1.12 OJ Winters RB 38/38
1.26 Lionel Erickson CB 43/56
2.1 Jerry Reeves WR 24/45
2.2 Ted Lindsay S 25/47
3.1 Jerald Granger TE 26/58

5.1 Jimmie Hoffman LDT 16/44
6.2 Toby Houston MLB 12/38
7.1 Ike Prescott RT 15/44

Draft Thoughts:

With no stud QB in the draft I looked at RB next. I run a modified Play Action Vertical gameplan and plan on using that here. A good RB is a must. I liked OJ Winters the best but I didn't really think I needed to use the 1.1 on him as he was more of a combine stud (and underrated). I traded down to 1.5 and picked up a future 1st from Buffalo. I then traded all my future picks to different teams ending up with the picks shown above.

QBs went 1-4 which kind of sucked so I was forced to grab a QB at 1.5 I just couldn't pass on Powell at 1.10 since I wanted a target for my future shitty QB. I knew I had 1.12 and Winters was still there so I only had to dodge one more pick before I would grab Winters. We was there at 1.12 and I was happy. After that I went best pick available.

Everyone drafted will start from day one unless they tank in camp and I see a boom at the same position...

Next up: Training Camp!

Damnit...

Still getting used to the change tracker so I don't have a full team update of Post Camp but I can see what happened to my rookies since I wrote them down above...

1.5 Kim McGregor, QB 9/47 -> 16/47 -> +7/0
1.10 Harris Powell WR 41/79 -> 45/73 -> +4/-6
1.12 OJ Winters RB 38/38 -> 44/49 -> +6/+11
1.26 Lionel Erickson CB 43/56 -> 44/52 -> +1/-4
2.1 Jerry Reeves WR 24/45 -> 29/51 -> +5/+6
2.2 Ted Lindsay S 25/47 -> 31/52 -> +6/+5
3.1 Jerald Granger TE 26/58 -> 29/52 -> +3/-6
4.2 Lance Greene LT 22/51 -> 25/52 -> +3/+1
5.1 Jimmie Hoffman LDT 16/44 -> 21/44 -> +5/0
6.2 Toby Houston MLB 12/38 -> 15/38 -> +3/0
7.1 Ike Prescott RT 15/44 -> 18/45 -> +3/+1

Overall a good draft. I knew Powell would drop, I just have to hope he doesn't drop too far when he's full developed. Erickson dropping is kind of a disappointment. Granger dropping is a bummer but not a killer.

Everyone else either stayed the same or improved. Winters boomed like I thought he would and should continue to boom as he gets exp.

Season 1 has finally come to a horrific end.

1-15

Bright Spots:
OJ Winters RB - 257 att, 1081 yds, 9 TD (14 Games Played)
Kim McGregor, QB - 233/463, 50.3%, 3072 yds, 19 TD, 19 Int
Jerry Reeves, WR - 77 rec, 1124 yds, 7 TD
Harris Powell, WR - 67 rec, 1050 yds, 6 TD
Rico Coleman, MLB - 106 tkl, 36 asst, 0.0 sack, 1 int

No defensive player had more than 3 sacks or 2 ints. Frankly we sucked but that was to be expected.

No career ending injuries. No player awards.

I am not franchising anyone (everyone is already signed)

I am sending Kim McGregor to summer league.

I'm starting my worst QB to start the season as he is demanding a trade (but already signed for this season, 2009)

We start off the season with a 20-13 win over the Giants so we will see how we do with Harr at QB as McGregor dropped 5 future in camp and I need to get Harr's attitude up. If he wins he'll stay in there...

We suck. I'll post career stats when I finish this. Winters/Reeves/Powell are my best guys but they have no QB to throw it to them...
