are we going to see a demo at any point in the future (aka this week) Shaun? Cuz I am leaning towards buying but on the fence a tiny bit still, and a demo would push me.

Pumpy buy it now. Shaun has said associations with 1.0 will be able to be expanded in 1.1. And it really is a good game.

(oh that reminds me.. time to go make the Impressions thread!)

THAT'S what I was waiting for. Thanks! I'm going to start in 1982, the year I became a Cardinals fan. This'll be fun!

Unless you can't live without expansion, the game is done and there will probably be bugs we didn't find in beta, but I can't imagine they will be huge. Amaroq is an animal.

Yeah, I can live without expansion. Heck, even though I'm starting in 1982, I might not even care about expanding when the Marlins and Rockies are supposed to come in. It might be kinda cool to see how things turn out with fewer teams and the old divisional setup.

Yeah, I've started a few leagues in the 1970's and 1980's to watch all my childhood favorites.

No worries, you will be able to make an association "Expansion Compatible" via the options dialog on PS 2007 v1.1 when it arrives, so feel free to start cranking your association up in v1.0.

How does the importing of "rookies" each year from Lahman work? Can you choose to put them on their original teams, or put them in a draft, or both?

I believe user-created files are available on Matrix's site.. Not sure I am a registered user (I got a free copy for being a beta tester), so I can't check at the moment.

Do they automatically import? I'm just wondering if it's like OOTP, where you decide every year whether to use real players.

Also, even though it's an update away, how will the expansion rosters be filled out? I remember detailing for everyone how I did it inOOTP, which was to manually go through each team's roster and weed out crap vets to place on the expansion team's roster. I hhope someone has come up witha system similar to the FOF system, where we have to protect players and the computer selects players off of the rosters.

Cool! Thanks. That's what I was hoping for. I'll be getting this game at some point. For the sake of my family, it should probably wait until after I've taken the Kentucky Bar, though. Sorry Shaun!

I don't think you get to pick every year. There is an expansion draft, where you protect players and then the expansion teams draft.

This is how PureSim 2007 v1.1 will work when released. The computer can pick from all the other teams' unprotected players, with a limit on how many players can be pillaged from each team

Just a question, or maybe just to point it out so you aren't sued, but I wouldn't think that Matrix could use statements such as this without the MLB/MLBPA licenses:

Quote:
Ever wonder what it would have been like to see Nolan Ryan pitch against Babe Ruth? To see the 1947 Yankees play against the 2000 Yankees?

Confused on a couple of things here. I'm sure I'm missing something, so can anyone help me out:

1) how do you manually save in game?
2) where is the save template feature located?

The game is always in a "saved" state, unless you mean when managing a game -- which is not possible.

The save template feature is only available until you have played games in your association. So the typical flow is, create assn, do all edits, save as template, begin.

Hope that helps, and I hope you are enjoying the game.

Where is the save as template setting? I'm missing that somewhere.

I'm enjoying the game. Just figuring out all of the things you can do now.

Edit here, Ive created the association, I've just entered all of the team names. Haven't started the draft yet. Where is the save as template option at from here?

Oh and it comes up after you run the draft (to allow for letting associations that use the exact players in the template)

I have been playing OOTP since its second version. I decided to give PureSim a shot and just purchased the version. The expansion feature to come is what made the purchase for me. Since I cannot post in matrix forums (never received an activation email), I thought I would post here hoping Shaun would see. The "Attempt to Pichout" option when playing out a game causes PureSim to close the program.

Was this ever answered?

I just noticed the system requirements listing a 32 meg videocard requirement, which probably won't run on my outdated laptop since it's only a 16 meg SiS.

I figured it would be worth to give it a shot though.

Got it. Man, I feel stupid. I've been creating leagues in the sand box instead of just using the classic setup. No idea why. I was playing around with setting and just kept using it. Moronic move there.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm going to zip through a season and an offseason tonight before bed. Get some of the mechanics worked out and then get in depth tomorrow. I appreciate your help.

Nah, I just set up a league the wrong way. Had I been setting it up the correct way, I'd have seen it right there. I'm having a blast with this one so far. I'm looking forward to setting up a fictional league with logos and parks and starting up. If only I didn't have to work tomorrow.

I'm clicking the link. Forget the exact procedure but I think it was something like "More Options" - "Attempt to Pitchout". I can verify this in the everning after work. Time for me to go sit at a desk and write code for corporate America lol.
