News Year in Review (CNN)
There's a poll ranking the top 10 news stories for the year and there are the usual stupid ass stuff on there like Martha Stewart, Michael Jackson, Terry Schiavo, etc. You pick 10 of their 20 stories, yet none of the really dumb ones made it in the top 10. I kindof have some faith restored in people and their ability to care about stuff. There really is a lot to the theory that stupid people who run news companies are the ones "making" the news. That's not to say there aren't stupid people watching the news for that sort of stuff, but a lot of people aren't and even more think it's just plain dumb and useless. Here's the list (with 160Kish votes counted):
Katrina Tsunami aftermath Pope dies London bombings South Asia quakes Gaza withdrawl Saddam Hussein trial Jordan hotel bombing Iraq elections Inauguration Day SI

Which lasts until the point you realize that the ones voting in an online poll are at best a small subgroup of the total audience. This buzzkill sponsored by the Jessica Alba bolt-on thread
