DriveTheLane.com College Basketball Sim
I know some here used to play Simulated Sports college basketball game and it's now been back for a bit in its new incarnation at drivethelane.com. A brand new new league just opened up for sign ups today if anyone was interested in getting back into it. I've been playing since 2001, I think I actually found out about it from a thread here back in the day, and it's always been a well run enjoyable league.

Sent you guys exhibition game requests - not sure how it actually works though!
Do we need to recruit prior to the April kick off date?

Reading the howtoplay, he first two weeks are counted as one week for recruiting. You can wait to see HS stats before deciding who to recruit.

I guess we will find out. It looks like I should win 2 guys I coveted and I'm tied with a bunch for 2 others. I also have 3 guys in the burner that I *should* win one of if I miss on the two big fish. It's an interesting system - next season I would probably hand out my scholarships a little earlier.

How did recruiting go with you guys?
C26 Shawnee Marauders ended up with a pretty good class (Ranked 34 and 11) spearheaded by hometown hero Caleb Weiss. Now it's a matter of figuring out what to do with the team.

I ended up giving up on this game this season. It's just too random on recruiting and coaching. I beat a good team and then lose the next game to an 0-7 team because two players fouled out in 15 min. Yet, I played normal in that game and Man-to-man in the game (against a better team) that I had no foul trouble.
I get you want some randomness, but I have no idea what to do as a coach. So, at this point, what is the point to play? Recruiting is also odd and where people sign doesn't make a ton of sense. I appreciate the effort in this game, but it really needs more feedback to coaching in season. Are any of you still playing? |

Yeah, it took a little while before I remembered why I stopped playing it originally - basically, the reasons you outlined here. I tweaked my strategy a few times and got the opposite of what I would have expected to see.
