FOF2004: Player attitude
I'm baffled by this one. A 10th year running back who has been my starter for 9 seasons and has started all 16 games in each of those 9 seasons, does not want to resign with me because of 'the way the team has treated him'. I'm a little confused where this came from, he's entering his 10th season and he has been the premier back in the league and I haven't even considered getting rid of him. I'm even offering him more than he is worth (based on his ratings drop) because I tend to be loyal to my players.
Here's his numbers: 2008: 16 starts, 362 carries for 1688 yards and 10 TD's, 55 catches for 291 yards and 2 TD's - Offensive Rookie of teh YEar 2009: 16 starts, 312 carries for 1456 yards and 6 TD's, 68 catches for 468 yards and 2 TD's 2010: 16 starts, 328 carries for 1228 yards and 6 TD's, 63 catches for 387 yards and 2 TD's 2011: 16 starts, 299 carries for 1199 yards and 8 TD's, 55 catches for 366 yards and 1 TD 2012: 16 starts, 348 carries for 1441 yards and 8 TD's, 73 catches for 542 yards and 2 TD's - League MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, 1st Team all-league 2013: 16 starts, 376 carries for 1614 yards and 13 TD's, 76 catches for 455 yards and 3 TD's - League MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, 1st Team all-league 2014: 16 starts, 440 carries for 1924 yards and 8 TD's, 67 catches for 525 yards and 5 TD's - League MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, 1st Team all-league 2015: 16 starts, 427 carries for 1774 yards and 16 TD's, 71 catches for 637 yards and 5 TD's - League MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, 1st Team all-league 2016: 16 starts, 364 carries for 1490 yards and 11 TD's, 39 catches for 366 yards and 2 TD's Career: 144 starts, 3256 carries (1st all-time) for 13806 yards (1st all-time) and 86 TD's (1st all-time), 567 catches (2nd all-time among running backs) for 4037 yards (4th all-time among running backs) and 24 TD's (7th all-time among running backs), 670 points scored (1st all-time among nonkickers) His loyalty is (1) Very Low but his attitude is content. I'm confused as to what the team has done to him to upset him and his agent, and will be missing one hell of a running back. What will really make this next season tough is that I also had 6 players retire. Among them were McNabb (all-time leader in all passing stats for my team), L.J. Smith (who has been a top tight end in the league), Wendell Frank (my all-time leading receiver who is top 5 all-time in all receiving stats, and a starting fullback, linebacker and safety. At least I have a lot of cap room now, but I have a lot of spots to fill. |

I've had players not resign because I fiddled around with too many different bad money offers. Hope that helped.

It was my first offer to him that he told me this. The offer was for what he was asking, straight up without any change.

I did franchise him, that must have been the problem. Me thinks it came back to bite me. I'll have to watch that a little more closely to see which player types respond negatively to it because he's the first to respond like that. (Something tells me that whole layalty (1) rating had a little something to do with it)
Oh, this was also by no means a knock on the game. I just played it off in my head as some sort of post season dispute with management (ie: Jeremiah Trotter). |

If you franchise a player the previous year and do not sign him, then franchise him again he will not resign with the team.

I found that out the hard way with a QB of mine...so in turn I just kept putting the tag on him and he still hasn't retired yet
He is in his 16th season. He has been the most productive QB in my career that I have going with 67,891 yards passing and 520 TD's. This was done with letting the coach handle adjusting the game plan and depth chart prior to each game...just becasue I don't like to handle that stuff unless I absolutely have too. He only needs to play another season without getting hurt to take over the all time Completions spot, which he is only 228 completions shy of. If I luck out and he plays for 2 more season he will break the all time attempts record as well. The best thing about this QB is he has never been hurt in his entire career, even when playing all of the preseason games. I haven't adjusted the injury rating(it's at 100) Here is a picture of him....hopefully Last edited by ozias : 12-06-2003 at 03:06 PM. |
