Steve Philips Fired As GM of the Mets
http://espn.go.com/mlb/news/2003/0612/1566963.html
In the most obvious move in the world... The question is, if you were GM of the Mets, what would you do to get this team back on track? First things first (for me) is to get rid of Mo Vaughn somehow... bury him in Giants stadium, throw him in the Hudson, ANYTHING! Convince Piazza to play 1st, and trade of Benitez for some good prospects, and shop Alomar around as well. And of course, beg the Orioles to give Melvin Mora back (I know, no chance in Hell... but who knows ). |

I hate the Mets so much I was hoping they would keep Philips forever.

I never did understand the Vaughn deal.
From what I've seen, Alomar is good as gone, just remains to be seen to who. Looks like a rebuilding project at Shea.

And should be. If I'm correct, the farm system is devestated. Outside of a few good prospects (Reyes and Heilman) they have basically no one down there.

The Glavine deal is another strange one, thats another one they will end up eating, maybe the Yankees need more pitching!

Hey, someone in New York was destined to get fired after the no-hitter, right?

Well after Steinbrenner blows a gasket, I wouldn't suprised if they decided to trade for every single pitcher with a winning record in the league .
