Hard drive backup question: Firefox favorites

My computer went nuts and I'm getting stuff off of the hard drive by listing it as an external into another machine.

Anyway, how would I locate my Firefox favorites in the Firefox folder inside of Program Files?

Is this possible?

Is there another way to get these favs?

Which operating system are you running? It's in your User folder, not in program files. That folder depends on your OS.

I'm using XP on the machine I'm copying things to but I was using Vista on the "bad" machine who's HD I'm copying stuff from.

Subby, I see neiher a "Application Data" nor a "Profiles" folder.

SECOND QUESTION: Where do I get my Outlook contacts, mailing lists from? I have a bunch!

Make sure you don't have system files and folders hidden.

Ugh, I can't find these and Yahoo search isn't much help.

I really need my contacts and email folders from Outlook. If the hard drive I have these stored on working as an external, where are these files literally in the folder heirarchy?

Any Subby, I'm not sure how to show hidden files.

My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View...

Click "Show Hidden Files and Folders"

Ok, got it now thanks to viewing the hidden files.

What file do I need? Do I just then import it into Firefox?

No idea on Outlook, but you can just copy the entire xxx.default folder for Firefox into the proper place on the new computer.
