I haven't been around long enough to be voting for the trout option in polls.

You know what will be good?
Every time someone makes a pick, I have to edit the original post to update the draft. By my count, that's 120 picks. Meaning 120 edits. Meaning 120 chances for me to press the wrong button, delete the post, and wipe the entire thread. Now keeping in mind that I am an extremely stupid person... well, the odds are not in our favor. |

Mckerney getting reported in that thread is the funniest thing I've seen in a thread since the whole FOF/.400 war was going on a couple months ago.

Is it in-fighting? It appears to be people from outside the event itself (the draft) doing their best to spoil any sense of drama, creativity, or preperation by the participants - then becoming shocked when it annoys people.

I find that its more fun to have people shout things out and to be unprepared... it allows for those moments where you're just thinking and saying "this is a guy I think I could get late" and then saying "dammit" I was hoping I could sneak him in.
Sort of like Pitfall HArry sneaking in late... planning out a list would take all the fun out of it. |

none, I saw it starting up and didn't feel like playing... so my opinion is completely invalid because I didn't want to take part in it? I actually wanted to make comments on it to say how good some picks were, but seeing all the snippiness from any comment, I decided not to.

I had no problem with people commenting on picks that were made - That is fun and interesting to listen to
Commenting on characters that you think are getting snubbed, not getting picked or haven't gotten picked yet - Not fun. Last edited by Ramzavail : 01-28-2004 at 12:45 AM. Reason: or haven't gotten picked yet |

i have no idea what any of you are talking about. the fact that there is a thread dedicated to the drafting of video game characters is simply...the nerdiest thing ive ever seen.

I can't believe I actually stayed up to read that thread to see what all the fuss was about. I'm going to regret missing that 10 minutes of sleep tomorrow.

Ethel, will you stop spoiling my episodes of matlock. Oh, Edith, stop being a sour puss.
I prefer as many comments as possible after the picks have been made, but not the revealing of characters before they're picked. That said, I hope no one is taking the thing too seriously. |

Hehe, this is very true. I don't consider the draft itself overly "nerdy" compared to most of what goes on here. Lets face it, every one here has a bit 'o nerd in them or they wouldn't be here. The bickering does push us over the edge though I'm afraid. That's just a small portion of the folks participating though. |

But I guess the football and baseball all-time drafts are inherently winnable? The bottom line is, no one would jump in and act like suck jerks in those threads - yet they find it perfectly acceptable to do so in the video game character thread. If no one cares, so be it. But my respect for every jackass who has ignored the pleading of the participants is out the window. |

No, but you don't see a bunch of brats screaming murder when someone brings up that so and so hasn't been picked up yet. I suppose that video game drafts are much more important though. Poopiehead.

You also don't see brats in there repeatedly bringing up players who are not yet drafted - even after multiple partipants have politely asked them not to do so. |

These videogame threads are some of the funniest, (and yes nerdiest) things I have come across in a very long time.

It wasn't a few in our thread. A couple people posted name after name, even after multiple particpants asked them not to. Now in that scenario, who's acting immature? The participant or the jackass doing his best to anger those involved? |

I think you are missing the point that is you are an adult, I assume, and it is a video game character draft on a message board. If you are that upset the some people are listing characters, ask everyone to vow not to look at the posts of the offenders to preserve the sanctity of your precious draft. Perhaps a suicide pact would be sufficient to ensure that no one cheats...

A better idea would be for everyone that is envolved in the draft to put everyone who isn't on their ignore list. Ask that they read no websites, newspapers, etc, that involving gaming as to ensure that no one given an unfair advantage in a unwinnable draft for fun...

And through the course of all of this, the defenders of the annoying fail to think that people incessantly naming characters may decrease the amount of fun those involved are having. The draft is a silly exercise, but I don't think it's below asking for a basic level of respect and restraint from those who've already been asked once (or more) to keep it to themselves. |

The draft is a silly exercise, and I think it is great that there is lots of input and discussion over such a silly topic. I think most people can take a few jabs without crying like this. Maybe I am wrong.

Wig brings up a great point. Do you want your draft to reward those with the best memory? I would assume a draft would be more fun when everyone knew who was being drafted... Oh wait, that would take away your ability to win. I thought it was all for fun... Me stupid.

I was going to suggest that they get combined, because its too hard to keep up with the all the crap going on in both. For the next draft, I recommend a number draft. 10 Rounds, 12 participants, any number is available for drafting. But I really do not want to see anyone posting numbers that haven't been picked yet.

For our next adventure in drafting, we are going to have:
