tuesday, June 1st, 2088: Though his face is weathered and his hands are calloused, Carlos Zapata can still get it done in Front Office Offseason League. In fact, the 31-year-old second baseman for Noblesville was named the Continental League Batter of the Month today after putting up an impressive performance at the plate.

In May he batted .377 with 3 home runs, 24 RBIs and 26 runs scored.

For the season, Zapata is hitting at a .300 clip with 5 home runs, 35 RBIs and has scored 44 runs. He has 66 hits, 15 walks and a .361 on-base percentage.

RL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Tuesday, June 1st, 2088: A veritable toddler to the Republic League, Joseph Price just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for May.

Over the past month the 23-year-old left fielder for Chico hit .319 with 15 hits, 2 home runs and 10 RBI. He also logged 0 walks and compiled a .333 on-base percentage.

Currently Price has 2 home runs and a .271 batting average.

Tuesday, June 1st, 2088: Halifax's Christian James collected 22 hits to snare the Continental League Rookie of the Month for May.

He batted .232 with 4 home runs, 11 RBIs and 11 runs scored.

Bedeschi Voted Best RL Pitcher in June
Thursday, July 1st, 2088: Whether Evaristo Bedeschi stays in Ann Arbor beyond this season remains to be seen, but while he's here he's making the most of it. In June the 31-year-old certainly pulled out all the stops by winning the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

He put up some fancy numbers with a 4-0 record and and an ERA of 1.57. In 34.1 innings he struck out 31, surrendered 30 hits, 7 walks and proved to be a solid performer in 5 starts last month.

For the season Bedeschi has compiled a 7-5 record with a 3.35 ERA.

Yamamoto Earns June's Best Pitcher Honor

Thursday, July 1st, 2088: June's best hurler was Kijuro Yamamoto of Noblesville. He overwhelmed CL hitters all month long and captured the Pitcher of the Month award as he collected a 5-1 record in 6 starts.

Sakaguchi Wins RL Prize, Named Best Hitter in June
Thursday, July 1st, 2088: There's nothing like putting up good, solid numbers in the last year of your contract. Today Mitsuo Sakaguchi helped his contract negotiations by nabbing June's Republic League Batter of the Month honors.

The Ann Arbor center fielder put together a .340 batting average with 5 home runs, 29 RBIs and 19 runs scored.

Someone will surely be opening up the vault this offseason if Sakaguchi continues at this brisk pace.

Thus far this year Sakaguchi has hit .339 with 7 home runs and 55 RBIs.

CL's Top Hitter Named

Thursday, July 1st, 2088: Keith Tarn hit the baseball with consistency all month long and was voted the Continental League's Batter of the Month for June.

Left Fielder Honored by RL
Thursday, July 1st, 2088: In June, budding star Juan Valenzuela had quite a month as he smashed up the Republic League and stashed away the Rookie of the Month award in his trophy case.

During the month he hit .275 with 3 doubles, 3 triples and 2 home runs. Valenzuela also scored 13 times and drove in 11 runs.

In 62 games this season Valenzuela is batting .291 with 72 hits and 9 home runs. He has scored 46 runs and driven in 24.

CL Names Halifax's James Top Rookie
Thursday, July 1st, 2088: Christian James is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Continental League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In June the Halifax hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .293 average with 29 hits, 8 home runs and 21 RBIs.

This year James has hit at a .252 clip with 38 RBIs, 13 home runs and 35 runs scored.
