No more than 7 retired and that's only from players right, so 7 retired and 6 active?

Can I draft secretariat and then have one of my players ride around with a football in his hands as players try and tackle a horse?

Yes, but the only restrictions is against retired. You can have as many active as you want. So if you're in the last round and have 6 retired, 6 active, you can still draft an active.

Nice pick. When I was looking up possible QBs, I was impressed by how many sports Young excelled in before the pros.

7.8 Diego Maradona, Soccer, Retired.

He is always regarded as in the top two soccer players of all time and many consider him a better and more complete player than Pelé. Starting his runs deep in the midfield, he would weave past defenders and deliver dangerously precise passes or finish himself. His freekicks were also lethal and he rarely touched the ball with his right foot, except for balance. A magical left foot was all that took him to work his wizardry.

Should also be a very good kicker/punter, and can fill in at SS on my baseball team.

I have a list from Karlifornia, but I saw him here just a minute ago. I'll wait about 15 mins to see if he picks. If not, I'll use his list.

He has a pretty lethal left hand too.

7.10 - Jason Witten - Football - Active

Witten has great size at 6'5" 257 lbs so he can translate well to the defensive side of the ball in football and hold his own on the basketball court. I imagine he can crush a tiny little baseball as well.

8.1 - Alex Rodriguez - Baseball - Active - Will go down as one of the best players and hitters of all time. Athlete that was offered to play QB for Miami and could have succeeded at any sport he might have played.

This is a really cool idea for a draft. I have a good idea for a player and will be interesting to see if they get taken.

Biggest steal of the draft. I figured Crawford had first round talent and can't believe he slipped so far.

He was on the list I sent Larry in the 3rd round. I wanted him but I couldnt afford to take any more baseball OFs. In other words I completely agree it was a great pick

This is who I was talking about a few posts ago I obviously didn't see he got taken. Crawford is one of the better outfielders in the game today, plays incredible defense, will hit .290-.300 and steal over 50 bases. He was a top high school QB who I believe could have went to Nebraska but chose baseball instead.

Edit: Just found out he played basketball in high school as well and had a scholarship offered to go to UCLA to play point guard.
Quote:
Carl attended Jefferson Davis High School in Houston, Texas and was a letterman in football, basketball, and baseball. In baseball, he batted .638 as a senior. Crawford was offered scholarships to play basketball as a point guard at UCLA. He also had an option to play college football as an option quarterback at Nebraska, USC, Oklahoma, Florida, and Tulsa. He had originally signed a letter of intent to play football for Nebraska but he turned down both offers in favor of a baseball career.

Knowing nothing about baseball, I've been doing some searches on today's players to learn something. Crawford's name came up a lot in various top 10 lists for best baseball athletes.

Like so many other great tight ends this guy was a hoops player. I feel he could play a tackle position and a defensive end on my team as well as not be a liability in basketball and baseball because of his assumed hand eye coordination.

8.10 J.R. Richard, OMBE, Baseball, Retired

Before his stroke, Richard was tracking for the Hall of Fame - one of the most dominant pitchers in the NL.

James Rodney stood 6'8" and had over 200 scholarship offers to play basketball in college. He turned them down and was drafted second overall by the Astros in the 1969 ammy draft.

JR Richard would help his teams win a lot of games. If there's any justice, that's a really good pick for this game.

This guy is one the best pitchers in baseball and one of the best athletes at the pitcher position I have ever seen. I'm actually kind of surprised with all of the 7 foot sticks that were picked at the pitcher position that this guy would still be out there.

There is one retired player who I am amazed has not been taken yet. I won't describe him since that would be a dead giveaway.

nice. iker's nasty. it's too bad he's never won a yashin award. speaking of the yashin award...

9.7 Lev Yashin, Soccer, Retired

from wiki
Quote:
Lev Ivanovich Yashin (22 October 1929 – 20 March 1990) was a Russian-Soviet football goalkeeper, considered by many to be the greatest goalkeeper in the history of the game. He was known for his superior athleticism in goal, imposing stature, amazing reflex saves and inventing the idea of goalkeeper sweeping. Yashin was voted the best goalkeeper of the 20th century by the IFFHS.

..Yashin also played goalie for the Dynamo ice hockey team during those early years of trying to break into the senior squad. He managed to win a USSR ice hockey cup in 1953 and was third in the USSR hockey championship as goalkeeper.
the logic here is that he'd make a pretty swell catcher.

as a bonus, he played most of his games wearing a newsboy cap. which might make him the coolest athlete in the history of anything.
