CL Rewards Top Defenders for 2206
Thursday, October 30th, 2206 "Ball hawk" is a good name for the members of the defensive elite, the players who make leather shine. The fielders who crashed the wall, leaped in the air, and dived in the hole better than any others during 2206 have been tabbed as the Continental League's Best Fielder Awards winners. Here are this year's best: Pitcher: Emílio Pérez (Cleveland Cyclones) Catcher: Pedro Garza (Napa Valley Winemakers) First Baseman: Kyle Price (Apex Assassins) Second Baseman: Yuichi Kitakawa (Apex Assassins) Third Baseman: Jesús Eilzando (Brooklyn Brownstones) Shortstop: John Somers (Brooklyn Brownstones) Left Fielder: William Dethwright (Leduc Bullets) Center Fielder: Marcel Gagnon (Baltimore Gothams) Right Fielder: Santiago Pérez (Napa Valley Winemakers) RL Names Best Fielder Awards Choices for 2206 Thursday, October 30th, 2206 What does it take to win a Best Fielder Awards? It's a combination of good hands, knowing how to play the hitters, all-out hustle and a willingness to sacrifice your body to make a play. Good speed and a good arm never hurt, either, but not always required. This year's all-defense team in the Republic League consists of: Pitcher: Noah Tremblay (Tokyo Catfish) Catcher: Domingo Hernández (Ann Arbor Winged Lingerines) First Baseman: Carlos Valadez (Colorado Rancheros) Second Baseman: Gabe Payton (Toronto Marlboros) Third Baseman: Matsu Kamihara (Omaha Bees) Shortstop: Stan Carter (Omaha Bees) Left Fielder: Tim Davis (Hartford Riverhawks) Center Fielder: Vincente Torres (Hartford Riverhawks) Right Fielder: Jean-Sébastien Deschamps (Hammersmith Hooligans)

I knew I had the cap space to do it. I frontloaded the deal a bit to pay when I could really afford it and then lighten it up at the back end to keep the rest of the roster competitive while carrying such a big salary. I also have a nice looking young pitcher about to hit the bigs, so adding Salas and the young pitcher (Hector Garza) will do wonders to my rotation. Lost out on my key offensive targets, though, so I still have lots of work to do. I find it funny that the other two big target pitchers Lebrun and Manuel combinned received like $114 M, which was only $7 M more than I offered Salas, lol.

I'm still learning the salary dynamics of this league but I was surprised that I was able to get Lebrun at less than 10 mil per. |

Note to self. When Cleveland has a Top 5 pick, spend freely on compensation players. (Seriously, I went through a stretch like that, too, and it sucked). This was one of the worst pitching drafts I have ever seen, and as an overall draft, also probably one of the worst.

If my GM skills were rated as if I was a hitter and every free agent I missed out on counted as a strikeout, I would be this year's Adam Dunn.

I hate striking out on FA MRs and have to patch at the end of ST.
