Paying out of state tuition at UW has screwed me out of playing this year.

24 events will be streamed live online this year. 12 events will be on bluffmagazine.com and 12 events will be on ESPN360.com.
ESPN360.com and Bluffmagazine.com announce online coverage of 24 2009 WSOP events - ESPN ESPN TV coverage will only cover three preliminary events, with the vast majority of the coverage going towards the Main Event. |

Great first day for Chris Moneymaker in the 40K, who finds himself 2nd in chips with 89 remaining.
He is clearly out to prove all of us wrong who passed him over in the WSOP 2009 picks thread. |

That's awesome. I've always liked Chris and never understood why he gets so much shit from poker players. I mean, I could understand if he was a self-centered prick, but he's a humble guy that does alot for Poker. But still, I wouldn't have picked him because he doesn't enter enough WSOP events.

Just wondering but am I the only person for whom the four months of downtime before the main event has really killed enthusiasm?

It's actually just 4 months before the final table, but no. I likes it the old way but ratings for the final table were WAY higher then in the past so it isn't going anywhere. |

I'm most annoyed by this. I must've been the only one who liked seeing final table coverage of a variety of events - hold 'em or not. I still think the '04 Razz final table was some of ESPN's finest work. Don't get me wrong, I like the ME, but 26 or whatever hours of it is pushing me really, really hard. I'll probably pop in for the day 1 coverage, then tune out until just before the final table. |

I agree with you, and I'd love to see more like 7 Stud HiLo, Razz, etc. But I doubt the casual TV poker fan feels the same way. Seeing if someone can catch that low flush card to scoop is not as exciting for most people as watching someone move all in on a stone cold bluff. However, I wish they would show some early rounds of one of the rebuy events. I think that would be alot of fun.

Moneymaker took a little hit, but came back and knocked off Esfandiari and is still sitting 5th, with 62 remaining.

On the topic of former WSOP ME champs, Greg Raymer is having himself quite the second day.
Down to 39 players (27 pay) and Raymer is at 1.6 million chips, 400K ahead of the next closest competitor. |

With Ted Forrest lurking.
I'm wondering what the reaction will be if/when ZeeJustin wins a bracelet? Has enough time passed for him to achieve some level of forgiveness for the multi-accounting stuff? |

The short answer: It's already happened. It happened when ESPN discussed it last year when he was at one of the FT, and the players were treating him with respect.
If there was any doubt, the "All Strategy" show on PokerRoad with Daniel Negreanu, Bonomo, and Scott Huff put an end to it. It would've lasted longer had he been the only one doing it, and if it hadn't already been rampant in online poker at the time. Last edited by Comey : 05-30-2009 at 10:13 AM. |

That's not possible. All rebuy events have been removed from this year's World Series. The pro committee felt bankroll was allowing players to buy a bracelet and casual players who bought in for $1500-2000 felt shafted when their stacks were overwhelmed by the multiple buy-ins. I heard Negraneau and Letterer talking about it and they made some very good points. I'm personally glad they're gone. |

casual players shouldn't buy into that event then. In todays internet age everyone knows what the first few rounds of a rebuy are like. Nothing cracks me up more then when I play in a rebuy tourny online and someone at the table freaks out and gets all critical of peoples play. |

The pro committee was the ones that made that call. They weren't any more excited about them than the casual player. Negraneau's tourney a year or two ago was a perfect example. He had so many rebuys that he had to finish 4th or 5th just to break even. I think he just barely finished ahead of that. He voted for removal of the rebuy tourneys in the committee vote. |

My best payday came in the $3R -- I bought in, bought a rebuy before the first hand and bought the add-on. That was it -- ended up cutting a deal at the final table -- I think it was a four-way split. I've moneyed a few more times. I don't play them like the nut jobs do -- I might rebuy once or twice but I just try and wait for good hands and then take out the nut jobs who go all in with J7o when the flop comes AQ7 and I've hit trips or two pair. But I have no idea why a casual player would enter a professional rebuy tournament. That's just nuts. |

exactly, the fact that the pro committee made that recomendation means squat. Unless you have an uber deep bankroll you shouldn't be playing in that tournament.

But you've hit on the exact reason why it was done away with in this case. Those tournaments are a test of bankroll, moreso than skill. Bracelets should not be awarded in events like that. As an aside, really happy to see Greg Raymer do so well in the $40K tourney. I've had the pleasure of hanging out with him a few times. Really smart and nice guy who remains very grounded despite his sudden fame. Last edited by Mizzou B-ball fan : 06-01-2009 at 08:29 AM. |

How impressive is the Omaha Eight-or-Better champion? 2nd in '07, now back-to-back champ. Amazing.

so it looks like this site works if you can't get 360
hxxp:wsop.pkr.com you need to register but it took seconds. I am waiting for the feed to start, it says it is delayed but I am assuming thats because the actual final table hasn't begun. |

Ivey said diff between 2nd and 1st for him is close to 3 million in response to monette's question live at the table just a moment ago. That is significantly less than most speculate.
