New OOTP online league
Trying to gauge interest in forming a new MP league. It will be much in the vein of the long running RWBL.
We will use the new version of out of the park. Real teams and players. Most likely default rosters Tentative sim pattern 15 days per Sim. 3 sims per week All former RWBL owners are encouraged to join. As well as anyone else Aiming for a mid to late June start. A few teams have been tentatively claimed. I dunno if we can catch lightning in a bottle twice. But it is worth a shot. Finances will be adjusted most likely. Not a true salary cap though. Anyways if you want to get in on the ground floor post interest in this thread Denote which 2 to 3 teams you'd accept. If anyone has some surplus web space that would be great. Also looking for someone interested in leadership roles. This will be our league, not my league. Please register at www.rwbl.net/forum If you haven't moved over there yet, please do so promptly. I would be interested. I've been looking around lately for a solid league to join. Teams I'd be interested in are the Mets, Rays, Indians.

1. Rangers 2. Astros 3. Whatever I have a ton of web space available for any potential league. I'm assuming this will be OOTP 10?

Obviously, I'd be the Tigers....but would it be the new game? I don't want to buy it.

Yeah. It would be the new game. I figure give it a few weeks till the obvious bugs are crushed and then go from there

I'm either going to be the Phils Yanks or Pirates. There will be some sort of revenue type sharing most likely. Basically at its simplistic form it will most likely be a payroll tax kicking in at 100M, and dollar for dollar by 150M Also a salary floor. But we will have to look at the in game financials to be certain.

Well, set aside the Tigers for me if you can. I'll get the game as soon as it looks like the league will actually happen. I really missed the RWBL.

Put me down as Padres first choice instead of Brewers... I'd like a rebuilding team.... and the chance to have the virtual Jake Peavey sweepstakes

Getting the band back together is the only thing that would tempt me to get the new version of OOTP. In honor of the RWBL I guess I should put the Rays and Twins on my list but I'll take KC if Bug passes.
Sean, tell me if this isn't a great story: http://www.post-journal.com/page/con....html?nav=5013 Last edited by kcchief19 : 05-24-2009 at 11:18 PM. |

When it comes to real players, I have a tough time throwing my hat in for anybody but the Dodgers, but it seems I'm a bit late to that game.
I'm not sadistic enough to take San Francisco just to destroy them from within, and I'm not mentally fucked up enough to take an AL team. What's left? |

If someone ran a particular squad in the RWBL I will be giving them first option. I will start trying to couple together a teams and owners list later this evening.

I'd just like to be in an OOTP league where I'm not perennially hamstrung by being in the bottom 3 of revenue every season.

Sigh. If I break down and join (and I'm trying hard not to right now, don't really want another league, but I'm weak) I'm sure I can fix that problem for the Red Sox in a few short seasons...

The Blue Jays are still my #1 choice, so i would still like them if sean doesn't join, but in the mean time, you could pencil me in with the Cardinals

I'm not even sure how a revenue thing would totally be implemented, but if it's anything it's going to be a "use it or lose it" type dispersment. No banking cash. If the Pirates generate 60m in spendable reserves, the top teams would be augmenting them so their payroll can increase. It's not going to be where the Pirates make 60m, spend 40m, bank 20m of their own money, and then bank(for example) a 15m revenue sharing check.
And it's a gradual season or two thing, since there's not a lot you can do about the initial contracts. Since we are using opening day rosters, I will attempt to fix the draft properly for the first june(with comp picks for type A's if possible). Essentially at least the attempt would be to get all teams to a league average revenue based on the previous season(or at least augment them somewhat to adjust for market-size). Sorry I hadn't posted earlier, had strep throat the last week and was totally suckage. Anyway I don't have to have the Dodgers, I'd take a small market team like the Royals or something if someone else really wants the Dodgers. |

I'm not that good at design type work, but as I mentioned earlier, I have a ton of web space and bandwidth available. I have both Microsoft and Linux, so we wouldn't be tied to a particular architecture.

What kind of rules are you thinking about? Never was a fan of the ever-growing list of "house rules" part of online leagues.
I had a few time commitment issues in the past, but am able to give it a good run now. If you end up needing an extra owner, I will step up and take any team that nobody else wants. |
