I've played it. Very much like the FM of cricket.

This. Nice idea, terrible implementation.

Necrobumping this thread, because Cricket Coach 2012 seems to have made huge strides and is better than the other Cricket text sim on the market (I played it...) because this one has an editor.
I messed around with the demo for a while, came back to it and then finally pulled the trigger, mostly to mix it up more than anything else. Lots of almanac and HTML features too. Anyone taken a look at it? |

It doesn't have any online features tho, that's probably the biggest detractor. But I'm not sure how much appeal a league would have anyway.
That said, their forum over there has a lot of action. And the developer responds often. Cricket Coach 2012 - Official Forum • Index page |

Lastly, here's the link to the other major cricket text sim International Cricket Captain.
Childish Things :: International Cricket Captain 2012 - Downloads ICC has graphics, while Cricket Coach doesn't. It also has online league play. So really, it's more like OOTP v. PureSim in a sense to bring the worlds closer to home in terms of the differences. ICC is slicker and it has a separate iOS to boot. I liked it fine, especially having graphics...but I wanted to be able to edit, so I wasn't as interested in that one, but it's pretty good and would be probably the game to adopt if there was some massive interest in cricket all of a sudden in these parts. Can't remember which version it was, but a few years back I logged a lot of time on ICC. Solid sim, although I think my lack of knowledge around field placings and bowling strategies made it really tough for me to win a test match unless my batsmen played out of their minds.

Thanks for sharing - I may check this out. PS - Groundhog - a little late, but I'd like to trash talk the 4-0 vacation that the Aussies recently took to India.
