Ping: Women who have kids or guys with kids
Did any of the ladies or any of the guys wives use any exercise/ yoga tapes while you/ your wives were pregnant?
My wife is in good shape and wants to stay that way and has heard there are some good work out tapes. Thanks for the feedback. |

I don't think my wife used any tape, but she did keep going to Yoga class and it was very helpful. At least for one of my sons I know she went to a prenatal yoga class, which was great for not only having things modified for her, but getting know other moms who were going to be giving birth soon.

One thing I noticed based on my wife, her friends, and my co-workers all getting pregnant over the last 2-3 years: each woman's body reacts very differently. Some women were knocked out by the pregnancy for almost the entire 9 months. Others were at work up until the day before labor. Some gained a lot of weight. Others did not. Some had trouble losing the weight. Others did not.
Basically, exercise and good diet are never bad things to do. But I think that your wife's body is going to do what it does with very little regard for what she tries to force it to do. So, IMHO, she should just try and enjoy the ride and not worry too much if things don't go 100% like she wants them to. Congrats on the pregnancy, BTW. |

My wife walked a lot, around 1 hour per day, and it helped to keep the weight gain under control. Also in the pregnacy course she learned some stretching exercises from yoga and did them from time to time to prevent pain in the back, that is the most usual pain in pregnant women because the extra weight from the growing belly and breasts.

My wife continued to do yoga after advice from her doc (i.e. what to do and what not to do) and after informing the instructor. She said it helped. I would recommend NOT practicing alone, in case something goes wrong.

To clarify - your wife should not be practicing Yoga alone. You, as an expectant father, are expected to practice alone almost exclusively during the later months of the pregnancy. And by later months I mean the last 3 before and first 6 after delivery.

dola- I think I was to vague in my original post, several beers will do that.
I'm not asking IF she should do yoga, etc.. I was asking if anyone has any suggestions on specific tapes, books, etc...their wives used. Sorry and thanks. |
