24: Season 8 Thread
I was somewhat surprised to not see a thread yet, but then I remember the last season thread and people were pretty negative on the show, heh.
Tonight is the second half of the season premiere, and I have to say I enjoyed last nights first half. I like a lot of the new characters (although I can already tell a couple are going to annoy me) and I think there is something different about Jack that is nice - not sure what it is yet though. Who knows if it will be the last season, but I have been an avid watcher since day #1, so I will go down with the ship if I have to

I tuned in for the first time in like...maybe...5-6 years last night (I dropped it during the "nuclear bomb in LA" season pretty quick), and I was entertained. I'll be throwing it on the dvr, at least for a lil bit. Man Monday nights are super-crowded on the DVR
cbs shows chuck 24 oh that's right...same problem i've had - can't dvr all of those at once. *dies*

Not thrilled so far. The blond chic that's Chico's son's girlfriend seems like is going to have an annoying story line. The CTU head guy is a little too rigid.

The new NY City CTU bugged the crap out of me last night. Glass topped desks with the monitor mounted underneath? Seriously? Bad ergonomics, and the glare from all the track lighting in that place would drive anyone insane! Then making Chloe seem "behind the times" seemed lame too... Anyhoo, I'll be watching every episode like I always do since it's such a fun show...

I normally like the show for the first 1/3 of the season, then complain about it for the remaining 2/3. Yet, somehow manage to forget that during the 7-8 months before the next season starts again. It is like a mild form of an abusive relationship.

+1 Giving it a chance again but I think I have only watched it all the way through during 2 seasons. I can see some potential entertainment from this season but as someone already said I can also see some things that are going to annoy me. |

the number of times there's a "mole inside CTU" I wouldn't trust the organization to watch my fucking laundry, let alone anything involving people's lives...

Wow. Um...yeah. That was pretty crazy. Like my wife said, "She has fucking lost it!". Then she made a good point, "We've seen Jack do it enough times - they are made for each other!". Great first 4 hours, getting a little annoyed at the blonde chick - I imagine her whole past will tie in with things, but it's seemingly overdone already. Either way, so far so good...

I guess the boyfriend got his info from the guy at CTU who wants to date her. I bet that CTU guy is a mole and is apart of a greater conspiracy and he uses this info(her having a stolen identity) to make her do something she doesn't want to do.

This part annoys me. I want to fast-forward to a better part than watch this Greg Evigan wannabe get all "beat'er-up rednecky" on a whimpering little girl who is now posing as a badass bitch. I hope she just kills him & we can move on. |

Anyone else still watching?
Finally caught up after DVR'ing the episodes. Very mixed feelings about the season but that seems to be par for the course for this show. |

The plot with the woman + Freddy Prinz is terrible and I want it to go away. Other than that, show has been pretty good if formulaic by 24 standards.

You could never enjoy the show if you couldn't suspend reality or prevent yourself from rolling your eyes at basically everything. But after seeing the same storylines recycled over and over again, and the same basic formula of bad guy -> bigger bad guy -> biggest bad guy...and then add in the worst possible side story ever with the annoying blonde chick. Not to mention all that crap that went down with the young terrorist-to-be in the hospital. Basically, I just couldn't enjoy it anymore. |

Understandable Sucks because I like the action when it happens but I can't get myself past how far beyond reality and logic it goes. This is around the time that I have stopped watching every year (only started watching around the 4th season). It's getting close to that point again to be honest. I wish that Andy Reid could adapt his game plan as quickly and efficiently as these terrorists are... |

Are you freaking serious? Just watched today's DVR'd episode and I think they have finally pushed me over the edge.
It just went from annoying as hell side story to yet another are you freaking kidding me moment. |

Well, at least we now know how a two bit criminal got a new identity and a job with CTU. I'm actually glad that her story line had a real tie in with the primary plot!

I said I was done with the show, but since I'm traveling this work and hotel viewing options are pretty limited, I put last night's episode on and paid half attention.
I turned it off when Chloe pulled a gun on that NSA dude and turned on the women's tournament. I wish I was kidding. Looks like something ridiculous happened with that Dana Walsh storyline. Didn't think it could get any worse. |

Not even sure what to say...
Last night's episodes were actually decent. Not quite sure where they can really go from here? It seems like this season was written with it already being the last season in mind. Still there are SOOOOOO many issues that I have with the storyline this season that I wouldn't even know where to begin... |

At least the last few hours may be relatively entertaining as long as I can make the logical side of my brain shut down while watching it. |

Well, only 2 hours left...Jack has gone pretty much bat-shit crazy and lord only knows what is going to happen in the final two hours. I have enjoyed this season and while I understand that all good things need to come to an end, I will definitely miss this show. I know they have had issues coming up with decent plotlines over the last few seasons, but it's definitely had a great run.

I thought about bumping this yesterday when I got caught up on Monday's episode. I know I said I was done a second time back in March but once the show was getting axed, I felt an obligation to pick it back up.
Really glad I did as it's gotten much more interesting in recent weeks, almost a complete 180 from the earlier episodes. Too bad they fucked up the first half so much. As badass as Jack is, I really wish they didn't turn him into a guy who kills people who've done nothing wrong like those Russian guards in the last episode. |

Very true, Jack pretty much went from being lawful good to chaotic good. But those guys are bad guys because they technically attacked the USA. They are on the wrong team, they are collateral damage because of the team they are on.

I really think it picked up when Charles Logan returned. He's probably my favorite character in the whole series.

I guess Logan never learns that when Jack leaves him alive he also leaves him bugged.
Glad the season has picked up the past few weeks. I hope we are done with "plot twists" at this point and it just plays out from here. So what do we think? Jack dies in a hail of bullets (doubtful), we se Jack get shot at the end, or collapse, and don't know what actually happens to him, he somehow sneaks away or he is captured? |

Definitely cheered and laughed at this as well I thought Logan might put up SOME of a fight, but then I realized who I was talking about and thought it made perfect sense, heh. My wife was a little irritated at how much of a rampage Jack has gone on too, but it's not like he is killing innocent people (read: Americans) - sure he was shooting up that tunnel, but he wasn't shooting to kill anyone. And he didn't seriously injure any of the Secret Service people. After the shit he has gone through not only today, but over the years, it's amazing we haven't seen him lose it before.

I had never watched 24 prior to earlier this month. With all of the past episodes on netflix, I started watching from season 1 and actually fell in love with this show. I think I missed this as one of the shows that started up around the 2002-2003 time frame when I went through a divorce and didn't watch much tv for a while.
Anyways, after 20 days or so, I completely caught up with the series in time for last night's finale. As far as series finales go, this one really was enjoyable I thought. The final scene between Chloe and Jack was outstanding in my opinion. Yes, the show was a little hokey with as it pretty much used the same script every season: Nuclear bomb threat -> CTU gets infiltrated -> Jack does something to get hunted by the government himself -> Everything ends up working out at the end of each season. It ended up being my type of hokey tv show though, very enjoyable! |

On the commercials I was hearing on the radio yesterday, they made it sound like Jack was going to shoot Chloe. Did he? What happened to Jack at the end?

Glad you tuned in just in time, Alan
A very great finale to a very great show. I know they've already confirmed the movie and such, but that was a very fitting ending to a fantastic series. God speed, Jack Bauer, indeed.
