Amazing OOTP World Series

I'm playing as the New York Giants and have reached the 1952 season. I would be going up against the St Louis Browns in the World Series and I knew it would be tough to get anything going against their superb pitching, even as we have as good as a pitching staff ourselves (with Seward, McGrath and Hutchinson). Little did I anticipate the results...

I looking at their two starters, they pitched 29.1 innings, gave up 4 ER on 9 hits total. Despite their bullpen blowing it a couple of times, the grand total comes out to be 7 ER on 13 hits for the 4 games. That's pretty good...except they got swept by my Giants! You would think the brilliant performances by their starters would mean something but they were all wasted.

I know it's trivial to make a thread about this but I had never seen such good performances go wasted or bested by even better performances.

And check out the number of strikeouts too: 54 in 29.1 innings.

Ah, OOTP5 I suppose.

I just remember him being in the JBL and being a good owner. We have like 26-27 great owners in the RWBL, but the other 2-3 spots always need filled. It'd be nice to have some stability.

You guys looking for another owner? I was in the RWBL for about a day at one point, but was too busy. My only OOTP league just collapsed, so I'm OOTP-less at the moment. What's the url of the website?

I think you hit the nail on the head with the metaphor. I just wish the nail would have went into Millen's head.

It's baseball season again and just had another amazing World Series results, this one a lot more agonizing though.

I'm playing in my first season starting in 1931 with the Philadelphia A's, this time in the Baseball's Rising Era. The A's start off with a good team with a solid lineup and two top SP. It was just barely strong enough to beat out the mighty Yankees for the pennant, to face the New York Giants. Despite going into the Series favored, I had lost my ace and eventual Cy Young winner, George Earnshaw, in September with a season-ending injury. That left me with my other great SP, Lefty Grove, and a 19-game winner, rookie Hank McDonald. Anyway, here were the results of the first three games:

6-0
3-0
5-0

All wins by the A's with Grove picking up two shutouts and McDonald the other.

Then the next three games:

9-3
9-0
7-0

All blowout wins by the Giants. I had to start a third SP for Game 5 but still, I didn't know why we stopped hitting and pitching after three shutouts. It was made even more agonizing since I decided to watch the games in PBP.

So what to expect for Game 7?

A 4-0 victory by the A's, of course. After getting clobbered in Game 4, McDonald comes back to pitch another shutout. With Shibe Park only seating 20000, I bet the ratings for the radio broadcast was pretty high. Glad we won but don't want to go through that again.
