Just wait until next year, Kobyashi will top 75 dogs. Write it down.

Jeez, one of the records is 7 quarter-pound sticks of butter in 5 minutes. That's disgusting.

I missed this, but I did catch some of the "controversy" about Kobayashi throwing up (and eating it), which is supposed to be an automatic DQ. Not that it mattered in the end, but...that's fucking HARDCORE.

It was awesome to watch. Wife turned away from the TV. I think he should get double credit for eating the same hot dog twice rather than being disqualified.

I don't think he threw up. It looked like to me that he just spit out what he had in his mouth.

12,540 calories in those 66 hotdogs. How do you get rid of that?

Two questions

1) What is the difference between the long course and the regular course?

2) How does a guy act after your girlfriend/wife eats 8.4 pounds of baked beans?

I think that the long course is actually pork and beans and the other record is just straight beans. I think I read that in an article yesterday when tracking down this link, but don't hold me to it.

The great part about that was the color commentary. Evidently there's a technical term for that. The commentator screamed, "Oh! It looks like we may have a 'reversal!' ".

Reversal? Classic.

I don't take any of these seriously because they don't include the old negro league records.

How long until we get these two in an unsanctioned cage match?

Joey Chestnut wins fourth straight Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest; Takeru Kobayashi taken into custody - ESPN New York

NEW YORK -- Competitive eater Joey Chestnut has held on to his title at the annual July Fourth hot dog eating contest at New York's Coney Island, but one of his biggest rivals tried to crash the celebration and has been taken into custody.

Chestnut chomped down on 54 hot dogs in 10 minutes on Sunday to win the annual Nathan's International Hot Dog Eating Contest for the fourth year in a row.

Watching from the crowd was six-time champion Takeru Kobayashi who has not signed a contract with Major League Eating to be free to compete in contests sanctioned by other groups.

But Kobayashi went on stage after the competition. Police officers grabbed him, and he tried to hold onto police barricades as they took him into custody.

I'm not sure that the MLE is taking this feud seriously. A skinny little Japanese guy as the insane heel? Please. If at Chestnut's next event they show a video montage of Kobayashi stalking Chestnut's wife, I'm bailing.

Yeah, apparently they basically add their logo & administer nearly a hundred different competitions a year, including both Nathan's, Krystal's and Pizza Hut's.

What I'm more shocked to discover is that they have a branded video game on Wii.

I cant believe more people dont have a shitfit about this competition. Basically wasting pounds of food while people are starving.

Its always seemed like a big waste of food to me and I cant figure out why people give a shit about who can eat 70 dogs in 10 minutes.

Why give a shit about any professional sport? They provide no benefit except entertainment.

Is being entertained bad? Apparently people do get entertained by people doing purposely unhealthy things to themselves. Its just not a form of entertainment that I care about.

Countries are taking measures to promote healthier eating while showing this event which has to be one of the most unhealthy events one could ever dream of.

Its all perspective I guess. People throw a fit when Michael Vick is killing animals for no reason while killing pigs for no reason is a great form of entertainment in some peoples eyes.

In my opinion it is a huge waste and I have no reason to further continue talking about it as its all about perspective and opinion.

Trust me guys, there are many more pounds of food being wasted everyday at homes and restaurants across the nation than are used at any of these eating events.

This calls for a four Horsemen style attack, complete with baseball bat to the jaw, which will eventuall lead to an all you can eat Oysters match in a steel cage.

I need to start booking these contests!

Agreed. They had a clip of it on the local news and the anchors talked about how the one just couldn't stand it every year when they have to run the same story; she just finds it completely gross. The male anchor more or less concurred. As did I.
