Ya, I don't like that name either. Not very dignified. And she had a proud expression.

This is Izzy. Izzy is a puppy. We found her wondering down the middle of a busy road, about to get run over. We managed to get her off the road safely. She has been with us for a while now, close to four months. She is very friendly and has never met a person she does not like. We think she might be slightly deaf.

We now have 7 dogs. Four have come from the shelter and three have been strays we have found. We live in the country on two acres, so they have plenty of room to run around.

Awesome, GE. I'm not in a position to have any dogs/cats now, but when the time comes I will definitely be rescuing. I do have a few types of dogs that I would love to have that would more then likely never be found in a local rescue, but there are just too many damn dogs that need a home to be picky, if you ask me.

7? That's absolutely amazing. Are they all indoor or outdoor dogs? With my family, the dog practically sits at the dining table so 7 might be an issue.

I've rescued one, Spike. He's almost 12 now, Beagle/Basenji mix we adopted from the Humane Society. Nice little dog, somewhat quirky, but has been a good family dog over the years..

I always wanted a Lab, but didn't want to pay $1000 for one, so when I got a second dog, compromised and bought a Lab/Husky mix for $300. Beautiful Dog, Comet. He's five now, smart as hell and trained to perfection. Almost gave him away several times, though, cuz he has aggressive tendencies he can't seem to shake....Also dissapointed he's not very Lablike. Won't retrieve anything or go in the water...

Now, we are set to pick up a real Lab this week. No more compromises, I shelled out thecash for what I want. Daisy is 7 weeks old, the one on the right.

All 7 dogs stay inside at night. The little ones (rat terrier and beagle/rat terrier mix) stay inside most of the time while the German Shepard wants to be outside pretty much all of the time. We only bring him in so our neighbors don't complain if he barks at night. The others split their time between outside and inside. I have one pit bull/ jack russell mix that can jump over a 6 feet tall fence. Luckily she is the best behaved dog we have and does not run off.

Dola,
how much trouble does she have getting around and generally in day to day stuff? Ie, has she adapted or was the leg lost recently?

I think she lost it quite awhile ago. Supposedly she was at the shelter for over a year and she was missing the leg when they picked her up. As far as her mobility is concerned, she walks pretty well. Kind of a hop, but when I walk her she does have good pull when she sees another animal she'll try to drag me down the street. She does have some balance issues, I.e. if you are petting her and stop, she'll paw at you to continue and she might get a little off balance.

Looked it up, they're about a couple hundred dollars, but since her amputation is at the hip, it would be really hard to attach a comfortable prosthetic.

Right now, she's moving well and we just need to make sure she gets her daily exercise and stays at her current weight since extra weight can cause strain on her other legs.

Hayley found her home, so awesome.

My cousin does agility competitions with her three legged dog, it's amazing how well they can adapt. And of course, a dog's attitude is always so positive, they're not pissed at the world over it, they're just happy have a sofa to sleep on and a caring owner.

This is Buster, a 60 pound 6 month old puppy. He is a Great Pyrenees and will grow to be about 140 pounds. Not sure what we were thinking but we love him.

So I wake up this morning to a wretched stench in my kitchen where the dogs crate is. He had thrown up all in his crate and under the carpet mat we have in there for him. As if that wasn't gross enough there were several 2 inch long worms that looked like pasta. Yeah, was a very unpleasant start to the morning.

Taking him to the vet this afternoon.

Yup, our Lab had worms in the first year or so. Vet took care of it after a couple treatments. Not had that problem since.

We got a dog today, but apparently FOFC doesn't want me to upload the picture. Keeps saying "upload failed."

You'll have to use your imagination, but he's half Maltese, half Bichon Frise, and entirely adorable. Just over a year old.

Kittens are awesome too! The two on the left look very curious but I love the look in the eyes of the one on the right. "Really, you're taking my picture, boring"

My wife had them as a kid. I agree they are a riot. He is wired for sound as a puppy. He comes back from a walk and sprints laps around our house. He ran up the wall the other day. Crazy dogs.

No. I did not want another dog. My wife and I are within 10 years of retirement and I want to travel. I suggested Otis in reference to the town drunk from Mayberry. Just to have a laugh.

They are relatively purebred 7-week old siamese sisters (named Toothpaste & Dumptruck). I got them off Craigslist, and I told my buddy that we could just as easily end up chained to a radiator in a basement when we were going to pick them up, and wouldn't you know it involved pulling up to a massive ramshackle compound with like 6 dogs barking and 50 no trespassing signs and a 6ft tall gate with an intercom...I was also afraid I was going to have to stomach hours of some middle aged ladies nonsense, but instead some Eastern European lady just appears out of the woods of this compound and stuffs two kittens in my arms, I give her an envelope of cash, and we were gone two minutes later.....but at least we never got a bomb strapped to us or whatever, and they seem totally healthy (knock on particle board).

I would've gladly gone with a rescue and was particularly skeptical of craigslist cat swappers before I got these babies, but I wanted to particularly get two bonded kittens so that they'd be guaranteed to entertain eachother, and I stumbeld an ad on Craigslist for these adorable little sisters just an hour after it was placed a couple days ago, and they weren't that much more expensive than a couple of rescue kittens (with no promise they'll be bonded).

They are certainly cute Sloppy. Looks like from the pictures at least, they are bonding well. Especially given that story of where you got them from, I'd take them to the vet sooner rather than later if you haven't already of course. Good luck with them!
