When you build a losing culture this is what you get. The players get their money no matter the type of effort they give. Moore is a perfect example. His lack of effort from preseason until now shows what kind of player he really is. He's had more drops this season so far than probably the last three years. Oh yeah...he got paid. Pathetic.

Has Odunze gotten open yet? Still waiting on this "value" pick to show something.

And the vaunted Bears' secondary? Stevenson can't cover anyone, and this was true before his Washington disaster. Edmunds is another bad contract. Byard was a great pickup. Too many signs that Poles is in over his head. He won't get fired, of course, so it will be more of the same until the Bears get new ownership.

was watching the Giants game.. and you know what? Daniel Jones may not be much at QB, but I don't think anyone could be successful behind that OL. Just multiple times Lock had to start scrambling the second he finished the drop back. No time to look, no time to scan.

Odunze is good. They just played him out of position most of the year. But yeah, Poles needs to go. 14-33 is brutal.

I have no clue if the injury Justin Herbert suffered is a serious one, but I had flashbacks to QB hits pre QB safety rules when I saw him jump in the air prior to being hit. That had chest and internal organ injuries written all over it.

If Cousins is really the reason for the poor play then I think we all know they have a plan B in house. If his next intervention isn't successful, I'd put Penix in and see what he's got.

Unfortunately they don't seem interested at all in putting Penix in. He won't play unless Cousins is injured or they are eliminated from the playoffs. This organization is a dumpster fire.

There was some commercial last night that lumped Cousins in with Dak and 1 or 2 other QBs as being NFL leaders in passing this year and I was like, "They must have created this commercial in mid-Septmeber."

Was it one of the commercials with the know-it-all kid with the Sicilianoesque ears? Because one (one in the restaurant) has him affirming you can count on the Dolphins being set to make a deep run this year, from sources who are never wrong. Can't say that one aged well.

The problems for the Falcons run deeper than Cousins. They are just such a poorly coached team. Take this sequence yesterday...4th and 7 basically at midfield, they punt but get an offsides call. Now it's 4th and 2 inside Minnesota territory...so they decide to go for it. What do they do? They send out Cousins to do that stupid thing that almost never works, which is try and draw the offsides. By the second fake hard count, everyone knew and of course they get called for delay of game and punt the ball directly in to the end zone. So after all that, a net change of about 20-25 yards.

Then at the end of the half, they run some pretty terrible plays from the 2 and facing 4th and goal from the 2 and down a TD, they kick the FG. He was 17-31 with the Bucs and 4-7 as an interim with the Falcons. He is exactly who he is.

But all of that will be overlooked because this isn't exactly the sharpest fanbase on the planet, and a shiny new toy entertains them ... until it get inevitably broken (if it ever works in the first place)

The end of the Bills game was even worse than just the stupid failed QB sneak/TO which forced them to go for an onsides kick rather than preserve 3 TOs to try to force the Rams into a punt. On the final play of the game, a Rams punt, the PR didn't even attempt to field the punt even though the only way they could win at that point was a return TD AND they only had 9 men on the field even after a delay of game penalty AND a TO. Whoo boy!

I ended up watching about 10 minutes of that game last night. Spent most of the first half making a bean salad and then sat down to watch the final 2 minutes of the 1st half, went into the bedroom during halftime, put on the news, then flipped back to the game, decided I really didn't care to watch the rest, and put on Netflix.

Rare for me to do that, but that game was not interesting at all. And really, the rest of the MNF schedule is kinda crappy too. There are 2 games next week, BTW. And while most of the rest of the games feature at least 1 playoff team, none of them is exciting at all. Even Detroit/SF is less interesting than it could/should have been. Oh well.

How was the bean salad?

Also, the Lions and Tim Patrick could very well be fighting for homefield advantage throughout the playoffs and the bye. Get hyped! Get involved!

Excellent! Just had it with lunch.

Sure, I'd like the Lions to have home field, etc., but I'm just looking for good football games first and foremost. Which is why I skipped last night's game.

For the love of your daughter and me, first and foremost just look for and hope for a Lions blowout victory! That's a good game. That's a great game right there.

I'm glad the bean salad was excellent!

Apparently Belichick to UNC is all but done.

It seems rainy home games tied 3-3 in the third quarter when playoff hopes are on the line were not what De'Vondre Campbell planned on when he became a professional athlete.

He has started almost every game he has played for four different teams over nine seasons. Best of luck to him. Didn't some notable wide receiver essentially retire at halftime not that long ago?

That game was so bad it felt like everyone was De'Vondre Campbell, but he was the only one to verbalize it to his coach.

Due to injuries, my fantasy playoff opponent is starting Jake Haner and Desmond Ridder at QB this week.

If I somehow lose to those two, I think that I would prefer to have just not made the playoffs in the first place

I assume you are talking about the late Vontae Davis.

Vontae Davis on NFL retirement: ‘I don’t think I quit’ | CNN

From what I can tell, this is not that. Evidently, Campbell was pissed that Dre Greenlaw got the start over him last night. Greenlaw is the guy who tore his Achilles running off the sidelines in the last Super Bowl. From everything that I have seen and heard this morning, Greenlaw is one of the emotional leaders on the team. The Niners reportedly only signed Campbell as a placeholder until Greenlaw came back.

I will take the player's side in just about most situations. With what we know now, I can't in this one.

It was Antonio Brown, three seasons ago, with Tampa Bay. But I remember Vontae Davis.

I know what you mean about usually taking the player's side, but it's more in the sense of understanding the sacrifices they make to be part of a team. To get there is an implied contract.

So there are situations like this one, which seems like an easy one for both the 49ers and the players - Campbell would have a hard time even getting through a practice at this point. And other situations, like Deshaun Watson, that seem more complicated, and players and coaches are largely silent about it. But you sense a deep frustration from everyone, to the point where the Browns as a franchise right now are heavily affected.

Ah, see no one here in the Tampa are believe Antonio Brown was mentally competent at that time to choose to quit on the Bucs.

"The blind soldier fought for me in this war. The least I can do now is fight for him. I have eyes. He hasn’t. I have a voice on the radio, he hasn’t. I was born a white man. And until a colored man is a full citizen, like me, I haven’t the leisure to enjoy the freedom that colored man risked his life to maintain for me. I don’t own what I have until he owns an equal share of it. Until somebody beats me and blinds me, I am in his debt."- Orson Welles August 11, 1946

Biggest Broncos game in, what, 7 or 8 years? And then they turn around and play Chargers on Thursday. Win Sunday and they are almost in, but then win again on Thursday (fat chance, IMO) and they might even end up with a decent seed.

A first round match-up against Russ would be hilarious.
