Hey gang, there were a ton of teams with way too many players on their squad, or over the cap. I'll be sending individual PMs to those owners, but as a general reminder:

If you are planning on signing free agents for the regular season sim, please feel free to send me a PM to me with instructions on who to send down or where to put players for the season sim. I don't mind helping with it and it is much easier than me trying to guess what to do with the players!

Barrón Swings for the Cycle
Wednesday, April 16th, 2121: "Ladies and gentlemen, Javier Barrón has just hit for the cycle!" That was the call from the PA announcer as Barrón collected the last hit he needed to complete the cycle today against the Winter Wolves. He collected 4 hits in 8 at-bats, 2 runs batted in and 1 run scored as Napa Valley stopped Halifax 4-3 at Howler Meadow.

Hitting for the cycle is one of the most difficult feats in baseball at any level. The odds are really against a player hitting a single, double, triple and a home run in the same game.

"It's the last thing on my mind really. I'm out there trying to get a blooper or a walk or whatever might help the team. Hitting for the cycle is probably as much about luck as about skill," Barrón told reporters after the game.

He may be right, but it's not every day that someone hits for the cycle. That's why his name will be placed in the record book.

J. Barrón grounded out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off E. Langdon in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, doubled in the 8th, struck out in the 10th, struck out in the 13th, singled in the 15th and hit an RBI triple in the 17th.

This year Barrón is hitting .268 with 11 hits, 3 home runs, 6 RBIs and has scored 7 runs.

Marlboros Hurler Named RL's #1 Starter
Thursday, May 1st, 2121: Lyndon Beacher's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 3-1 in April, the 31-year-old Toronto hurler has been named Republic League Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 25 in 36.2 innings, logged an ERA of 1.72 and allowed opponents to hit .215 against him.

April's Best Hurler in CL Is García
Thursday, May 1st, 2121: Jesús García has been around the league long enough to know that relievers are often overlooked. That has never stopped him from doing what he does best -- and he did it extremely well in April and stole away with the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

The Brownstones bullpen ace collected 7 saves and 17 strikeouts in 15 innings, holding the opposition to a .157 average and posting a 1.20 ERA and a 2-0 record.

Zambrano Wallops #300
Thursday, July 10th, 2121: Ann Arbor first baseman Eduardo Zambrano pounded a home run during the Winged Lingerines 5-4 loss to Los Angeles yesterday. Despite the defeat the long ball was a significant achievement and raised his career home run total to 300.

The Ann Arbor star went 1 hit for 4 at-bats during the game, scoring 1 run and had 2 runs batted in.

Zambrano has a lifetime .294 average with 1707 hits, 328 doubles, 25 triples, 300 home runs and 1044 RBIs to date.

Wheeler Cops #1 Pitcher Award in July
Friday, August 1st, 2121: Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Arthur Wheeler still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in July. The 32-year-old starter for Los Angeles was named Republic League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

He collected 4 wins and 1 loss with 25 strikeouts in his 5 starts, putting up a fine 3.25 ERA in 36 innings of work.

On the season Wheeler has 8 wins and 7 losses and a 5.10 ERA.

Halifax's Rheaume CL Top Pitcher
Friday, August 1st, 2121: A reliever is at his best when the game is on the line. The pressure doesn't get to him. Martin Rheaume of the Halifax Winter Wolves is just that kind of pitcher. In July, he was acclaimed the Pitcher of the Month by the Continental League.

Halifax's star reliever held the opposition to a .276 average and put up 11 saves and 6 strikeouts in 16.2 innings with a 0-0 mark and a 1.08 ERA.

This season Rheaume has made 50 relief appearances and has 31 saves. His record is 1-3 with 33 strikeouts in 56.2 innings with a 1.59 ERA.

Eduardo Zambrano is July's #1 Hitter in RL
Friday, August 1st, 2121: Free agent-to-be Eduardo Zambrano has inflated his asking price over the past 30 days by winning the Republic League Batter of the Month.

In July, the 32-year-old Ann Arbor first baseman hit .364 with 12 home runs and 31 RBIs.

If he keeps putting numbers like that up, he could be hauling in a big wad of cash at this time next year.

This season Zambrano has delivered 125 hits in 388 at-bats for a .322 average with 28 home runs. He is getting on base at a .385 clip and his totals also include 83 RBIs and 61 runs scored. This year Zambrano has played in 100 games.

Barrón Named CL Batter of the Month
Friday, August 1st, 2121: The Batter of the Month honoree for July in the Continental League is Napa Valley Winemakers catcher Javier Barrón.

He showed no mercy as he finished the month with a .314 batting average, 9 home runs, 19 RBIs, and 18 runs scored.

So far this year in 92 games Barrón is hitting .266 with 21 home runs, 56 RBIs and 54 runs scored.

Currently Salazar is batting .301 with 6 home runs and 30 RBIs.

July's Best Newcomer Named by CL
Friday, August 1st, 2121: Roberto Lizaraga's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Noblesville left fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In July he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.

During the month he hit .337 with 3 doubles, no triples and 4 home runs. Lizaraga also scored 10 times and drove in 8 runs.

O'Rorke King of the Hill, No-Hits Winter Wolves
Sunday, August 3rd, 2121: Ernest O'Rorke made quick work of Halifax at Assasins Ballpark earlier today. The 26-year-old hurler tossed a no-hitter for the Apex Assassins in defeating the Winter Wolves 3-0.

"I really didn't have my best stuff today," he admitted after the game, "there's a lot of luck involved in throwing a no-hitter. Some days it's better to lucky than good."

In a superlative outing he registered 8 strikeouts and 1 walk.

Luck or not, O'Rorke will go down in history and will get his name written down in the league record book.

This year O'Rorke has registered 10 wins and 5 losses in 21 starts with a 3.48 ERA while registering 98 strikeouts and 55 walks in 124 innings.

O'Rorke's no-hitter is the first for an Apex pitcher since Jorge Ramirez pitched one 14 seasons ago!

Martínez Gets #300
Sunday, August 24th, 2121: Brooklyn's outstanding first baseman Aurelio Martínez joined the 300 home run club today at Assasins Ballpark with a booming blast in the Brownstones win over the Assassins. They topped Apex 5-4.

On his milestone day Martínez had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 3 runs batted in and 3 runs scored.

Tongue-in-cheek he told the press, "Don't tell me when I get close to the next milestone. Just tell me after I reach it. It will be easier to hit that way."

For his career Martínez has hit at a .296 clip. Among his lifetime numbers are 1762 hits, 318 doubles, 33 triples, 301 home runs and 1073 RBIs.

O'Dell Named Top CL Hurler

Manselli Captures RL Batter of Month Award
Monday, September 1st, 2121: When guys like Colorado's Ermanno Manselli win Batter of the Month awards, it just makes you feel good. In a productive August, the longtime Republic League veteran toyed with opposing pitchers all month long, collecting 39 hits in 105 at-bats.

The veteran second baseman hit for a .371 batting average and collected 6 home runs, 17 RBIs and 18 runs scored.

In his 2121 season totals, Manselli has 12 home runs, .316 BA, .391 OBP, 66 RBIs and 74 runs scored.

Monday, September 1st, 2121: Roberto Mendoza of the Gothams hit .430 in August with 4 home runs, 20 RBIs and 17 runs scored to capture a majority of votes for the Continental League Batter of the Month trophy.

The 32-year-old is in the last year of his contract and will undoubtedly use these numbers to try and bring in a huge pay raise.

This year Mendoza has hit at a .339 clip with 75 RBIs, 13 home runs and 70 runs scored.

Xiu Top of His Class in August
Monday, September 1st, 2121: Zi-cheng Xiu is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Republic League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In August the Hartford hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .311 average with 23 hits, 7 home runs and 14 RBIs.

This year Xiu is batting .266 with 22 home runs and 57 RBIs. In 99 games he has scored 54 times.

August's Top Newcomer Named by CL

O'Dell pitched 39.2 innings, fanned 26 and posted a 3.63 ERA. He chalked up 5 wins and 1 loss and held opponents to a .221 average.

In season stats O'Dell shows a 10-10 record in 26 games, 142 innings, 96 strikeouts and a 4.75 ERA.

Wednesday, October 1st, 2121: "The kid had it all working last month," a veteran teammate told reporters. "He keeps up those kind of numbers, we may have to start inviting him out with us after the games."

Juan Rodríguez put together a very solid month to take home the Republic League's top pitching honor in September.

The 23-year-old reliever threw like a veteran. In 13 relief appearances he raked in 1 save and 18 strikeouts in 15.1 innings as he put together his 5-0 record and 1.76 ERA.

Season-to-date, Rodríguez has rung up 1 save in 71 relief appearances. He has 78 strikeouts and 58 walks in 86 innings while registering a 4.08 ERA and a 8-3 won-lost record.

CL Announces September's Best Starter
Wednesday, October 1st, 2121: September's standout hurler was Don Sentner of Noblesville. He muzzled Continental League hitters and held them in check the entire month to capture the Pitcher of the Month award.

To win the honor Sentner compiled an impressive 4-1 mark and 1.43 ERA in 5 starts. The Millers star hurler also rung up 28 strikeouts in 37.2 innings.

Sentner has made 30 starts this season, posting 14 wins and 12 losses. Opposing clubs are batting .234 against him and he has 147 strikeouts in 202.2 innings with a 2.84 ERA.
