Good thing they signed him before the season - the Yankee magic doesn't work as well there. If they picked him up in July he'd go 8-0 with an ERA below 3.00.

I think Hampton's is just because of how crippling it was financially and the value difference was negligible. When you're talking about $120M, 3 wins isn't really a big difference.
