I'm enjoying watching the different approaches. Want to see how the games turn out. Went with the shortened season so that every game means something.

If this season goes well I may do a second season but maybe with a twist, like not being able to draft players who were taken in season 1.

Shoot a 419 average season is ranked 4th as a CF? WHAT? Holy smokes. The talent in MLB is crazy.

Finding it fascinating how the players are being rated and ranked as I import them. Going to be some serious talent in the league.

San Fernando Dragons select:

SP Roger Clemens, 1997 Toronto Blue Jays

EF - I think you have Vince's list, and he said he'd be out all night, so I guess you can keep us moving?

I'd like to see only being able to draft one player from each decade as an awesome twist if you do this again. Maybe once you've selected from all 14, you can reuse them or something.

Or something like 2 from each decade, and pre 1920 counts as one decade with the rule above about reuse?

Grrr...I had my hopes up that Clemens would make it to me. Great pick...that puts me in a bind between several players I really like. After a lot of hemming and hawing...

SS Ernie Banks, 1959 Chicago Cubs

And EagleFan, if you don't mind I would like to swap my Hank Aaron pick to 1963 Hank Aaron, not 1961 Hank Aaron.

Question: how interchangeable are OF positions? It's been a long time since I have played OOTP regularly. If I were to select someone who hypothetically never played an inning in LF in their career, but I moved them to LF, how much would that mess with them?

Also, I should be around almost all day tomorrow. If it gets stuck on me and that list still has people in it, feel free to pick for me, but give me a reasonable amount of time first (an hour or two should be plenty).

Yeah, I don't think you'd want to do that if they don't have any experience at the position. It's certainly not "OF positions are interchangeable" from my experience. And that actually brings a couple more important points to my mind, as haven't imported historical players into OOTP in many years.

1) Will imported players come in with just experience and rating at their primary position they played that year, or a realistic balance of the positions they played that season/over the import period?

2) Will the CPU manager put SP as relievers and actually use them reliably, or is it going to freak out and do stupid stuff if you don't have a true MR/CL on the roster? Not sure if anyone is considering doing that, but that would be sad if somebody takes a bunch of great SP and ruins their team. Historically dominant relievers are not a dime a dozen.

Hey EF you have Ty Cobb listed at 1922 on the master list. I chose the 1911 version

I have so many thoughts about this as it's happening and I can't really discuss them because they revolve around players who have not been picked yet.

It's been a rough evening (migraine, storm, power outage, then had to pick up my youngest and her friends from their job in OC). I will update tomorrow.

Will send out a PM to try to get it moving again.

Sadly no new pick.

That said a question for our host, EagleFan.

If I was looking at a player who was traded midseason, which team does he fall under? The team he started the season with? The team he ended the season with? or gulp both teams?

Thanks and hopefully we get back to picking soon

We'll give him a bit more time. He hasn't been online for a while, hope all is well.

If it gets too much longer I'll put down a deadline and what we'll do is bypass him and continue and then he can make the picks he missed when he returns.

Since you're back - hope you are feeling better, migraines are no joke - any way to change my Hank Aaron pick to reflect the 1963 version?

Once you go I'll go quick and then crash. I'm a bit out of pocket until possibly late afternoon tomorrow but I have a bunch of picks before I go again after tonight.

Nice pick. Difficult to choose which season of his. I think 1990 was is best overall season but in 1985 he qualifies as a CF I believe.

Thank you and I agree that '85 might be the better season...but he's also a Yankee in '85 and for the future I needed him to not be a Yankee. So 1990 it was and I'll just need to find my CF elsewhere.

But take those rankings with a grain of salt. Have seen those reports end up being just as much speculation as what you see on ESPN.

I like them. I think some of the fun will be looking back at the choices and deciding what we liked, what we hated, what the ratings had right and where they were off (I mean it's an 18 game season with maybe a 3 game playoff so we're probably going to see some crazy SSS swings for some of these guys.

Bah. 1 & 2 on my list. Great picks both. Henderson and what year to take for him was a great debate for me and some friends. I had him as a fringe 1st round talent; you don't get any better of a leadoff hitter, and it's not particularly close.
