Okay I requested to buy FAs for this sim and left instructions how to handle them. Why is it ignored if I leave instructions? I've asked this before and it wasn't answered. This seems weird. I buy things and they are ignored.

I explain it every time I have to enforce this rule. It is something that has bitten almost everyone at least once at some point.

From the rule book:

Quote:
  • If you attempt to sign a free agent for the Friday night sim (the regular season sim) and wish for him to be placed on the major league roster for the regular season, you must leave an empty slot on the major league roster for them. If you end up not signing that player, you will end up playing with 24 players for that season instead of 25.
  • The commish is not allowed to promote players from AAA to the Major League Roster or demote players from the Major League roster during the Regular Season or Playoff sim for any team. Those transactions have to be performed by the individual manager and included in the file export for the sim. Exceptions are if additional players are signed during the sim without roster room, the commish will automatically demote those players.

Problem is, I can't import after I've simmed forward a day for the Free agents to have signed.

If it was something that I had looked for before hand, I would definitely have dropped you a PM to see if you wanted to re-upload. By the time I caught it, there wasn't anything I could do there. I am sorry

What is with this? It's only a couple freakin pitchers. I left complete instructions on who to send down if I signed either or both of them. Why is it such a problem? It's not like I didn't win them fair and square? Why such a big deal? YOu yourself say you don't like lots of rules and crap and you do this. I sent these yesterday even and you just now noticed this?

Just to clarify, it is not that I am unwilling to import after simming forward a day, the game won't accept the export. I would have to upload a brand new file and such to be able to have someone then export after I've simmed forward a day.

Why didn't you just make the simple change of sending the pitcher to AAA that I told you. YOu've done so before for other reasons.

Well, the big problem I have is that the rules will never be changed even if they don't totally make sense to hav3e anymore. I tried submitting a simple rules change before and the discussion was immediately dereailed with the excuse that you didn't want to change rules because it added too much work., which of course everyone is going to agree with. THe probgelm is that when one change like this affects the entire season, that's quite a thing. It can blopw the whole season, it affects things that much. Yes it's only a game. But if the entire game is over in a second like this one, having rules which make you lose is simply not very fun.

Teodoro Fashions Shutout Against Winged Lingerines
Tuesday, April 5th, 2089: Hammersmith starter Carlitos Teodoro really did a number on the Winged Lingerines today, shutting them out 7-0 on 2 hits in a complete game victory. He issued 4 walks and had 3 strikeouts.

In his postgame comments, the Ann Arbor manager said, "We didn't have good at-bats. I don't make excuses, but when we were playing the game, our energy didn't show. That comes from either extremely good pitching or extremely lousy hitting... seeing as our team has a bunch of pretty good hitters, I have to tip my cap to Carlitos... he did an outstanding job today."

I'll ask again, please respond to my PMs instead of hashing it out during the sim. I'd be more than happy to respond to any questions, concerns or complaints you have there. As well as give suggestions on how to do the transaction in a way that fits in the rules for future needs. I'm always happy to help, I just don't really enjoy getting dumped on publicly.

Espinoza Touches All the Bases, Hits for Cycle
Friday, April 15th, 2089: Toronto's Alfredo Espinoza went 4-for-4 in today's game and hit for the cycle, collecting all four types of hits and 2 RBIs. But his effort could not overcome the Hartford Harpooners, who won the game 5-3.

"I didn't really think about it at the time, although after the third hit, it snuck into my mind," Espinoza told reporters. "The crowd certainly let me know in that last at-bat, that I was going for the cycle... and I was able to make solid contact and get it. In the end the only thing that matters is that we lost," Espinoza added.

A. Espinoza hit an RBI triple in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off R. Cranidge in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

This season Espinoza is batting .308 with 12 hits, 1 home run, 5 RBIs, .364 OBP and has scored 4 runs.

Do you not see all Alan does for these leagues? He works at least 60 hours a week and still finds time to volunteer his time for our enjoyment. Cut him a little bit of slack for expecting people to follow guidelines for such changes. Sorry couldn't hold my tongue this time. I like you crimson but Alan is donating his time when he is clearly a busy man.

Vélez Clips Winemakers for Cycle
Saturday, May 28th, 2089: Rodrigo Vélez of the Baltimore Charm touched all the bases today at Charm Ballpark in the 8-7 victory over Napa Valley, hitting for the cycle. He teed off on Winemakers pitching for a single, double, triple and a home run. The feat is rare in baseball as it requires a game of no fewer than four hits and the unusual combination of a home run, which requires a batter to hit for some power -- and a triple, which requires a batter to have both speed on the basepaths -- and a favorable fall of the ball.

"The hardest part was the triple," confessed Vélez, "A lot has to go right for you to get a triple. It is real easy to get greedy trying to stretch a double and get thrown out. It's really hard to get a three-bagger." He finished his special day with 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 3 RBI, 3 runs scored and a place in the record book.

R. Vélez singled in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, struck out in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off S. Chang in the 8th.

Looking at his present stats, Vélez has compiled a .245 batting average in 48 games with a .327 on-base percentage, while hitting 6 home runs and driving in 22 runs.

Winged Lingerines Hurler Named May's #1 Starter
Wednesday, June 1st, 2089: Evaristo Bedeschi's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 4-0 in May, the 32-year-old Ann Arbor hurler has been named Republic League Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 51 in 45.1 innings, logged an ERA of 1.19 and allowed opponents to hit .191 against him.

This year Bedeschi has compiled a 8-0 record with a 1.26 ERA in 11 starts.

Caesar CL Winner, Top Hurler in May
Wednesday, June 1st, 2089: Matthew Caesar was the anchor in the Halifax bullpen last month and snatched up the Continental League Pitcher of the Month honors for May. The 32-year-old is in the prime of his career and pitching like he intends to stay around baseball for quite some time to come.

He threw 18 innings over 13 relief appearances and collected a 2-0 record with 20 strikeouts and 7 saves while etching his 0.00 ERA.

This season Caesar has notched 15 saves. In 25 relief appearances, he has 32 strikeouts in 30 innings with a 1.80 ERA. His season won-lost mark is 2-3.

Bedeschi Too Tough, Blanks Hartford
Friday, June 24th, 2089: "He was too darn good for us today," grumbled the Hartford manager after his club suffered a 4-0 shutout at the hands of Evaristo Bedeschi of the Ann Arbor Winged Lingerines. He held the Hartford Harpooners scoreless in a 2-hit whitewash.

Bedeschi was in a zone of his own most of the game and finished with 8 strikeouts and 1 walk in a strong outing.

In a postgame quote his own skipper added, "He pitched his butt off, had good velocity, good movement and had those guys off balance. Evaristo did a whale of a pitching job."

This season Bedeschi has compiled a 10-3 record with a 1.54 ERA.

Calderon's no-hitter is the first in FOOL since Cull pitched one for the Boston Settlers two seasons ago.

Rivera Gets June's Top Pitcher Trophy
Friday, July 1st, 2089: Héctor Rivera nailed down June's Republic League Pitcher of the Month award today, adding pressure on Hartford to get a deal done before the 34-year-old becomes a free agent.

Rivera seems unfazed by the talk. "We get a deal done or we don't," he told reporters, "I'm not worrying about next year. Worrying about next year isn't what wins awards, you know?"

He fashioned a 4-1 record, reeled off 28 strikeouts, worked 32 innings and held batters to a .254 average for the month as he posted a 3.09 ERA.

This season Rivera has a 9-4 mark in 16 starts with a 3.67 ERA. He has given up 95 hits in 103 innings, struck out 102 and issued 14 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .245 batting average against him.

Assassins Ramos June's Top Hurler
Friday, July 1st, 2089: Francisco Ramos left little doubt in the minds of Continental League officials that he should be named June's Pitcher of the Month for his outstanding performance.

"I wasn't always confident at the start of a game," said Ramos. "Sometimes it's hard to get into the flow -- the calls aren't going your way or you're trying to spot your pitches too much. You just have to relax and use what you've been taught all your life -- get back to basics -- good mechanics, control, location, keep the ball down."

The 27-year-old tossed 46.1 innings of quality baseball -- going 5-0 with a 1.75 ERA and 39 strikeouts.

This season Ramos has a 10-3 record with a 2.55 ERA in 16 starts.

Thus far this year DeRosier is batting .332 with 21 home runs, 68 RBIs and 47 runs scored.

Vélez of Baltimore CL Batter of the Month
Friday, July 1st, 2089: Rodrigo Vélez battered Continental League pitchers all June and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Front Office Offseason League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 33-year-old Vélez told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I may not take the field and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 23 games, Vélez hit .385 with 6 home runs, 21 RBIs and scored 15 runs.

Thus far this season in 74 games Vélez is batting .295 with 12 home runs, 43 RBIs and 33 runs scored. He has 87 hits in 295 at-bats.

Adams Named Newcomer of the Month
Friday, July 1st, 2089: Chris Adams was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 25-year-old shortstop definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen June's Republic League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 23 games Adams batted .329 for Hartford, slapping 24 hits in 73 at-bats with 2 home runs, drove in 15 runs and scored 11 times.

For the year Adams is batting .269 with 61 hits and 2 home runs. He has scored 28 times and driven in 32.

CL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Friday, July 1st, 2089: Youngster Claudio Martínez emerged as the latest Continental League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Baltimore deserved the honor, batting .368 with 1 home run and 9 RBI. Is the month of June a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Martínez enjoy the limelight.

This season Martínez is hitting .312 with 1 home run.

I signed Adams because of the point Alan made about average hitting but good SS defensively is good to have. Nice to see him with 2 batting awards.
