Craig's List?
Has anyone ever tried out the 'for sale' section on Craig's List for their respective areas? Any good input, bad experiences? Specifically, I'm looking at the computer section (thinking about getting another laptop).

It's a good place to find hookers.
Or so I hear. |

I've had good experiences selling and buying bicycle parts on craigslist in DC. No spam, good follow-up, etc.
Don't know about your local version, though. /tk

Craigslist is great here in the bay area, too......for hookers....and everything else.....involving hooking...but also for buying and selling.............ass....
Okay, but it really is good for setting up sales between people like me and you.... .....and a bi-curious she-male whore.

When I spent the summer at Boston for my internship at the Globe, I found my apartment, a computer and such on craigslist. I know they work better in some cities versus others where it hasn't really "caught on" yet..but I think it's a pretty good system.

Just sold a car using Craig's list. I've also used it frequently to buy Southwest Frequent Flyer Vouchers.
My buddy hired his hook...errr....assisstant using it. |

Craigslist is pretty good, the main thing is that it just allows you to find stuff easier. You still have to use protection though.

That's what I'm talking about. More goods than services, so to speak. What's the deal with setting things up, though? Are you supposed to create an account there, to login and what not? Specifically for trying to sell old junk that's cluttering up space and the like. I noticed some had their actual e-mails listed, and others had some kind of anon-######@craigslist.org. I'd rather not post up a phone number or my actual e-mail if possible.

In DC, if you have a good or service to offer, you fill out a form.
There is no registration per se. You have to include your email on the form, but it anonymizes it for you (if you so check), so any direct emails to you from the potential buyer will get sent to the anon version of the address...the "customer" won't have any info on you unless you choose to respond to them. You are not at all required to give a phone number or sign up with a "login" or anything like that. At least, that's how it is in DC... /tk

Amazing - I used it to find an apartment, buy an x-box, sell some games, buy a bunch of books. Caveat emperor, but it usually works out.

I'll have to give this a shot. I had considered using the 'resume' section at the bottom, but there's something about publicly displaying your resume in this fashion that strikes me as being rather awkward. Not that it probably seems to be much more of a difference when done on CareerBuilder.com, etc...
