Negotiating Contracts

What % can you usually shave off their asking price and still get them to sign?

i've noticed you can usually take 1 million off the bonus and then progessively shave off 1 to 2 million in the later years of the contract and they will still sign. this doesn't work though if they are asking for a small bonus, like in the 100,000-2 mil range.

I have noticed that it's different with every guy.. :/

With some, they'll really go a lot lower, and others won't take off a penny. So there's no one method that works.

Since I can't really be bothered most of the time I just press the button on whatever they've asked for, but I know I'm getting ripped off sometimes.

It really only becomes an issue when you have a star player who wants a lot of money, like a QB or DE. You'll get so much money tied up in a star QB that you have to be real careful with everything else..

But in answer to the original question, at least on the highest setting, each guy seems to be different.
